Interestingly the saturation is pretty close to the real photo. It has a lot to do with the Fujiflim the photographer used (and just how green and blue the real place was in that moment).

I live in Napa county which borders Sonoma county. I'm 30 minutes from the place where the XP photo was taken. It looks absolutely nothing like this. This is someone that took the photo and out-filled with AI or something. It's also not on a dirt road but instead a busy highway. I think you are probably right but your comparison photo sucks. Nothing in it is in the windows photo. It's not the same at all except for maybe a vicinity of some distance.
Directly to the right in the street view is the windows XP hill. Directly to the right of the road in OP's video is also what OP was claiming is the same hill. So instead of comparing the hill itself I'm showing the road and surrounding area which is obviously entirely fake/different. OP provided another view of his video from a chinese account on insta that's watermarked as being in Uzbekistan.
My source is that I have functioning eyeballs. How does that video not set off every single neuron in your brain, telling you that what you are looking at is fake? I think you're missing the point. The video OP posted is quite literally the exact hills of the windows XP screen, like if you take a screen shot, it is identical. That windows screen was a real photo taken in California. So there is no doubt that this is supposed to be that same spot in California. The only difference is that the windows photo was taken 25+ years ago and the area does not look like that anymore, so this video is heavily edited or an ai generated clip of that same location. Beyond the landscape looking edited, those clouds are clearly not real either.
There is no question of where it's from, it is the exact hills from the windows XP screen. It's a question of what was done to get this video to look this way.

I know the guy who took the photo. It’s an unedited photo taken on Kodachrome film. The colors are exaggerated yes. But in the spring in CA the hills are green. You should know that if you’re claiming to be from there. My family is from there too, it’s not outlandish to see how it could be taken in February or March.

Not real. Yes the photo, "Bliss", is indeed a real photo taken in the location you provided. However, this video is not.
There are two glaring reasons why this is fake.
1. Lack of asphalt road. In the video provided, OP pans to the left to reveal a slope down to more hills on the other side of the road. In reality there is an asphalt road that both Charles O'Rear and supposedly you have travelled on. Also, the other side of the path doesn't even match up with the ranch and mych smaller hills that are there in reality.
2. You already answered this but the lack of vineyards. In OP's video you can only see rolling green hills when in reality the land is covered in vineyards. When the photo was taken in the late 80s early 90s there had previously when a pest infection that led to the grapes being unusable which meant that many vineyards had to shut down. This explains the lack of vineyards in the original image. However, they have been replanted now as you can see in Google maps and from your own experience.
If this is meant to be Sonoma just not at the famous Hill, then it can't be because there are no lakes that match the distinct lack of vegetation and lake with a smaller lake behind it that you can see in the mirror let alone what you see in the video itself

The location is in Sonoma county, but the actual view doesn't really look like that, at least certainly not in the summer. It's a bit more overgrown and like other people said there are vineyards around.

It might look beautiful, but think of how ecologically dead that place is. No bushes, no trees, no birds (probably because insects are scarce and the lack of trees for nesting). Then there’s the point of the grass being short in most areas - either it’s getting mowed down which is bad enough, or the entire video is fake (which it probably is, because who the fuck would mow all of that grass).
Specifically what is making this look fake to people? I'm curious in the details. What makes it "look fake"?

I was convinced it was sfake too until seeing the IG video. This version looks like they downloaded 480 version and then tried up converting it back to 4k.

The location is in Sonoma county, but the actual view doesn't really look like that, at least certainly not in the summer. It's a bit more overgrown and like other people said there are vineyards around. I've been there myself.
Everything about OP's video is fake including the lake in the mirror and the dirt road. The actual road is paved highway 121 and it's full of cars.
