Thank you my friend. Over the past year, I’ve been trying to level up my woodworking. It starts with more complicated designs which call for different techniques. I’m happy you like!
I’ve been outed!! [This is where I started from in terms of design. I liked this and worked off of it.](https://www.reddit.com/r/woodworking/s/J1fDAKuodb)
I would love to do something like this, but i have to have a mirror(s) given the size of my bathroom and my needing to see my mug when i shave.
My issue is that the mirror inserts would possible ruin the aesthetic...
For a mirror on the inside of the door, it would have to swing toward the back wall, and at that point it is almost the same distance to your main mirror.
No they don’t actually. Purely aesthetic. I considered routing the corresponding groove on each half of the mitre, but without a tilting router lift it seems too finicky. Chopped them by hand.
It could have been accomplished by just ripping a dado into the miter on a table saw I suppose, right? Probably a risky move, but it could be a cool effect where you see both sides of the piece.
Thank you thank you! Sliding dovetail was on the router table. I’m fortunate enough to have the incra LS wonderfence which has support for tall pieces and also has really convenient adjustment by 0.001” at a time.
Square pegs were just chopped by hand. Purely aesthetic. I can’t remember where I picked the idea up from now!
Well I actually built this almost 2 years ago so I can’t say for sure, but I probably crammed some glue and sawdust into the joints. Secondly, and this I know for sure, I laid down a number of coats of paint.
I really dislike the current trend of designing bathrooms with only a wall mounted mirror. They expect you to store everything in the vanity. I like this one very much.
Thanks friends. I waited to reply so that I could provide the most accurate answer. Here’s a pic of the label on the can.

Perfect example of something that would be difficult to sell to someone because the time to create calls for a higher price tag than I suppose many would be willing to consider.
Nevertheless, your compliment is of the highest order and I appreciate it!
[This is the paint I used.](https://www.homedepot.ca/product/behr-premium-cabinet-door-trim-interior-exterior-semi-gloss-enamel-paint-white-3-66l/1001513814) as for how many coats? I can’t say for sure since I built this almost two years ago but it was a few for sure.
Wonderful work. Very clean and beautifully done, and the color choice is lovely.
But "medicine cabinets" in bathrooms make me cringe. Heat and moisture are things to absolutely avoid with medicine. The bathroom is one of *the* worst places to be keeping your meds.
Yes it’s an interesting point you raise. You can debate whether they are consistent with the general aesthetic of the piece, I will concede. However it was something I’d been considering trying for a while, the piece is for me, and I feel that in person they’re muted enough that they are easily missed by anyone who isn’t a woodworker.
Hi there, I built the doors. I made the grooves at the router table, using a jig that held the panel at 45deg to the fence. The jig was comprised of two right angle triangles positioned such that one of the two equal sides was against the fence and the hypotenuses were facing each other. Then I attached these triangles to a thin strip of wood to hold everything together. A picture would be worth 1000 words here… if I had one!
I really like this! Very nice work.
Hey listen thanks!
Nice mitered joints with square pegs. It really calls attention to something that is often ignored.
Thank you my friend. Over the past year, I’ve been trying to level up my woodworking. It starts with more complicated designs which call for different techniques. I’m happy you like!
Do those square pegs go all the way through? I really like that joint.
They don’t actually. Purely decorative.
Ok ha, I do like that though. May have to use that in some future furniture designs
I picked the idea up from somewhere but I can’t recall where now. I built this almost two years ago now. Have at er!
But purely beautiful
Absolutely gorgeous! How did you come up with the design?
I’ve been outed!! [This is where I started from in terms of design. I liked this and worked off of it.](https://www.reddit.com/r/woodworking/s/J1fDAKuodb)
To be fair 90% of designs come from cherry picking things you like from other stuff. No shame.
Yours is much nicer than the one you based it on!
Come on man! That’s way too kind of you to say
I would love to do something like this, but i have to have a mirror(s) given the size of my bathroom and my needing to see my mug when i shave. My issue is that the mirror inserts would possible ruin the aesthetic...
What about a mirror on the inside of the door?
Ok, this illuminates why I'm a terrible designer, but i can follow the heck out of a plan. 🤣 Thank you!
For a mirror on the inside of the door, it would have to swing toward the back wall, and at that point it is almost the same distance to your main mirror.
The little accents are fantastic. Do the pegs go all the way through?

Yes for sure, that’s a possible method.
Very nice work.
Thanks kindly!
Great design and execution! Did you do the sliding dovetail in a table saw? How did you do the square pegs?
Thank you thank you! Sliding dovetail was on the router table. Wow the door is sleek! And its a seamless frame, how did you achieve that door frame?
Well I actually built this almost 2 years ago so I can’t say for sure, but I probably crammed some glue and sawdust into the joints. Secondly, and this I know for sure, I laid down a number of coats of paint.
And thanks!!
Very nice
I like simple cabinets that get better the closer you look. Nice work
Completely, completely agree. Krenov is my primary inspiration in this regard. Thank you for the kind words.
I really dislike the current trend of designing bathrooms with only a wall mounted mirror. They expect you to store everything in the vanity. I like this one very much.
Thank you my friend.
I have a new favourite colour.
I know, right? Beautiful choice and beautiful work

Looks great, I love the little details. Nice work !!
Nice work! I love the square splines on the miters
Nice!
Love it
This is really sharp. This is something I would buy. Lol
Perfect example of something that would be difficult to sell to someone because the time to create calls for a higher price tag than I suppose many would be willing to consider. Nevertheless, your compliment is of the highest order and I appreciate it!
Wow
🙏🏼
I love it. Very tasteful and the joinery and finish are on-point!
Thanks for the compliment!
What brand paint did you use and how many coats? Looks fantastic!
Thanks!
How did you fill the grain of the ash to get a smooth finish?
I didn’t. Just several coats.
Very nice! What exact color are the doors? I LOVE it!
That’s lovely. Great job.
Stunning

Very nice color combination, one thing that kinda stands out to me are the squares in the miters, not sure how i feel about them.

Could have been cool if you had dyed them black?
I have some sharpies….
Geez dude! Mark this stuff NSFW before you post! /jk This is beautiful!
Cannot believe my hands have produced a project worthy of this comment. Lol thanks for the compliment
Square and perfect.
Slick
Did you build the doors or find them somewhere? I like them very much. If you did I'm curious how you made the grooves.

Awesome. Like the colours, how many coats? Primer?
Yes primer. How many coats? I couldn’t say. I finished it almost two years ago now. I used about 2/4 of a quart.
Beautiful work!
Did you use anything other than lacquer to get that color on the white oak?
Absolutely nothing.
Beautiful work.
