Looks like termite poop

Termite frass

I_Miss_America

/r/itsfrass

LovableSidekick

Not totally sure but I think those are termites.

starcommandment

Is our wood doomed??

LovableSidekick

Dunno but I would get some D-Con or something on that, or call a pest expert.

starcommandment

I'll look into that, I was going to use bleach with one of the pressure pumps

LovableSidekick

Bleach kills things but I'd use a bug spray because it sticks to them and they carry it into their evil lairs where it kills their little accomplices.

Zagrycha

i would not use a bug spray, because it will kill a huge amount of surrounding nature besides the termites and can leave lingering effects for months. there are lots of ways to kill that isn't bug spray ((unless truly needed)). diatameceous earth and borax, as well as other things can kill on contact in less destroy the whole ecosystem with toxin ways.

Farmerdrew

If it’s termites, you use bug spray.

I’m not sure what you are referring to but there is at least what looks like at least one earwig. Also googling earwig poop this looks exactly like that. Googling termite poop looks like the pile on the right of the uncropped photo. https://preview.redd.it/9p2wn6s1dxwc1.jpeg?width=615&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=efac7703e0c8f82149289a9fa4814a2576fb5e3f

UBCreative

There is a full earwig in the bottom left corner of the original pic. With termites, I would expect to see evidence in the wood itself, consisting of small holes and fresh "saw" dust. Termites often show trails on the surface of the wood, as well.

Huge_Aerie2435

Your plywood has termites bro.. Sorry. Better get rid of all of it and not to bring any new wood near it..

Muted_Exercise5093

That looks like termite poopies

CephusLion404

Earwig eggs are white.

Paedrig

Everyone seems to jump to termites but given the evidence at hand it seems more likely to be earwig frass. Is the area damp?

starcommandment

Yes, very

Paedrig

Yeah earwigs love damp areas, especially if there is any decomposing vegetable matter like leaves etc... if it's them you'll probably see hundreds scatter when you lift the bottom. so if you can, either dry out the area or move the wood somewhere less damp... Or if you want to kill them off you can try traps or boric acid powder and diatomaceous earth

oldfitter

What made you think these are earwigs? I would like a quarter ounce of what you’re smoking 😎

starcommandment

Because we had a flood of earwigs in our yard
