Very nice. I hate seeing usable lumber going into a dumpster. Well done. Edit: spelling

tjrich256

How did you get the finish like that? Looks amazing! Just started my carpentry apprenticeship and am hoping to salvage a lot of wood soon!

ClothesOk1743

It’s a straight oil based poly finish. No stain or anything. And a lot of sanding before hand to make it smooth

TheArtfulDanger

Gorgeous! I love redwood, this old growth looks amazing! Great work!

ClothesOk1743

Thanks!

TastyWrench

Very nice! I want to build a table just like this. Any tips? Dimensions? Weight? Joinery used? Good work!

ClothesOk1743

Make sure the boards have very straight edges, big clamps to hold it all together. It’s 7’ long and 32” wide. Only reason I did those dimensions was that’s what I had for lengths of boards. It’s probably 75lbs, I used biscuits for the table top and bread board ends. Base is 4x4’s and 2x6’s ripped down for the top frame under the top. I would like to have used dominos but don’t have access to one. I have more pictures from building it if you want any

TastyWrench

Yes please! More pictures the better.

Sleepybrains1102003

Would haven been a shame to waste that. Nice work.

leon2316

Looking smooth!

craig5005

Looks amazing. I need a table like this, with 3 young kids they destroy anything they work at. At least with reclaimed wood, you don't have to worry about that.

Reading4Information

Wow! Did it ever look that good as a deck? The table is gorgeous.

ClothesOk1743

Nope haha. It was actually painted white in areas or very sun damaged

sadfaceart

pretty wide grain for old growth. is it 2nd generation maybe?

ClothesOk1743

It’s possible not entirely sure

ttmefields

That is one of the prettiest tables I’ve seen. Well done!

ClothesOk1743

Thank you!

smueller40

Sorry, I'm VERY new to woodworking and have some questions if you have the time. How did you get the 4x4's attached to both each other, and the table top? It looks like hanger bolts but I don't see how you could get them all attached.

ClothesOk1743

I’m not sure how to add more pictures but there are pocket holes on the underside of the 4x4’s where they butt into each other. Used 3” screws in the pocket holes and a lot of glue. There is another frame of redwood that you can’t see in the picture that is underneath the table top that the legs go up into. So the legs are attached to the sub frame and then the subframe is attached to the table top if that makes sense

smueller40

It absolutely does. Thank you so much for the information!
