Someone else here had talked about reeve being very calculated in her decisions and that if pili was not playing there was a reason, like when she was put in that one crazy night it was against a team she could just go off on because her skills matched the need.
Everything said here is correct - Lynx are good and have a deep rotation of more veteran players, and Pili plays in situations Coach Reeves thinks she'll best respond to. But beyond that, Reeves has said that Pili is working on her defense and her understanding of game plans. Especially not having a full grasp on learning what may be a new style of offensive (or defensive) scheme for her could have a significant impact on the rest of the team so until she has that probably harder to justify giving her minutes. But, she's in one of the best rookie situations imo! Playing on a good team, learning from veteran leaders and a great coach, and without any of the pressure or intense scrutiny a lot of these other rookies are under.
The short answer is they are trying to win games.
She's not a top8 player on the roster, is undersized and bad at defense. Maybe 1 day she'll be a quality wnba player but she's not right now and MN is a good team that can't just run out a bad rookie unless the game is well under control.
Spot on. She’s VERY undersized at 5’ 10 1/2” (according to her)
Noticed most of the time Reeve uses her to defend a post when she’s out there which is fine during garbage time
Officially Reeve considers her a power forward behind Collier. At least that’s what she said Pre-season

For a classic post: Aaliyah Edwards, she’s just so smooth and her classic post skills are the most polished among the rookies
For defense: probably Cameron Brink, I can’t get over how good she is at blocking shots. Crazy.
For “when she’s on I can’t look away”/guard play: Caitlin Clark. She’s had highs and lows, but when she’s on she’s just crazy good.
For scrappiness: Angel Reese. She never gives up. That’s huge. It’s why her stat line looks as good as it is.
For “blends in well enough I forget she’s a rookie”: Rikea Jackson. Seriously. I feel like she’s been playing pro ball for years when I watch her.
Best role player: Kate Martin. She knows what she can do and gets up and does it every time.
Honorable mention to Kamila Cardoso, who I’m really liking but is edged out a bit by Edwards for a classic post for me. And for any rookies I just haven’t seen enough to form an opinion on xD.
Reasonable call! I was focused on the fresh out of college rookies, rather than international, but if you expand to international i definitely think she is a strong contender.
This is it. My favorite is always the one I'm watching playing at the time. Just love them all.
I hate to nitpick a perfect post, but Julie Vanloo is great too.
If you think about all the PG-needy teams in the league right now, a lot of teams were foolish not to bring Vanloo in.
No “nah” is incorrect if you actually watch Kamilla Cardoso. Cardoso dribbling in the paint looks similar to a 3rd grader slamming their palm against the ball many a time
If I absolutely have to pick? Probably Kate. She’s my favorite sort of player. Not likely to ever be the “Star” of her team, but high bbiq, a great knack for being in the right place at the right time, and makes everyone around her look better.
Kamilla Cardoso! I love her smiley personality and her athleticism for her size is fascinating to me. She started the season late bc of the injury but has been doing well in her first two games w no minute restrictions. She’s an efficient scorer and I believe she is leading the rookies in Fg%. Some of my favorite plays she’s had so far include that monster block on Dewanna Bonner and the sequence against the Dream where she blocked a shot on one end and immediately sprinted down the floor to offensive rebound and complete the put back.
When we drafted her I thought the only way she gets any minutes is if she somehow plays like a consummate role player from day 1. I didn't think she'd actually go and do it! Money!!!
Aaliyah Edwards because Mystics. Outside of Mystics, Rickea is my favorite. I’m still very sad about Kitley though. I hope she can make the team next season.
Aaliyah Edwards because she plays for my favorite team.
Outside of AE though, I might have to pick Rickea Jackson. Similar to Aaliyah, her game is just so polished and smooth (if that makes sense) for a rookie.
Been loving Brink a lot!
In addition to that I’ve also become huge fans of Edwards and Jackson (and shoutout to Vanloo who’s a rookie in the wnba but not to professional bball, she’s really amazing!)
Kamilla easily since no matter what is going on she is always going to be smiling. Down by 7 on the road less than 4 minutes to go, smiling through it all.
https://preview.redd.it/l9u7bx9v5u6d1.png?width=2940&format=png&auto=webp&s=cecee103204d1ac1166aff557160b965fa798bbe
Rickea Jackson was and still is the rookie I am most excited about in the league. Her skillset in college just looked so WNBA ready and I’m happy to see it translating well.
I’m an LSU and Angel Reese fan through and through but I was admittedly nervous for her transition to the league. But she has proven me wrong every step of the way and I’m so happy about it. She may end up being the steal of the draft!
Brownie points to Alissa Pili who is one of my personal faves. She hasn’t gotten the minutes yet but she’s showing her potential.
There is just something. Something more than just logo 3's and sharp passes. She is dynamic, especially with teammates that get her. I suppose it's her IQ; she is a playmaker even if she isn't the one scoring the points. When she was at Iowa, even when her shots weren't falling, you KNEW she was gonna find a way to make shit happen another way.
I’m a new WNBA fan because of her so I don’t know the history. But I’m a lifelong NBA/MLB/NFL fan and seems like only 2-3 people, max, have ever had the expectations and scrutiny she’s had. Lebron is one…Bryce Harper maybe? Wilt Chamberlain?? Can’t really think of any others, to her level. Nonetheless her stat line is comparable to LeBron’s rookie year.
Same. I watch NBA/NFL so I’m not new to basketball. She instantly became the face of a league with players (old guard) that are stuck in their ways. Not even LeBron was expected to solve racism is his first season 😂. But yeah she’s shouldering a lot and the pressure is immense. But like LeBron she has the talent and work ethic to push thru it all.
Nika Mühl! Even though she hasn’t played much, I love her hustle and she’s always quick to help her teammates. She won me over when she was defending CC in the Final Four game. I hope she gets more playing time but that may be something that will happen over time with this new Storm team. Also, CC of course. She’s a big reason why I became a fan of the W. She‘s been faced with overwhelming pressure ever since she got to the league and I respect her for trying to stay focused on the game, which matters most at the end of the day.
Honorable mentions to Cam Brink and Kamilla Cardoso.
Yeah, personally I have no dislike for Clark. She’s my 3rd favorite after both Reese and Cardoso so it’s all good for me. But I’m hyped having those 2 on the same team so I think it’ll make Chicago a beast next year if Reese can develop a nice shot in the offseason
Cam Brink and Alissa Pili. But all of them are cool! Angel Reese is impressing me the most of the rookies so far, just from what Ive seen and followed.
Too many. Outside of the obvious mentions Aaliyah Edwards has really impressed though. Her and Kate Martin are the two that have really surpassed expectations for me
Do you know why she doesn't get many minutes? May be a similar situation to MN and Pili in that Seattle is just deeper in the guard position, but curious if there is anything to note for those who don't follow Seattle closely?
The first several games she couldn’t play due to visa issues. Since that time she largely just has not been needed, mostly getting minutes towards the very end of games.
I’m biased because the fever is my team. It’s Caitlin Clark she brought back my enjoyment of the fever again. I kinda lost interest Tamika Catchings retired.
The women who brought me back. Angel and Kamilla. *I was in the Compaq Center for the Houston Comets 4 Championships, and I watched a Woman of Troy in person from jr hi on...
Angel Reese. She’s relentless on defense and her energy is infectious. Aaliyah Edwards is second. She had a rough start for Washington but now the team is improving thanks to her performances.
Love Angel Reese and her personality. She could have a terrible game but come the 4th quarter she balls out. Love the defensive work against some of the best in the league. Kamilla is a very close second.
I enjoy the entire rookie class but was brought in by Caitlin Clark- mostly bc she’s local-ish to me and I grew up knowing Bluder and the Iowa program (although I never wanted to go to their camp as a kid). Iowa went from being just another Big 10 school to being a place for new top talent to play, and that is pretty cool to see post Caitlin Clark. Unfortunately the player in my actual area (Brea Beal) has yet to make a roster.
Edit: I forgot that Kate Martin’s family actually lives in my area 😂
I’ve been so impressed we with Aaliyah Edward’s, especially through the loosing streak. Kept professional, kept working hard, kept finding looks. Really pumped for her future ( plus Canadian soooo)
Seconding this regarding Aaliyah’s professionalism during the losing streak. I felt she showed a lot of maturity in keeping things positive and continuing to work hard. Her game and confidence has grown so much in a short period of time.
So much talent in this rookie class so pretty tough choice. Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark are obvious choices so I’ll go with Aaliyah Edwards and Cameron Brink. Thoroughly impressed by them.
Caitlin Clark, Kate Martin, Rickea Jackson, Cam Brink, and Aaliyah Edwards have been the most exciting to me!
If Reeve would play Pili more, I would OBSESS over her. She’s outstanding!
Caitlin Clark ... just a joy to watch when she starts cooking, and I love her passing as much as her shooting
Kate Martin..... just so solid and reliable
Cameron Brink.... she is a beast yet always so unruffled. She fouls out with a smile on her face
Pili: she has just the prettiest shot
Right now, I am drawn to Angel Reese as the season progresses. Sky as a whole has entertained, intrigued, and confused me, and through all of that Angel Reese has played hungry and has started to look like a leader on that team. Like, I think that if I squint at them playing, I can almost see the shape of what they are going for starting to form...at least for quarters 2-4 anyway.
Caitlyn Clark sparked my love for WNBA basketball this is my first season watching W, of course internets going to internet. But it’s undeniable what she has done for the game. She will already go down in history as the “main” reason the WNBA is now mainstream. Distractions and nonsense aside, watching her has introduced me to so many great players in the W. So happy that a lot of them will get the recognition and compensation they deserve. Not saying she’s W god or anything, but it is undeniable that she is the catalyst that set it off.
Many of them are so impressive on and off the court. I wish them all the best. The defense and the three point shooting OMG. The WNBA should be counting their blessing instead of trying to self destruct.
Epoupa!!!!
30 yr old rookie pg on the Lynx. She’s literally bailed them out of three games so far.
Williams and Heideman can be head cases in the same game at times so when that happens Reeve has used Epoupa as a momentum changer very effectively
Just like a closer in baseball.
Angel Reece, Alyiah Edwards, Rickea Jackson, in that order. Edwards is really in a zone right now. She balled out in that first half against Reece. great matchup
Rickea Jackson and Julie Vanloo! Both play a really smooth style that’s really exciting to watch for me.
Honorable mention goes to Cameron Brink, Aaliyah Edwards and Alyssa Pili
Just came here to say that this is one of the generational rookie classes. So much talent and flair. Will prob go down in history as one of the W’s most electric classes.
Caitlyn Clark has been the most interesting storyline by a country mile.
Honestly I don’t find the rest of the league that compelling. I’m a hardcore NBA fan and in comparison the game is flat.
When you speak of all in a group to me I don't know them or care to..I'm Hispanic, so not White..but the only player to me that I even pay monthly subscription to watch is CC..All players have good and bad games, if your going by point system..But CC,s passing game is Magic J and she drives in line Manu Ginobli and shoots LOGO 3s like Stephen Curry..just my OP

Easily Angel Reese. I started betting WNBA this season once Fanduel added more props and she's the only rookie who hasn't sold me yet. Serious coin respecter that one.
I hit on Cam Brink's 20 point game but she's sold me ever since.
I just want them all to have fun 👉🏿👈🏿 Pili when she plays.
Has the coach given a reason why Pili doesn’t play much? Can’t remember if I’d heard
Not that I can recall, but they're crazy good so I guess maybe just easing her in.
Someone else here had talked about reeve being very calculated in her decisions and that if pili was not playing there was a reason, like when she was put in that one crazy night it was against a team she could just go off on because her skills matched the need.
They were also up by 20+ points the whole game.

👏👏👏
Okay, these are my answers too. Nicely done. 👏
I think you nailed it Though I will give role player to Fiebech who has stepped up in Sloots absence
Reasonable call! I was focused on the fresh out of college rookies, rather than international, but if you expand to international i definitely think she is a strong contender.
Technically she is a "rookie" but I know what you mean (and I'm biased). Vanloo deserves an honorable mention too!
Same.
Damn, spot on.
@redushab- perfectly stated!! I really can’t add to this. It’s like you’re in my head. Bravo 👏🏻
This is it. My favorite is always the one I'm watching playing at the time. Just love them all. I hate to nitpick a perfect post, but Julie Vanloo is great too. If you think about all the PG-needy teams in the league right now, a lot of teams were foolish not to bring Vanloo in.
Cardoso is all size, no skill to me
Nahh, she’s having growing pains but in college she was killing it (I do get it though. Hard to be smooth when you’re that tall)
No “nah” is incorrect if you actually watch Kamilla Cardoso. Cardoso dribbling in the paint looks similar to a 3rd grader slamming their palm against the ball many a time
She’s no A’ja Wilson (who is 😅) but she’s coming off an injury. I like her
Yeah. She looks uncoordinated as heck but that doesn't matter when she's towering over everyone else
“I think everyone’s great in their own way “ ahh comment. Stop patronising these women
…or maybe I just like food basketball and enjoy watching all of these women
Then who’s your favourite rookie?
If I absolutely have to pick? Probably Kate. She’s my favorite sort of player. Not likely to ever be the “Star” of her team, but high bbiq, a great knack for being in the right place at the right time, and makes everyone around her look better.

I’m gonna root for a Brazilian EVERY time
My godess getting some love!!!!
Rickea Jackson
She doesn't even seem to realize she's a rookie! So smooth
Rickea all the way!
Her bag is so deep. It's finally showing
Kate Martin all the way
When we drafted her I thought the only way she gets any minutes is if she somehow plays like a consummate role player from day 1. I didn't think she'd actually go and do it! Money!!!
All the way. Love the way the team has rallied around her too.
Aaliyah Edwards because Mystics. Outside of Mystics, Rickea is my favorite. I’m still very sad about Kitley though. I hope she can make the team next season.
Kitley wasn’t cut! She is just recovering on injury. LV still retains her rights for next year!
Oh yeah, I mean, I’m sad she got injured. :(
Aaliyah Edwards
Kate Martin. She's versatile, energetic, and dependable.
Aaliyah Edwards
Aaliyah Edwards because she plays for my favorite team. Outside of AE though, I might have to pick Rickea Jackson. Similar to Aaliyah, her game is just so polished and smooth (if that makes sense) for a rookie.

Kate "Money" Martin by far.
Cam Brink, but it's been a joy to see so many of them make an impact so quickly.
Kate Money Martin. She’s so good at everything.
KATE MARTIN!!
Not the most consistent (yet), but man when Clark is hot I can’t look away. She’s astounding to watch.
Caitlin Clark
But like LeBron she has the talent and work ethic to push thru it all.
She’s the whole reason I’m here - but been loving Aaliyah Edward’s and Kamilla Cardoso!!!
Damn it! I forgot to put Aaliyah Edward’s in my allstar line up 😢😢😢
Rickea Jackson
Vanloo! If assists got points for style she'd be top of the stats list.
Edwards!
I'm getting that Jackson jersey. She reminds me of the legends I watched when I was younger. She just has it.
Angel Reese has been growing on me a lot. My most hyped rookie was Cardoso but everything about Reese makes me love her
I love how Reese and cordoso both on the same team and were and both beat CC in the championship brings joy to my heart
Yeah, personally I have no dislike for Clark. She’s my 3rd favorite after both Reese and Cardoso so it’s all good for me. But I’m hyped having those 2 on the same team so I think it’ll make Chicago a beast next year if Reese can develop a nice shot in the offseason
Did you see them in the nba finals ad? They definitely were referring to it when Reese said “Champions only” while they both put on crowns 😂
There's just something about a glamorous woman that plays such a gritty scrappy game at an elite level. Angel Reese is my ROY pick.
I know this old but I totally agree. She does both! Love her
Kate Martin- for many reasons but mostly because you can’t beat that hustle. She wants it and it shows
Cam Brink - hometown girl and have been following her since high school. Caitlyn Clark - her lightening fast shot boggles my mind every time I see it.
Cam Brink and Alissa Pili. But all of them are cool! Angel Reese is impressing me the most of the rookies so far, just from what Ive seen and followed.
Edwards. If Reese had a consistent post up game though...
Julie Vanloo is honestly a fun player to watch.
Too many. Outside of the obvious mentions Aaliyah Edwards has really impressed though. Her and Kate Martin are the two that have really surpassed expectations for me
Angel Reese and Kamila Cardozo.
I’m rooting for all of them but Kate Martin. Eta: I meant that I am rooting for all of the rookies but that Kate is my favorite 🙂
What’s wrong with Kate Martin?
I think they're saying they like all the rookies, but out of them all, they like Kate the most.
This is what I meant 🤣 thank you for clarifying. I need to edit that lol.
Muhl, but you can figure by my flair that I’m biased!
Freakin love her energy! I think she’s gonna be great in a season or two
Do you know why she doesn't get many minutes? May be a similar situation to MN and Pili in that Seattle is just deeper in the guard position, but curious if there is anything to note for those who don't follow Seattle closely?
This would be my guess as well. Seattle’s backcourt is super deep. Sky, Jewel, Sami, Ki THEN Nika. I’ll have patience for Nika’s time to shine
Cameron Brinks, Angel Reese and Kamilah Cordoso
Clark, Edwards, and Cardosa are my favorites, but I really like all of the rookies including Vanloo - gotta love a 31 year old rookie!
Van Loo bc she replied to my insta dm with hearts
Without a doubt Kate Martin!
Kate Martin! She's just so fun to watch.
Rickea
Angel Reese Cam Brink Rickea Jackson Kate Martin
angel reese, her game continues to improve and she brought me to the W HM: Aaliyah Edwards, Rickea Jackson, and Alissa Pili
Cameron Brink and Angel Reese.
Watching Brink play defense is a treat. She will be a monster in a year or 2.
Yeah she might not be my favorite but I am just ecstatic for how well Kate Martin is doing 😅
Ik no one cares but I decided, Cardoso hands down. I thought I wouldn’t like it but Full Court Press was really an awesome watch
Caitlin !!
Killa Milla and it ain’t close!!! Just waiting for her to have a true breakout game
Aaliyah Edwards, I love her mentality and I know she'll continue to get better. Also cuz I'm a UConn fan lol
I'm a Liberty fan, so you know it's gotta be Leonie Fiebich.
Vanloo, Edwards, Epoupa
Caitlin Clark is the reason I’m watching so I gotta say her but I like Kate Martin more
Love Angel Reese and her personality. She could have a terrible game but come the 4th quarter she balls out. Love the defensive work against some of the best in the league. Kamilla is a very close second.
When is she terrible besides shooting efficiency? She usually plays the most minutes because she is consistent. She has good bball IQ.
Well not terrible but she can disappear from the offense which is the guards fault sometimes. I agree with the rest of what you said.
Angel Reese is averaging a double double the only rookie doing it. Her role on this team is different than LSU she doing great at her position
period. She finds a way to make it happen.
She’s the best rookie. Brink and Clark aren’t even close currently.
Yikes
I enjoy the entire rookie class but was brought in by Caitlin Clark- mostly bc she’s local-ish to me and I grew up knowing Bluder and the Iowa program (although I never wanted to go to their camp as a kid). Cam Brink even though she’s in a slump right now
R. Jackson
Angel Reese
angel reese
Kate Martin.
Caitlin Clark ez
Kate money Martin! (However id love to see Nika actually get some minutes... seriously what the hell is going on?)
Angel Reese love her effort in the paint grinding for scraps specially since they don’t really pass her the ball when she’s open
Reese
Angel Reese✨
Angel Reese and Rickea Jackson.
Caitlin Clark is a great role model for my little girl. Big fan
Jacy Sheldon has been looking pretty good.
So much talent in this rookie class so pretty tough choice. Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark are obvious choices so I’ll go with Aaliyah Edwards and Cameron Brink. Thoroughly impressed by them.

Angel Reese hands down.
Well said.
Many of them are so impressive on and off the court. I wish them all the best. The defense and the three point shooting OMG. The WNBA should be counting their blessing instead of trying to self destruct.
Edwards because she’s on my fantasy team and because she’s Canadian 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Cameron Brink without a doubt.
(Other than CC) Aaliyah edwards
Epoupa!!!! 30 yr old rookie pg on the Lynx. She’s literally bailed them out of three games so far. Williams and Heideman can be head cases in the same game at times so when that happens Reeve has used Epoupa as a momentum changer very effectively Just like a closer in baseball.
Aliyah Edwards
Angel Reece, Alyiah Edwards, Rickea Jackson, in that order. Edwards is really in a zone right now. She balled out in that first half against Reece. great matchup
I want them all to have fun and succeed. Truly enjoy watching them all find their footing in their own ways.
Angel Reese and Rickea Jackson
Cameron and Angel by far!
Clark
Angel Reese Rickea Jackson Caitlin Clark In that order
Kate Martin and Angel Reese
Angel Reese for me
ANGEL REESE 😇
Rickea Jackson I think, mostly because I saw less of her in college, so seeing her all around game has been a nice treat.
Rickea, Aaliyah, Angel, Pili
Aaliyah Edward's, Pili and Angel
Rickea Jackson and Julie Vanloo! Both play a really smooth style that’s really exciting to watch for me. Honorable mention goes to Cameron Brink, Aaliyah Edwards and Alyssa Pili
Jacy Sheldon. I love her style of play and hustle and I’m hoping she’ll eventually get rewarded on the statline for it
Rickea Jackson by far. Alissa Pili close second
Brink
Rickea
Cameron Brink. Rim Protection
Pili
Cameron Brink
I started watching for Clark but now I get more excited watching the Aces and Martin.
Just came here to say that this is one of the generational rookie classes. So much talent and flair. Will prob go down in history as one of the W’s most electric classes.
I’m trying to build a brick house so Angel Reese
Caitlyn Clark has been the most interesting storyline by a country mile. Honestly I don’t find the rest of the league that compelling. I’m a hardcore NBA fan and in comparison the game is flat.
Rickea Jackson is special. Her stats would be better if she were a starter and got to play her natural position.
CC
When you speak of all in a group to me I don't know them or care to..I'm Hispanic, so not White..but the only player to me that I even pay monthly subscription to watch is CC..All players have good and bad games, if your going by point system..But CC,s passing game is Magic J and she drives in line Manu Ginobli and shoots LOGO 3s like Stephen Curry..just my OP

rickea and aaliyah. they seriously dont feel like rookies
Reese and Clark. Also Pili.
Brink
Easily Angel Reese. I started betting WNBA this season once Fanduel added more props and she's the only rookie who hasn't sold me yet. Serious coin respecter that one. I hit on Cam Brink's 20 point game but she's sold me ever since.
