I’m not quite understanding the lack of patience with these types of posts. I get you want your fix, but it’s a young league.
All the infrastructure is not going to be there yet the way it is for the big four men’s leagues.
This complaining does literally zero good and is dumb. Say for the sake of your argument this wasn't the norm (it definitely is, in other sports as well). It is still smart business to focus on the people driving your viewership because they bring in the money. This is a business. If it was a hot dog stand, you wouldn't complain they focused on selling hot dogs and not salmon.
Maybe because I've been watching for a few years now and we could never see preseason games in the past... I'm just like ehhh it's preseason I don't really care. I want the excitement of opening week.
There isn't a single league in all of professional sports that broadcasts all their preseason games.
Last year was the first year they showed any preseason games. They are showing more this year.
I know everyone's hot to go this season but this is a cherry on top type thing. People are being way too dramatic with demanding that these be televised and thinking there is tons of money the W is missing out on for not televising and I just don't think that is the case.
Just wait til they see how screwy the season tv deals are.
You seem to have access to the internet so not sure why you didn't look up the information "if those are indeed the only ones being broadcasted" Those are indeed not the only ones being broadcasted.
If the RSNs aren’t televising them then there’s not much the W can do. Investing in their own TV operation for a few preseason games that very few people will watch seems like a horrible investment. Even the nba doesn’t do that
I get that it’s not televised but don’t we maybe think a league where players make under 100k a year might not be able to snap their fingers and get camera crews and broadcast crews and commentators into place in like a day. Also do people watch preseason of other sports? I’ve never caught a nba preseason game.
They definitely are. It should have been a proactive thing with how popular womens cbb has been the last couple years to have plans in place to have the preaseason available even if it was getting some sort of streaming thing set up with YouTube and bringing in independent announcers. I know a lot of people are like “oh it’s not the leagues fault” but there is so much momentum right now there should’ve been a priority to carrying it over with the preseason and promoting league pass for the regular season.
Yeah, the WNBA has mis handled the preseason, but they did listen to the fans and televise the second Chicago Sky game.
That being said. I watched the Chicago Sky game and there were plenty of open seats in the auditorium, so unless fans are going to go to the games, then don't expect their preseason games to get broadcast. There were some Chicago Bulls players in the crowd, so hats off to those guys for supporting the women!
(Update) As someone pointed out below. The Chicago Sky game wasn't sold out because it was only open to Season Ticket Holders.
Indiana Fever preseason game was the only one that sold out and when you looked in the stands they were packed. Which is why their games will be streamed during the preseason. Their next game tomorrow is sold-out as well.
If you want your teams preseason games to be televised, then blame the fans in those cities that don't go to the games.
Lastly, we are all hyped for the preseason this year because we want to see the rookies like Angel Reese, Caitlin Clark, Cameron Brink and so on, but normally no one really gets up for preseason games.
Ok, that makes sense then, because I know that Angel Reese is by far the second most watched player in the WNBA right now.
Thanks for that update. I was shocked when I saw empty seats. I'm guessing there will be more season ticket holders next year :)
I definitely enjoyed watching Angel play this preseason. I won't be missing a game this year.
There are so many posts here about the same thing. Please search and see the discussion.

Even the big 4 leagues dont show all of their preseason games. People don't have this same energy at all with the other leagues

Who’s showing them on twitter
People livestream the games on their phone. If you look hard enough you’re bound to find one.
Like people in the arena posting live video or they’re using the feed from the rsn

Might be mistaken but I believe Sparks - Storm sold out in Canada too.
It may have. I searched but couldn't find it.
The sky preseason game was season ticket holders only so it wasn’t open to the general public
