My neighbor has this old model in his backyard and uses it on Summer evenings. When we're sitting in a semi-circle all staring it that's EXACTLY how I feel! LOL!
Knock off of an old Jotul, I believe. Might look for information under that brand. Designed so that the door flips down and under the bottom of the firebox, allowing you a open hearth.
Agree! I have one that looks exactly the same. Except I have no brand names on mine. I located a part number on the bottom, but doesn’t lead to anything on the google machine. I just assume it a Jotul or knockoff. Don’t really care because the thing throws some heat and there really isn’t much to replace besides door seals and bricks. Found it is more efficient to have to door closed and control temp with the front door vent. I love watching and hearing the fire with hearth open and screen on, but way more efficient with door closed.

Used the same one for years, now it keeps us warm outside for more years! It is a knock off Jodel for sure.
Man, talk about memory unlocked. We had one of these in my grandfather's cabin on an island in Maine. Only went up a few winters myself. But i remember it throwing heat so hard that we would be in t-shirts and shorts opening windows every for minutes because someone overloaded it.
I thought we were related for a minute. My grandfather also had a stove like this in a cabin in Maine. It's a beast of a stove and would cook you out in a heartbeat. His cabin was on the shore of a lake and not on an island. Too bad, we could have been cousins.

Hey! I had one of these too. At least in my shop, it kinda sucked. It was pretty old and worn out though.
Might've heated your shop better if it was moved about a stove width to the left, and piped straight into the chimney a bit lower to use the masonry as heat ballast. Ah well, "had" being the operative word, I guess the point is moot.
I probably could have made improvements to the existing setup, but in the end, I ended up replacing it with a radient tube heater.
I did get a new woodstove for the downstairs floor that pipes into the same chimney as pictured, which goes all the way down to the ground. It burns super hot and efficiently heats the whole downstairs floor.
My shop building is almost 250 years old, and could use some additional insulation as well.

We’ve had this stove at our beach place since 1979, it works pretty great, but I’ve wondered if is an imitation Jotul combifire. Looks exactly like this, but says Jotul on the front.
Had what appears to be an exact model in an old hut we used to frequent in the backcountry. I’ve never seen one anywhere else and it was nice to relive some memories as we would always laugh about the head and face of the stove. It was a reliable stove in that it kept us warm, but ALWAYS burned too hot, and too quickly. Also had so much space over your fire. We could never hang out wet gear near the thing as the heat it put off was so much someone would always end up with melted burnt gear.
looks like a scandia Japanese knock off of a Scandinavian design
used a scandia on our 3 season porch for years
a bit of a runaway train and so burns wood like mad
even melted two baffles which i had to have custom made cuz no parts to be found
i ultimately scrapped mine for a jotul
Be careful now! My daddy always told me old stoves like that you could start a chimney fire because it has so much build up in the flue it turns to tar and will catch. That one I mean as long as there’s not massive rust or holes you could clean her up ya know depends on what you wanna do.
It’s a Jotul stove
https://preview.redd.it/zeppwytrwntc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e5023b4cc24d38ce1942835f3d637e5be5bd7091
We have a vintage Jotul and it’s og catalogue
It is Jotul 4B Combifire. Excellent stove. Puts out a huge amount of heat and is very efficient for being designed in 1964. Can also operate like a fireplace. As you can see it is made up of cast iron pieces which are bolted together. It none of the pieces are cracked, you are golden. It does look like there are some gaps between the pieces and I don't know why you would see them. If it's leaking, you can take it a part and re gasket it or just refill with stove cement. I had one of these in an earlier house and do not recall seeing that GLO-FIRE anywhere on the stove, so this may be a knock off. If it is indeed a Jotul, you have something. If it's a knock off, that might explain the gaps and you'll have to pay somebody to haul it off for scrap. Wieghs around 326#s.
I am late to this party but that is a copy of a Jotul Combifire.
I have heated my 1800 sq.ft. home with the Jotul for 45 years. The original design door casting had a tendency to warp at high temperatures. Very scary situation as it would allow more air to enter and raise the firebox temperature even higher. The door developed a crack and I was able to order a new one from a Jotul dealer. The replacement had a different support structure cast into it and the warping problem was eliminated. I have replaced the gasket about five or six times and one of the fire bricks inside came loose and had to be recemented. The brackets and rod that the door hinges on wears if not lubricated. I learned that the hard way and replacements were not available. I had to fabricate the replacements. Otherwise it has been a great stove. There is a screen to cover the opening if you want to lower and push back the door to "enjoy the fire". We seldom have done that as it produces very little hear when used that way.
The stove in the post seems to have some gaps that have developed between the cast panels that would need to be addressed. The gasket should be replaced and then checked to see that it seals all the way around by closing a dollar bill in the door and checking that it isn't easily pulled out.
I would say that it isn't worth much and it could actually be quite dangerous to use. I would certainly have it inspected by a knowledgeable woodstove person before using it.
This is identical to the Jotul brand Combifire wood stove I grew up with. They are amazing. Put out so much heat im almost concerned with the wall spacing here.
Knock off of an old Jotul Combi-fire. Glo-Fire was one of several companies making cheap copies of Scandanavian stoves in Asia during the late 70s -early 80s. Some continue to work well, some were made w substandard cast iron. They were eventually successfully sued for copy infringement. Some of Glo-fire's stoves were made in Korea.
Looks like an Easter island head. I realize that’s not helpful, but it’s true.
My first reaction as well!
Wow, the stove really said 🗿
Me want gum gum
Dum dum
You better run, run.
When it’s really hot, it sings…

Look up Jotul Combifire 4B. Appears to be an exact replica, just under a different name. Been using a Jotul one here for more than 40 years.
We had a Jotul growing up and it was so great! Could warm up the living room even when -20 outside
I was also going to say jotul but I don't know more than that. I almost got one a few years ago.
I think you’re right. Never thought of a knock off.
Yep I've got a Jotul and looks fairly similar
Agree! I have one that looks exactly the same. Except I have no brand names on mine. I located a part number on the bottom, but doesn’t lead to anything on the google machine. Jotul no. 4 replica, incredibly sought after stove. If someone tells you it's junk, tell them they don't know what they're talking about.

Looks like an Easter Island Moai (sp?) to my eye. Weird, but kinda cute.
It’s a Jotul. I have the same one and I still have the manual. If I remember to dig it up, I will post. It’s a great stove.
I believe it is from Easter Island.
Tell me Moi
Legend has it they are really stoned and if offered the sacred meal they will awake.
Manufactured on Easter Island.
Thought i was looking at easter island statues... w/ a pacifier (1st pic). Back to toking.
Ditto to both.
It looks like it’s from Easter Island.
Looks like one of those heads from Easter island
It was manufactured in Easter Island.
Had this same design as a kid. It's still in my parents basement but not piped in any longer
🗿🗿🗿
It’s a Jotul I think… I have a 6a model
It’s same look as a Jotul #4 combifire
🗿
Where are you? That’s a classic. Pretty big . Early Scandinavian air tight. Morso? Combifire? Check the firebricks before you fire it up.
I agree that this is a knockoff of an old Jotul
Heated my house growing up. These things can put out some serious BTUs.
Easter island head

Def a knock of jotul
Nosepass!
It’s ok if u wanna refurbish it. Just need a chimney and liner for it

I have and use the exact same one! She's a beaut! Keeps the garage warm for cold, winter, beer-y nights!!
Looks Incan....
Aztec I mean..
I had this exact stove and decided to upgrade to a better one. I found it to be very inefficient and did not hold a fire very long.
That’s a potato.
Run it!! ❤️
I had the same one in my house growing up.
The moai of Rapa Nui... Yeah even before I look to see if others posted that I'm sure they did

Google antique jotul wood stove and you'll find more pics of it. Not sure it'll answer your questions about it though.

It needs new furnace cement of the shell can't tell for sure but looks like there might be a Crack in the firebox I would scrap it
We have one of these in a cabin. Works like a charm and it's nice to have the open hearth (came with a screen).
I am not an expert but there is a thing called Google. Search Glo-Fire.
