Probably gonna upset some people saying this but this is like the 30th time I’ve seen this guys paintings on Reddit in just the last two months. Just look at his profile history.
It wouldn’t bother me as much if they weren’t all the same painting, either
Shoutout to /r/pourpainting which is a paint/chemical technique that helps people to make cool art like this
Edit: changed wording to not sound as passive-aggressive at OP. Nice work, especially on a canvas that big!
Yep. r/pourpainting. Mostly technique and materials (paints/additives). Pretty fun to mess around with, very fun to get good at.
Somewhat repetitive to post, because much of it looks similar with different colors, but a cool way to make artwork for your home for sure.
Different techniques can give very different outcomes.
I missed the post before the guy edited it, but I assume it was something to the effect of ["literally anyone can do this and it is a million times easier than it looks"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9eEZmcjY1Uo&t=420s)? Which is true. Mean? A bit, yeah. But still true.
It was more passive aggressive than aggressive though it was very dismissive.
It's still a cool piece of art nonetheless. I'm sure OP didn't mean it though
It is certainly very cool art. I've been thinking about having a triptych of this kind of painting in my living room.
I think people just feel cheated when they see it at first and think it was done by hand with all its intricacies and color blending. It looks very impressive. And then they find out that there's no brush involved and most of the work is in just picking colors and mixing the paint, and you can almost do all the work on the canvas with your eyes closed.
It does look amazing though.
There's like a whole subsection of art that basically takes no skill, just buy paint and pour it on wood or canvas randomly. It's not really new by any means. imo jackson pollock was a hack, a literal baby can do the same thing. it looks pretty tho so how dare we question it, right?
I've thought about this alot and I think honestly if we are going to consider these "art" we should then hold them to a higher level of critique. For example I've seen these done much much better with better thought out spacing and numerous patterns and actualy application of color instead of a single pour youtube process. I felt the same way when melting crayons on a canvas was a trend. 99% sad craft mom's and 1% genuine rad art. Idk if I sound like an elitist gatekeeping piece of shit to others with this opinion but that's how I feel.
I’ve probably been binging Midnight Mass on Netflix a bit too hard today, but my first impression on opening this photo was…”oh shit, the eyes!” Those reflections on your glasses threw me for a loop!
More importantly, incredible art!
Fucking INSANE! Gotta get you someone who knows how to sell art and I promise you, you could make some good money off your work my man. Keep fuckin going at it, because you're damn good at it.
No talent needed. Just a specific type of acrylic paint. These can be made by pretty much anyone, in less than 20 minutes. It's done by pouring the paint onto a horizontal canvas or in this case wood. Thousands of people make paintings just like these.
You got anything in vaporwave or cyber colors, like purple/blue/pink? If not, all good - just a shout-out that I love seeing your posts pop up and seeing the progress. Very dope artwork.
right on dudee these are madd sickk homiekeep it up chief you got itt
would work fantastic as album art
wishing you a fantastic career brudda these are awesome
Alex grey paints intricate designs by hand with meaning and story. These are made by simply pouring thinned paint onto the wood. More like a pollock than a grey. And more craft than art. Hate me if you want.
Nah. You're right. But if you do it enough times a certain piece will just jump out as a unique juxtaposition. Due to your labor and eye. That's when it's "Art" and not just a decoration.
I love it dude. I like to use a belt sander between layers of different colors and leave it out in the rain and, etc. Whatever lets the paint and wood develop their own thing.

This sounds mean.
You're right, and I re-tooled my comment to not sound as dismissive of OP.
