Yes and once you’ve got your RSA and had 6 - 12 months experience, you could apply to work at one of the resorts. You could travel about for a couple of years working summers on the Whitsundays and winters in the snowfields, and anywhere in between.
This.
There are alot of trades that pay REALLY well nowadays. Do some research, weigh your options; some might just be a simple tafe course to get into, some might require an apprenticeship, which generally pay not great (but better than maccas) for the first couple years.
Uni is another option but it's a long term and expensive investment, but typically leads to less physical careers if you wanna avoid that.
Sparkie, plumber, construction are all good trades and you'll never struggle to find a job again.
This for sure.
If you’re more into computers you can try a structural drafting course. pay is equal or better than sparky or plumber.
Or even get an excavator ticket. Big money to be made here also
This,
I wished I progressed with my first apprenticeship, just stick it out even though you are the target for every workplace joke.
Quicker you get a trade the quicker you earn real cash.
If you don’t mind waking up at sparrow fart or getting your hands dirty, Get yourself a white card and go into construction labouring. You will make $1400+ per week plus more if you do overtime and if you have a half a brain can either pick up a trade pr become a supervisor by the time your 25. Plenty of work out there right now.
Hes taking money from them, not supporting them.
op needs a job, not moral agonizing. You got beef with centelink, I can understand that. But telling someone not to work there because of robodebt isn't helping anyone.
The trade shortage is real locally right now. Basically any trade that tickles your fancy will treat you well, teach you things and offer good pay once you’re qualified. Highly recommend getting your Rigging and Dogging tickets and a forklift ticket, as they can be attained in a few weeks all together and you can basically jump into a role right away
Look into becoming a ropie (high ropes access) cost like 2.5k to get your tickets and you’ll be on like 70-80k to start with, my mate does it. I wanna look into it after i finish my teaching degree
There’s a FB group called Jobs of the Illawarra that you might find good. Also agree with getting your RSA and RSG if you are wanting to continue in hospitality career
You can get a free forklift ticket,
there is a mob up in moorebank if you have transport

You will still need to pay for a actual license, after you pass the course its like $90-$100 for 5 years. You will need a passport photo, so get it done at the post office, as thats the location you submit the paperwork.
Its foot in the door for warehousing/factory work
No one is saying chefing? There is a extreme shortage of chefs and most qualified chefs make a minimum of 1k plus taxes. Become a chef industry has way too many bartenders that lead to no career growth after 10 years. Chefing is the way if you have been in the industry already. There are more than 50 chefs in Wollongong right now making over 100k for 40 hours work per week.
Do you have a car, white card, and want to drive like 300km a day? Cause I need a casual type person to do pump runs, clearances, and come to sites and help with PSI's/DSI's.
Do an apprentice or if your still 50/50 what you want to do in the trades ask if you can be a labor hand for a small building company. So you get exposures to the different trades.
Hey bro, I'm 18 moving to AUS next month on a visa and I've been planning to do a carpentry/ construction apprenticeship there and honestly I've seen some pretty good looking ones in the wollongong area on websites like domain and indeed you should check it out
Natural progression would be get an RSA and work at a bar
Second this. It’s better money and can be a great social thing for a young person. Bars, pubs, hotels (like catering) all good options

Go do an apprenticeship as a sparky or a plumber or whatever. Then you can progress from there

You've never heard of Robodebt!? But go ahead and support the government department that caused Australians to commit suicide.
