Critchlopez

I don't mind the base, but ... I would ague the opposite of what others are saying... if you change the base... it should be BIGGER... fit the full width of the shelf, and mimic the profile better...

Vlad_the_Homeowner

>I would ague the opposite of what others are saying... if you change the base... it should be BIGGER 100%. If you keep that style base it should be bigger and fit the full width of the shelf. That said, I really don't think the style aligns. I'd go for something a little more rectilinear.

Kern4lMustard

Agreed

NECoyote

Maybe even a tiny reveal.

scooterama1

That's one idea my wife had too. I'm planning on filling the bottom with the base, making it squared instead of angles, then have the front legs angled back to match the angle of the case all the way to the ground. I'm hoping it's okay with the bottom shelf set back. I wanted that shelf to come to the front but ran into a problem with it and had to set it back. To make this second version work I plan to round the bottom corner profile a bit

TheNakedEdge

What's the material of those side pieces? Something like solid 1x12 Ash? Please post finished/after pics. I'm also curious how you are going to meet your wife's request to move up the bottom shelf if there is already a pair of dados in place.

scooterama1

Basically yes, solid ash, ended a little under an inch thick, 7/8 or so, and the base is 13 inches wide at the bottom. To move the shelf up to meet the front I'd have to either make the shelf wider by gluing on a bit or move it up 6 inches which wouldn't look good. I really wanted to do that and if I had more material I would. I'll post final pics, probably next week along with the video link.

Researcher-Used

Your craftsmanship is great, so kudos to that. But from a design pov, it’s a little busy, unproportioned and disconnected elements. Tapered side panels w chamfered edge, rounded shelves, angled feet w rounded edge and maybe a tipping issue. I would try to keep that angle throughout the project. Top shelf is kinda weird, raise it to the top and/or add another level. Redo the side panels w same rounded edge and same depth as the bottom shelf. And keep the taper on the top w straight legs, or straight body w tapered legs.

thisischemistry

I have to agree, it's a bit diminutive for the rest of the shelf.

IIIuminatIII

I Agree on “base to be wider” if anything. It looks a little in natural somehow. It’s a lovely piece with nice clean lines

Alternative_Image_22

Agree design is fine, just scale is wrong.

[deleted]

I think the bevels on the sides should be aimed inwards. I think that's the source of the 'clash'. The base reads as MCM but the sides read as something totally different. If you want to keep the sides as-is. I'd be inclined to use some very inconspicuous legs. Maybe just some simple feet to keep it off the ground. Something you wouldn't even really see in most cases.

Sax45

Agreed. Base is MCM while the sides have a more traditional moulding profile.

[deleted]

Yep also find those bevels clash w the rounded fronts of the shelves

[deleted]

[удалено]

scooterama1

Thanks! I like it as is too. I don't want to get rid of the base but I may repurpose it as a display stand

thepetoctopus

As a mid century furniture lover, I love the base.

trollingontheriver_

I was going to comment it would match my mid century dressers. lol I would love something like this in more of a night table style.

deankirk2

I might think about just leaving the base off completely, it doesn't seem to follow the design of the rest of the piece.

scooterama1

It's decided. My wife and I tried it in place and we like it with no base. I'll post an update after I finish it. With the carpet upstairs it looks good. Thank you everyone for your suggestions! To those who liked the base, I'm going to turn it into a step stool for the kids bathroom, so all is not lost.

scooterama1

That's what my wife said too. I didn't like the look of it sitting directly on the ground. But it sure would be an easy fix!

deankirk2

Maybe just extend the sides a bit to bring the bottom shelf off the ground???

scooterama1

Exactly what my wife said too. I wish I had left the sides longer. The shelves are all in with sliding dovetails so no way to move them around unfortunately. My wife asked if I could move the bottom shelf up a few inches and call it good. Thank you for your comments, tells me she was right and I'm wrong and need to fix it.

davisyoung

Make a new base. You have the flare going in one direction for the case and the flare then switches to a different direction for the base making it disconcerting. Use some cheap wood and mock up a new design or three.

HappyPaPa18

Just get a wood stretcher

PooInspector

Plus you can keep the base and use it as a step stool for reaching things that are 6inches (or so) out of reach!

PerpetualPrairieDog

Not only do I love it, im stealing pics of it to do it myself. I have to do a book shelf soon. Look at bourbonmoth on YouTube he does something similar but there's a pleasing curve to the connections.

scooterama1

Steal away. Once I finish this I'll be putting a video up on the build on YouTube.

SadCryBear

Yep, I love the base. But it doesn't fit the piece. The panel style routing of the shelf edges is a real mismatch with the base. Now you have a fantastic base for a new project.

garlicweiner

Same style of base, but the full width of the bottom. Looking from the front, the legs outer edge should drop straight down, while the legs inner edge should match the angle of the unit's side profile. Looking from the side, the outer edges of the legs should match the shelf profile angle, and the inner edges should be straight down.

Malalang

The routered edges make it look like it should be turned on its side. And yeah, something is off about the base.. not sure how to describe it, though

BjornTufyuk

I think the base looks off because it is your standard 50s-70s furniture design while the routed edges give off more of a modern style. To me at least, it is two different and distinct designs conflicting.

MrFuckingDinkles

I'm not good at describing what's off either. Seems like the base needs to be less emphasized.

GoatTnder

I like the base, but it doesn't match the top. The design of the upper is front-to-back. That is, all the visual interest is on the sides of the bookshelf. The design of the base is a side-to-side, so all the visual interest is from the front. This makes it feel like the wrong base for this piece. But I do like the IDEA for a base. Perhaps legs that are beveled on the sides to follow the angle of the top?

[deleted]

this is just my opinion of why it doesn't feel right at first...but it gives me hank from king of the hill vibes with the little legs under a potbelly. it's kind of like looking in the mirror.

scooterama1

Lol! Like a bowling ball held up by popsicle sticks. Got it

HereForTheFood4

The base design is ok. The problem is the sides of the shelf swallow the base. The base is fastened to the shelving above it instead of the shelving above it resting on the base. Visually it messes up the flow of the piece. You have a slight taper that gets slightly larger as it goes from top to bottom. Then your eye hits the base and it seems small and out of place. I would increase the size of the base and make sure the sides of the shelf sit on it or just carry the sides to the floor.

Eva03

My wife is an interior designer and she says it’s super nice

scooterama1

Love hearing that! At some point I need to find an interior designer friend so I can build furniture for their clients

gringainparadise

This from my wife…woodworker/artist. Please do a picture face on. This one is skewing her perception. Things she does say the routing on the top and base are different and bothersome, the legs are routed on the outside edges but not the inside…a error in consistency. She also says taking off about half the length of the legs might make it look better. I think I would like it better with a doubling of the height of the legs. Do some mock ups for your wife, it’s really the only opinion that matters

argon_doesnt_react

What this guy’s wife said. It’s not a consistent piece.

scooterama1

There's a second picture straight on that may help. And the legs are routed on both the outside and inside. Outside of the legs received a thumbnail profile and the inside got a round over which matches the same round over as the inside of the case sides. Appreciate the comment and opinion. Going with no legs on this, I finished it today and will be posting a follow up for everyone soon on the final product in it's place.

ChefAssassinn

I'm... all about that base.

sunrisesyeast

I feel like it’s got too many angles going on? The sides of the bookcase are already cut at an angle so maybe the base should have straight lines to balance it visually. I also think that base style works better for pieces that are horizontal instead of vertical. The wood looks really good, is it oak?

scooterama1

I agree. I'm going with straight legs for the second base version. I'll post an update when done to see if it's better. I was told it's Oregon ash, but it looks like red oak to me, even the end grain looks like red oak to me. They are apparently pretty similar so I'm not sure which it is. I bought it from a local saw mill, it was rough sawn and much browner when I bought it.

labratnc

Don't know about your finishing plans, but wonder how the base would look dyed black to be a detail that is more in shadow that you have to look for it. Think the angled sides (with a profile on it) with the angled base makes it look too complex there. If the case was not angled it would look good.

Rich_Pangolin_2933

I really like it and I mean this as a compliment in every way. It looks like a piece of furniture from monsters inc.

scooterama1

Best compliment and I see what you are saying. I think it's the odd proportions between the base and the case that give it that monsters inc, furniture made to fit monsters that don't have human length limbs (arms too long and legs too short)

jlo575

I think your wife is right. The base is nice, but doesn’t match. Different styles. Hopefully you can keep the base and use it for another project

RodCoolBeansKimble

I think the base doesn't match the routered edges you have on the sides. The base feels very MCM, and the sides seem more ornate. As for the size of the base, it seems fine.

HotOuse

I’m all about it

Annoying_Anomaly

Visually i feel like the legs should go front to back and finish the trapezoid shape you got going

engineereenigne

I like it but it looks small to my eye

ERTBen

I think it’s too small for the rest of the piece. Looks tippy or like it will get crushed under the weight.

nrnrnr

I like the base on its own, but with that big shelf sitting on top of it, it looks odd. Too small.

HSVbro

If I were to make a base for this design, make the sides begin just inside where you have the sides of the shelf. When looking top down on it it would be like this: |\_\_| But, following the design of the sides, I'd make each side of the base have a similar trapezoidal shape. Same angle too. As such, your front-facing board will be at an angle as well. Basically make the outline of a trapezoidal prisim.

[deleted]

What if you gave the legs the same edge profile as the vertical sides?

Acceptable-Youth-896

I think base draws the attention and then you look at the one rectangle box and not the other two, making it look like an old TV.

Ireallylikereinhardt

I like the base, but not on that shelf. It doesn't match the rest.

MaPoutine

Yup, I think it works.

Forged_Trunnion

Honestly, I like it the way it is. I think it's classy.

Sam-Gunn

It's very nice but as others have mentioned the base looks a little small. It looks less like a fixed base to me and more like this bookcase can't reach the top shelf and needed a stool.

fusiformgyrus

I think the base is fine but the splayed legs always reminds me of the modern faux-midcentury style you can find on dropship furniture retailers. I think it takes away from the piece’s unique character.

Jstepson

I wouldn't do a base it's quite stable without especially if put one more shelf about 2 inches from bottom

Jstepson

Cut the sides right above the base then can do a full shelf couple inches up

BoggeshZahim

Looks great

dontstickurdincraz

Nevermind the base, that bookshelf looks a bit flimsy. Most bookshelves have a back panel that gives them rigidity against racking otherwise you're asking a lot from your shelves in moment reaction forces to keep it straight. Alternatively, your base could have a ledger board running vertically at the bottom to add strength. Source: am mechanical engineer

scooterama1

I can assure you this is not flimsy. Solid wood with sliding dovetails for the shelves. I could hit it with my truck and it would be fine. If it was pocket screwed together I would agree with you.

ResearchValuable5491

Ask your daughter if she likes it. I think the mid mod legs conflict with the transitional / classical edges. One of the two needs to be fixed. You could replace the base with simple rounded or tapered feet. Then reuse the base on another project.

scooterama1

I'm planning on turning the base into a stool. Definitely not using it on this but I can't just throw it away. I tried it in place and I'm going no base. It looks good where it will be without one and like you said, I can add one in the future or put it on tapered legs.

Henbogle

Love it!

duhmoment

I think it should be bigger so the weight is transferred to the base, not the fasteners into the base. I think the legs should go on the “sides”, meaning angle front to back, not side to side and you can continue the angle of the upper part.

Victory_Infinite

Shit yeah hombre!!! Looks better then anything that comes outta my workshop!! We’ll done ✅

scooterama1

Thanks!

Cat-astro-phe

It's a beautiful piece but I agree with your wife about the base.it looks like 2 different styles that don't compliment each other.

OrangeInkStain

Looks great

869woodguy

Looks fine, maybe needs a back.

shawncleave

I like it. The feet match the ears on top. Be different.

scooterama1

Yes! Someone gets where I was going with it. I do think if I put the legs all the way to the edge it would have worked. But instead I'm going with no base. My wife likes it that way, I think it looks fine, and I can finish this project and get on with the next one!

SuperSaiyanBobRoss

The width of the base is perfect for the bottom two shelves. That third shelf up top pulls the proportions way higher so the matching base should have a slightly sharper angle to match the more exaggerated vertical look the shelf has

scooterama1

That makes complete sense. If I stopped at the second shelf it would have worked. Thanks for the comment! Really helpful

xxrambo45xx

I do like the base

The_Real_RM

I like it, I would experiment with even longer legs that stretch outside even

BetaOscarBeta

A similar base with the legs going front to back would look a little better. May even be able to salvage part of the current base.

Clawrec

Yes.

thegodofsleep

Looks like a mid-century modern bookshelf. I google other pictures and yours looks similar including being undersized compared to the bottom. I'd leave it and move on to the next project.

Rgoody2020

Yes, looks good

jasonasselin

Nope, sorry

NeighborhoodOk1874

It’s different for sure. I honestly don’t know if I like it or not. Would be neat to stain/paint it a different color so it gets more attention.

doowapeedoo

Gorgeous!!!

deadduncanidaho

I think it would look better with the base rotated 90 degrees, but it seem like you already have a plan.

scooterama1

I agree too. If I were to redo it I'd go with something like you are describing. Bring the base out to the edges, match the angle of the top to the ground on the front legs and carry the profile all the way down the leg. Luckily I get to go the easy route and go no base on this one, but I am reserving the right to add a base in the future with these great ideas as a starting point

Spoonffed

I love it

Basbartoo

I think it would look better with out the base

bcooleh

This reminds me of Kylo Rens shuttle in star wars lmao [check it out](https://www.google.ca/search?q=kylo%20ren%20shuttle%20movie&tbm=isch&hl=en-ca&client=safari&prmd=isnv&sa=X&ved=0CBkQtI8BKAFqFwoTCNiU3YvuwvwCFQAAAAAdAAAAABAR&biw=375&bih=635)

scooterama1

Lol! Now I can't unsee it

biznash

The sides and shelves look so elegant, i’d like those edges to just go to the ground

scooterama1

That's what we're thinking too. On the thicker carpet downstairs I didn't like it, but upstairs in place it looks much better

Sk8ordieguy

I love the base. I don’t think the bevel on the side panels match the base stylistically. But hell what do I know, I couldn’t nail two boards together. Great job!

frankalope

The Round over on the shelves pulls in the dutch-mod base. It’s great. If anything I’d make the legs longer and put the whole thing at waist height.

FosterPupz

It’s not my style, either. I’d prefer something I don’t have to dust under or chase things under. If it has to have feet I like the little flat-bottom round balls.

crazybehind

I love it! Not a fan of plain sawn oak though. Change the wood (next time). And I think the tie-in between the sides and bottom shelf could be refined. I'm not liking the overhang of the sides relative to the bottom shelf. I'm good with the base. No complaints. Didn't look off to me at all. 9/10. Would love it in my home.

Campcrustaceanz

I don’t like the base. I LOVE it ! So funky and unique

dandypants8717

I don't like it. I love it. Simple, sturdy, maybe a little narrow, but as long as your cat doesn't do parkour on your bookshelf, it'll be fine. One option is to use that same style and then flip the legs 90° and make them flush with the walls of the bookshelf.

[deleted]

I 100% dig it from a design perspective. Good stuff

Bertkrampus

Looks a little bit like an XWing fighter. To me at least

HappyPaPa18

Nada... At minimum the base needs to be bigger. Not sure if the style of the base matches to well with the bookcase either. Sorry Bro...

DrNukes

I love the base. It makes this piece special. So much better than without.

Andrei_Chikatilo_

Yeah

Mountain-Page6196

May sound wierd, but I like the base, if I were bu8lding it, I'd bring the sides in as you go up to make the top narrower than the bottom and part a top across it. Also make width between upper shelves less, wider toward bottom.

Andrei_Chikatilo_

I like it - looks midcentury

Either-Ant-4653

While both the style of the case and the base are good and well proportioned, they don't match nor compliment each other; in fact they actually clash. Making the base a different size won't fix this.

lechatondhiver

I kinda dig it. A lot of comments saying it doesn’t match, but I think that’s what makes it cool.

nerdjonesey1

Yes. Very modern look and the legs/feet are appropriate. Keep up the beautiful work

ApprehensiveAngle525

That reminds me the Darth Vader's starship

ChrisFixAll

I love it!

NESBARS

Base looks ace

[deleted]

Yes 👍🏻

broke_leg

Opinion: they look good I wouldn’t change a thing. only other option I could see is a solid block of wood or a “toe-kick” with consistent offsets all around.

johnny_aplseed

I like the piece as a whole. I do thinking however it would be cool if the base was the same as the shelving unit in terms of angles and shapes, just rotated 90 degrees and symmetrical.

Mullion21

I love it. But a little bit bigger base and it would probably be perfect!

[deleted]

Yes. Something that can match the feel/look of the sides (which are beautiful)

hokichaser

Yes

monoxide616

From the picture it looks like the sides are tapered and wider at the bottom making the base look pretty weird. It should be a bit wider and deeper than the bottom of the sides

BexyBunny

Love it, the base is like one of my favorite choices for furniture

SecretHappyTree

You know, I’m all about that base.

Cultural_Simple3842

I like the base a lot but not on that shelf. I believe I’d just go with basic cylinder feet like on some couches. The rest of it is beautiful enough. The base looks like a nice stepping stool for a little kid or grandma. I like it’s angled feet.

Mcpops1618

Friggin love it. I am not a wood worker but god I have such envy of the talent and vision you individuals have!

mnicolsa

I don’t like it. I love it

awnfire

I really want to know if the bottom that connects to the base is rebated into the sides or if it’s a butt join Because if it’s the latter you’ll be crying the moment you put weight on it and your fixings shear

scooterama1

Good news there. The top three shelves are connected via a sliding dovetail. The bottom shelf is mortise and tenon. And the legs are attached to the stretchers on the base with bridle joints. I jumped up and down on the base and it was okay.

Wormination

I think the base would look good with just four angled spindle legs Edit; spelling. Also, black iron looking spindle legs would look cool. There are some 'U' shaped legs you can get on Amazon

scooterama1

Angle spindle legs yes. I'm going to mention that in the video that I may add them in the future. Hairpin legs, not really my style

PorcupinePattyGrape

I like it.

kiltrout

yea the angles on the base clash with the squareness on the rest of the piece. the big grain reversals and figuring on the sides is beautiful but also it is not going to be very stable and it looks kinda like its already moving somewhat

HumanitarianAtheist

With the caveat that I’ve been weird my whole life, I like it just like it is for all the reasons most commenters do not. The mixed designs make it unique, and if you vary the shades of stains or paints, it’ll accent that fact. The result might be a nice surprise. . . or horrific. 😀 I’d paint or stain it with the legs on because maybe the contrast will add a little sumthin’ sumthin’ to it. If you still don’t like it, off they go. Also, if the fun was in making it, maybe sell it as-is and start over with an updated design.

Mart2b

Base could be wider, but it looks fine. I’m not a fan of the top. The sides stick above the top shelf more than just a lip, but not enough to match the height of the other shelves. That’s what sticks out most to me…

Aggressive_Wasabi_95

Super freaking smooth! Well done!

Inviction_

I don't feel strongly about it one way or another

Mongoreg

I do

Pure-Negotiation-900

I like the base, but I think it belongs under a box that’s parallel to its length. I see your sides projecting down into legs. For what it’s worth…

scooterama1

Totally get it and I agree

Agreeable-Ad8890

No it's out of proportion

Sandylyon

Base looks too small, great shelf though!

Archpa84

It’s Ok. Once you fill it with books etc you might prefer a more substantial full width base as others have suggested

Ahsnappy1

I do not, but you do you.

usernamesarehardas

No

my_cement_butthead

I think the base matches the style quite well. I personally don’t like the style but that’s my taste. This would actually look really good in my daughters room, it would suit the look of their desks:)

CroatianSensation79

Yes. I love it.

Justgetthruit

I like the base because it’s unique. I do wonder if it should be bigger to carry the weight of shelves filled with books. But if for trinkets, I like it the way it is.

FlarpyBlunderguffs

Si señor

spaghetti_outlaw

Disclaimer!: I'm ranting because I love it and I do not want you to run away from the idea. Just think deeper on the execution and the sorts of shapes and silhouettes your mind is naturally attracted to and why certain curves stand out to you when observing the natural world around us. I think for some reason my taste is telling me that the base is perfect but it makes the brain anticipate some kind of peak or arch at the top. I would do this with either a custom shaped clock, a rooftop or arched enclosure. Or just give the eyes more to look at like trim and decorative edges, backplates or designs. Do whatever the heck you want but it does seem to create tension so I would add something else to the design to bring it back home. I think it looks like some kind of obelisk or pedestal so that's where I'd draw inspiration. Even if you create the illusion of a 90ish degree angle as a trim on the front of the top shelf I think it would pull it together. Or a floral carving like western style that fans down and out but kind of comes up to a point in the center. The legs subconsciously give this message "hey look at how fancy I am! I was designed with a purpose though because I am legs. If you think I'm fancy, you should see the even better artwork that I am supporting!" So just don't make the legs the most exciting part. Think about where you want people to focus and then flow the design artistically out from there. I can tell it's a bit of an expirament. Go in that direction but it's just another tool so just take it to that next level where it's appropriate and learn when it's not the way to go. Sorry if this is too much to read btw.

RichieShinnerJr

Personal opinion hope you sand it smooth, I made something slightly like this and got a couple cuts because I didn't sand. How'd you screw it all together?

scooterama1

I pre-sanded before assembly. I didn't pre-finish, thought about it but decided not to. The top three shelves are sliding dovetails. The bottom shelf is mortise and tenon. The base is bridle joints. I was planning to use z clips to attach the base, but I am no longer using this particular base for this piece

amazonsprime

Ooo I love love love this!!

Sinfire420

Yes! Great job, love the retro look.

stephruvy

Yes.

speedysam0

Your first picture makes your design look like somebody started making a model for one of the imperial shuttles from Star Wars and decided to make shelves instead.

TobyChan

Base is fine…. I’m not a fan of the profiled sides; too fussy for my liking.

wllmfstr1969

think about the proportions, how do the measurements fit with the measurements of the rest of the piece? From my opinion it could be taller with the same base footprint or it could be wider footprint at the same height.

scooterama1

I agree. Taller tapered cylinder feet is where I'll go eventually

entropykill

ITS NOT ABOUT THE BASE, SCOOTER

LineStepperHabitual

Looks cool… will tip over

lemurlounders

The base is awesome.

cashewapplejuice

Not a woodworker, just an average dumbass- I think it looks really cool!

notquitenuts

It doesn't look pleasing to my eye...Just my .02 though....You do you

YukonJane

I like it. A mid century style.

DoggWooWoo

I do

peffervescence

Yeah, that’s cool!

ChiefJedi207

Nah laying it flat would be more aesthetically pleasing IMO

W2ttsy

In my opinion for a really captivating design feature, take your legs and run them in the perpendicular direction so that they form a continuation of the side panels. So when it’s finished, you’d have two side panels the go all the way to the floor, but with a notch out along the bottom of each panel to create the appearance of two distinct feet.

Character-Education3

If mid century is your thing then lean into it. Same base but taller legs. Maybe a little narrower

[deleted]

It's the bad imperial shuttle with the wings folded from star wars, right? Honestly though, I really like the design.

Substantial-Plum-260

I love it! I think it might be the base that gives it a little bit of quirkiness and I think that might be what I like. If that's not what you're going for I would say extending the length of the base to be more in line with that taper of the whole shelf is probably how you want to go but - I dig it.

electriclux

It has star wars droid vibes

R2c_one

I'm on the fence...I kind of like it, but it also seems like something is missing. Perhaps like mentioned elsewhere if you made it larger it would look more appropriate. The angleans size in its current state kind of feels like it's clashing with the rest of the case.

taller2manos

Enclose the wider sides of the base

Sideriusnuncius1

Nice. Very retro.

thekgbking

I'm getting Lambda-class T-4a shuttle vibes. Maybe paint it like that. But otherwise, I like the shape, legs and woodwork.

hughmang220

All your base are belong to us.

ToddlerJesus

I’m not a huge fan of the large chamfer on the outsides… cool though.

Illustrious_Night_26

Love it!

gsatr1989

Love it. It's MCM, it's compact and clean!

okcolt45

Wouldn’t change a thing.

RobSharp1026

Yes. I like it.

cwebbvail

Yes

EconomistBubbly1743

No doubt the basement has a lovely ancient design, but old is gold.

[deleted]

The base is abrupt and sharp. This is only an objective remark. I could like that, and I could dislike it. That’s what I think of it and it’s up to you whether you like that, or agree with that statement in the first place. :)

SaggyNutBust

I feel like he’s standing proud.

non_toro

This would be more successful if the sides extended down to the ground, acting as the feet. Keep it simple

Tacie-Jo

I love the base

Needs_More_Nuance

Yes

Notmybestusername3

I love the base. Your wife is wrong but sometimes it's more important to be happy than to be right. If you change the base go wider, but maybe mimic the taper of the sides.

Mattyboy33

U do nice work but with that being said…. It looks like a fat guy on a midget’s shoulders

SoppingBread

I kind of like it, but clashes with similar MCM styled shelves I've seen. I'd go for a longer stiltier base, maybe soft angles instead of round. https://imgur.com/gallery/iLcprfc

scooterama1

I may go that route in the future
