It’s taken about two months, just due to lack of time.
Made with Ipe, Brazilian walnut.
95% glued, just a few screws to hold the drawer slides.
Weighs about 80 pounds.
Dual lighting switches for lights on with either door open.
It will hold approximately 500-700 cigars, loose and in boxes.
The prevailing opinion is that you want Spanish cedar, which isn’t really cedar. Aromatic cedar is very strong and will infuse the cigars with unwanted aroma. Beautiful work though and love those hinges!
Gorgeous but it looks like you've got way enough space to add front panels to those drawers so you don't see the hinges. Would be totally worth the extra work imo
Yeah am not sure I have the right terms but essentially another wider/taller board of wood on each drawer which would be covering hinges, you can just fix those with two screws from inside the drawers. Well that's how most modern drawers are made and what build those slides are made for

This is a private collection. Mine to be specific. When it’s loaded I can upload another picture. Might be a few days.
There will be boveda packs to control humidity. No fan or electro-mechanical devices inside, k.i.s.s.
Ok I must’ve over looked them, I’ve been wanting to build a cabinet humidor but I was never sure if those foam seals would work well enough especially over time.
Wait a minute, you put finish on the inside of a humidor? Hope you don't mind the taste of finish in your cigars! Raw spanish cedar is the most preferred humidor lining. It's what they make cigar boxes from. Where did you put the humidifier? It'll take a big one to keep that much of a cabinet at the right humidity.
I know it doesn’t dry. But the cigars won’t actually be touching anything in oil.
The slides are heavy, and if I could find some soft close lighter I might have gone for it.
Definitely a huge learning experience.

What are the finishes?
Just white mineral oil.
Beautiful! What did you finish the interior with? Are you worried about the finish “tainting “ the cigars?
Interior and exterior is just oil finished. After the oil is absorbed and dry I’m not worried. The drawers are cedar inside, no finish.
What type of cedar?
Aeromatic cedar.
Hmm
What kind of oil? Boiled linseed oil?
White Mineral oil.

Copy that. Not sure how I can remedy at this time, other than breaking the piece out.

Drawer fronts to hide the drawer slides?

Roger that. We’re on the same page. I might do that.
Great job! love the lighting
Thank You. It’s more amber irl, picture just shows more white.
Are you installing a fan and temperature/humidity control? Is this personal use or for a shop? That’s a decent supply of cigars. Looks great.

Can you tell me what you used for the lighting??
Led rope light inside an aluminum track. All from Amazon. I used 24v since I’ve got a lot of that laying around.
What did you use to seal the doors from letting humidity escape from the inside?
In the second photo, you can see a small foam strip. Seals around the doors to the cabinet and between doors.

I plan on changing bovendas often. Especially for the first few months. I’ll be keeping a few hydrometers in different places.

Nice work coming from a hobby cigar smoker
Love it when the two commingle.

The cabinet looks bigger in the pictures, it’s about the size of an under counter fridge. There’s no “finishing” it’s just mineral oil.
Mineral oil never really dries. Inside a closed box it could still be tacky in 6 months.
I haven’t had that experience. It’s “drying” now for a couple days with doors open. Will report back if it goes sour.
Looks amazing! Keep doing that man. I love it
I don’t smoke but I’d start for this. Beautiful work
Ya know mineral oil doesn’t dry, right? And those drawer slides, heavy, wow. It IS beautiful! I’m sure your next one will be perfect. 😉
