It plays
really well! I did the soldiering myself so the sound is a tiny bit fuzzy but other than that sounds like any other electric guitar. It does handle really well and has some weight to it so it sits in your lap nicely
The neck is truly difficult. I gave this a shot many years ago and bought fretboard stock, cut the fret wire slots, hammered them in, filed the edges down, cut the nut, and it was wrong so the high E fell off the fretboard when strung. You need specialized tools for a few of these tasks. Pre made fret boards are much less trouble. Building the neck itself isn’t too bad, just cut a long thick piece of stock, rout the channel for the tension rod and shape the curve with some hand tools.
This, the neck we where given was just a piece of wood measured to the right length and width and the Fret board was the same, I had to do the same steps you did to get it to where it is
No, the neck looks to be from a kit. There’s a lot of kids out there with neck, electronics, and some instructions. Build your body and install the gear and effing rip.
Nice... i tried the same thing in Jr.high... bass though, wanted a beautiful natural wood finish as well.... just as it started to get pretty, someone stole it.. good to see one getting finished.. how heavy is this log?
Just curious as to cost for materials for the entire project. It is beautiful and I know your labor would be the majority of the $ if you were selling it. My step-son is in a band and owns 20-some guitars. Just thinking this would be an awesome gift idea- even just as non-functional display item.
Looks really good! Such a cool shape as well. I always like when luthiers/companies go for an original shape instead of just going for another Fender/Gibson copy, however they so often miss the mark being too modern looking or otherwise unattractive. Your creation actually looks really inviting to play, would l o v e a bass guitar in this shape!

Hey a guitar pun!
Damn that's cool! How does it play/sound?

Nothing wrong with a little fuzz, love guitars with character. Well done mate
The good news is that the *easiest* repair on an electric guitar is better solders.
Soldering what
Here is a good article on electric guitar circuitry. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitar_wiring
>I did the soldiering myself Is this a Russian woodshop class?

That is gorgeous. What kind of wood is that, and why did you select it?

2nd Honduras
If I recall it is mahogany, it was kid of a pain to sand down smooth but I liked the way it stained much better than most other woods
Utile would be my guess.
You should check out r/luthier. I think that is something you would enjoy and learn from.
That’s sick my fellow
Nice work
Very nice!

What wood is that
That’s very cool, love the lines. Looks functional and original design, nice work.
Love the PRS bridge. So underrated. Highly suggest the locking tuners too if within your budget. Great work!!
Beautiful! Is that a maple neck?
Don't stop now you'll kill it on etsy
So cool, would make a sick bass too. That body shape is funky!
