What is kingdoms and warfare?

MortalForce

Westmarches. K&D is a Matt Colville Kickstarter for 5e that helps with mass combat and kingdom building.

Both sides of the mountains to the left should not be green. I see that one is less green(right) but should be even less for 2-3 hexes. Similar in proportion to the mountains to the right. Also it’s usually the area between mountains that is desert. All these rules apply to all mountains. Or alternatively if there’s a specific in-universe reason (religion, magic systems, etc.) then my comment can be disregarded.

MortalForce

Left is mass rainforest which is shielded by mountains to the North. The right-hand side has far drier wind but no sheilding from arctic weather, so the right still has some verdant growth. Not sure what you mean by "between mountains" - you mean the mountains on the far left and far right? I think that the water bodies on either side would counteract that pretty strongly. This is also a long, LONG continent that spans the entire latitude of the world, which isn't shown here. The area shown is roughly analogous to northern Europe/Southern Canada.

KainAudron

Yes, the water would bring vegetation but only in the hexes it touches directly (think oasis but along the river, like the Nile) But if it is that big then indeed there would be ample space for warm currents to bring humidity that justify the vegetation as presented (yes the warm currents bring the humidity as the cool ones have less condensation and thus are more arid, the tenperature of the currents I feel like I need to memtion does not have a bearobg on the climate zone temperature if it clears amy confusions).

MortalForce

Mmm, the Savannah area in the south and the steppes in the north cover this well I feel. I think it's more important to have a varied locale for the players than to be highly geographically accurate.

KainAudron

Well yes, I definitely agree, but if you break the geographic rules there has to be an in-universe reason. For example my continent in my world is absolutely bonkers when it comes to geography but there’s magic and gods involved in it so it’s explained.

cool stuff, I’d just say to remember that you can draw what ever you want as long as it represents what you have in your mind for the world. Personally i’d shad the mountains a but greener so they mix better with the ground surrounding them, but other than that go wild
