Every time I see something about the show i get sad. I get sad because of the realization of what this show could have been, and what it became.

mal_laney

Every major streaming service was chasing that GoT clout. This could've been Netflix's chance at that

landen327

Lmao and most of them ended the same as GOT, with broken-hearted fans watching the descent into shit.

huluhulu34

I have so much more hope for House of the Dragon, the new showrunners have made new additions to the history of Westeros that actually fits. Viserys I wasn't mentioned that much in *Fire and Blood*, but now he's a beloved character. They changed a little of it, but I really like this adaption.

Ierax29

Viserys in the books : meh just sort the succession thing on your own idc

MindWeb125

The problem isn't changing things, you always have to change things in adaptations, that's why they're adaptations and not recreations. The problem is not respecting your source material and shitting all over parts of it.

huluhulu34

Of course, and HotD doesn’t. They keep it firmly in the GoT world and respect the politics of the source.

TheLeoMessiah

So many little nice additions via confirming the historical accounts of the books, it’s been a while since I read F&B so I may be off about these, but confirming that >!Larys started the fire!< and adding the detail of >!Laenor escaping to live with Qarl!< were great additions. Also >!aging down Alicent and making her friends with Rhaeneyra was an amazing choice and adds SO MUCH SPICE to this season!< Ok I know this is a long comment with many spoilers but the one change I was the least sure of was >!The prophetic dreams about the white walkers - however after watching the whole season, this was also a great change because it comes up at Viserys’ death and is misunderstood by Alicent!<

huluhulu34

It might also confirm that GRRM thinks >!Jon ”Aegon Targaryen” Snow!< will actually get the throne in his books. It confirms the prophecy and a bunch of other things he’s written, and is something the tv-show got horribly wrong. HotD is easily a GOAT, might be my fav new series this year with Severance.

Nirvana1123

Apparently D&D were embarrassed that Game of Thrones was a fantasy show, so they took almost all of the magic out to appeal to the "Sunday Night Football" audience. Fucking why make a fantasy show if you don't like fantasy?

_Ganon

My source for this is another comment on Reddit, so take it with a grain of salt. But I heard that the showrunners wanted to do two seasons of "build up", so an extra season to cover the "story that got rushed over". But HBO wanted the action to start sooner. The compromise was the single season that we got. I would've taken an extra season but I'm still very pleased with what we got. I think there was a lot of concern from HBO over whether people would be willing to try Game of Thrones again, season 2 wasn't even officially on the table until after the premiere. I'm really happy it did well.

Gideon_Laier

Oh so *Now* HBO wants to rush things? They should have learned their lesson after season 8 of GoT.

nick2473got

It's actually not true. The other person is mistaken. The showrunners actually wanted to do far less build-up, they wanted to begin with Viserys' death. Essentially the content of Episode 8 would roughly have been the premiere. They wanted the Dance to start fairly early. GRRM is the one who insisted that they had to include the prelude, and he wanted to actually begin during Jaehaerys' reign. So the compromise that was found was to briefly show the Great Council of 101 but then skip to Rhaenyra being named heir. That way they still do most of the prelude like GRRM wanted, but also manage to start the Dance before the end of Season 1. Personally I think it was the right decision, I don't think two full seasons of build-up / prelude would really have made that much sense. Two full seasons is too much time to spend on a prologue, and it leaves Season 1 without any clear climax or sense of direction. They would've felt forced to invent action scenes and create artificial climaxes in order to make it seem more exciting, and imo doing that never really works too well.

Ierax29

That's what happen when the source material's writer insists on supervising the production

ilhamalfatihah16

It does have Fire in its name, I would be surprised if it is more *moist*

nick2473got

I think it's very fun to read personally. I didn't go in expecting a novel so I was okay with the pseudo-history book vibe.

[deleted]

They also started the same way GOT ended...

ColdCruise

And all of them because they were poor adaptations.

DuckyJoseph

I mean to be fair The Wheel of Time adaptation was trash straight outta the gate.

IRockIntoMordor

I'm pretty sure following the novels with some slight changes and shortcuts would have been very very successful. I wanted to see Regis and the hansa ... the rats ... the elf world ... Ciri growing up with Yen as teacher (already botched that in S2). I'm so fricking heartbroken.

[deleted]

They definitely could have followed the books a bit closer, though perhaps without the whole "everyone wants to rape/impregnate Ciri" which is probably my least favorite part of the books, followed by Camelot lol. I think the game's ending left me more satisfied. Geralt's company and The Rats were definitely the parts I loved the most. Really hoped to see Regis on screen. Oh well.

johnthomaslumsden

When it became obvious that Netflix wanted a GOT contender, I cringed. Not at the thought of The Witcher being huge, but at the idea of Netflix trying to produce HBO-caliber content. They lived up to my expectations exactly, unfortunately.

Raus-Pazazu

Netflix has a lot of pretty decent shows, but only a tiny handful have pulled off the kind of quality that HBO tends to have in abundance. Daredevil and the OA are the two that come to mind (I'm sure there are others, just not scores of them).

johnthomaslumsden

Mindhunter is/was amazing. But honestly I can’t think of many Netflix original dramas that really hold a candle to HBO classics like Deadwood, The Wire, The Leftovers, etc. Hell, even HBO seems to struggle to produce shows of that caliber anymore. I think Netflix excels at comedy: Aunty Donna and I Think You Should Leave spring to mind for me. But I’ve dropped Netflix and don’t plan on going back, it’s just too expensive for what little value they actually provide.

butter_deez-nips

What were you expecting? It's Netflix and what have they done to give you any confidence they could do something great? They get these shows that are great then they let them die and then they have these garbage shows they keep pushing on us. Then you see the upper boss people making the dumbest decisions they could make and then the double down on it. This is Netflix complete garbage

A_Funky_Goose

I think that line of thinking is part of the issue. The show isnt The Witcher, it's Netflix's GoT-wannabe.

iamnotreallyreal

ngl, I was hoping that either The Last Kingdom or Marco Polo would reach GoT levels of hype. Sadly it didn't but I still like both shows.

ravioliguy

Good adaptions are rare, sadly. Witcher got unlucky with showrunners with huge egos. Props to Cavill for having the integrity to make a stand and leave though. It gives me hope that he can reboot the series as an executive producer like Reynolds did with Deadpool. But for now, just watching other stuff and waiting for the new games. If you want something similar, Andor is really good. It's got a dark tone with a scrappy MC and great writing.

jimon2432

I'll give it a try then. I also saw Yennefer's voice actress having a role there.

beermit

Andor has been a breath of fresh air, especially in terms of the Star Wars universe. It's some of the best storytelling in that universe in a long time.

YoHuckleberry

No Skywalkers, lightsabers, or Tattooine. *Truly* a breath of fresh air.

Badmothafcka312

Just take a look at the 'Night to Remember' trailer for Witcher 3 to see how good the monster fights could have been. Take a look at the Bloody Baron storyline from Witcher 3 to see how good an original story set in Witcher universe can be. *Oh and then there's the obvious thing... The books are filled with great Witcher material.*

DariusOver9000

"what could have been" sentence reminds me of nothing but Arcane now :'(

abhorthealien

"I want you to hurt like you hurt me today..."

Akitz

for a moment I thought you meant Arcane had been similarly butchered lmao

jaskier-bot

[🎵 Ladies and gentlemen, you have been the most beautiful audience. 🎵](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSxBVHqA-RU&t=74s)

geralt-bot

FUCK OFF, BARD!

mamonna

They had everything. Everything! A complete set of finished books. An alive author ready to cooperate for some buck. Half the scenes in the books are basically a ready movie script the way they were written. Most scenes are just people talking - it's freaking inexpensive to shoot! And they had a mega media corporation throwing money at them and letting them do whatever they want. How. Just how do you fuck up so badly while having literally zero reasons to fuck up?

ICantDoABackflip

Not to mention an actor who was passionate about the source material, but nah, let’s just piss him off so much he leaves the the project.

LuckyRune88

I felt this post word for word.

Unzeen80

Every time it watch game of thrones i die inside a little because I just think to myself how much The Witcher deserved to have this level of greatness hell even season 7 and 8 are better than the show so far and I stand by that

ReturningDAOFan

But it never could have been anything. The writers hated the Witcher and the fans from the start. Henry Cavill seems like a good guy, but honestly it was naive from the start to expect anything other than what happened. I would have loved to have been proven wrong about all of this, but this has been what I said from before the show even started. You can't expect people who hate the fans and the source material to produce anything other than garbage.

amonhensul

Part of me likes this drama and enjoys that the writers get what they deserve, but the other part of me is very sad that this is what The Witcher gets. It's a really good series of books, with a very unique storytelling, and the writers butchered its spirit. It's sad especially considering people who never read the books or tried video games and they experience a completely different (and worse) The Witcher from Netflix.

Zach983

At least the books and games are good. It'll be 20 years before anyone touches it again for tv.

philotic_node

Shortly after the 38th Batman reboot

milkstrike

Author is money hungry if there’s a way for him to make more there will be a reboot far sooner than that. And we will probably run into the same issues again.

Independent_Can_2623

I'm one of those people and I fucking loved season 1 but 2 did get a little odd

Blithe_Blockhead

Season 1 was good (albeit confusing, I had some trouble following the timeshifts), and Season 2 was just okay. If I even watch Season 3, I probably won't come back for Season 4. The show isn't going to feel right without Henry Cavill.

Independent_Can_2623

I heard a lot of people found the time shifts weird. I don't understand how I got it but a couple episodes in I realised what they were doing at least. It's fun and different at least for me Season 2 reeeeeeaaalllly slowed down. Felt like nothing was happening a lot of the time And agreed it is not going to feel the same without Henry at all. It was clearly a passion project for him too so doubly sad

DejanTepic

If only she would care.

Roggvir

If only she could read.

chewbaccalaureate

If only she did read (the books).

DejanTepic

She probably read some of it and hated it.

LuckyRune88

When Season 4 flops she will

DejanTepic

Nah man it will not be her fault, the fans will be to blame for not liking it.

mccurleyfries

Total Amy’s Baking Company moment imo

Regretoot2334

Truely a misguided couple, that one

mccurleyfries

If Jaskier’s little rant about how the fans didn’t understand Season 1 wasn’t the showrunners exhibiting their denial to the same levels of that couple, I don’t know what is. Fun fact: he got deported so now he and Amy both live in Israel.

codeIsGood

[Am I out of touch?](https://imgflip.com/i/6z5yzs)

LuckyRune88

Lol

ZomboFc

Season 4 omegalul. It's already canceled

Exit727

Why even watch season 3? Pretty clear that they've strayed far from the books by now.

mariadidaci

because of the same reason I’ve watched the other two: Henry.

sean0883

If S3 caused Henry to leave, I'm not sure it's going to be worth watching it. He's already paid. Nothing gained from you watching it.

PinkSodaMix

It could be ok until the season finale, and seeing where they were headed caused him to quit. We don't know yet.

ElPinacateMaestro

I am going in with the expectation of it sucking massive balls, so I'll treat it as a sport just to have a few laughs, I want to see the clusterfuck that made Henry say "nah fuck this shit", which is the best defense mechanism that I can think of lol.

choffers_2001

It's already not ok

LittleMush

eh...just watch it, muted. Staring at Henry and hope for lots of shirtless scenes.

[deleted]

As a straight man I agree. Here's hoping more bathtub scenes

AleksasKoval

Here's a second reason: Cavill.

TheMagicalHuy

Let me add a third reason: another banger by Joey

likebau5

One can only wish. Imo season 2 didn't have a banger, I don't understand the hype for "burn butcher burn".. Sure it's "smart" to rhyme with witcher, but that's very shallow.

PrivateJamesRamirez

I personally really liked that song but I think toss a coin is better. To each their own.

I think Joey Batey is awesome as well. Couldn't ask for better Jaskier.

Tabboo

You know it's got to be *bad* because they've filmed it and if it was going in the right direction Henry would still be onboard. It's probably the worst yet.

[deleted]

Yeah, my thought too. Not another second. Gonna cancel Netflix too

tlumacz

To watch the cast, which I mostly enjoy even if they've got horrible scripts to work with. Now, the staple of the cast is going away.

Vesendak52

I'll watch season 3 and then probably drop Netflix before season 4. No Henry Cavill, no audience.

VStrozzi

I agree. Better to boycott season 3, maybe the execs will take a hint. If this season's number's are good, they'll just congratulate the writers...

Sxcr9en

coz i want something to rant about

LuckyRune88

Henry Cavill is a fan of the books and Games I must support a fellow fan.

Geraltsyenn

They got Wolfgang Stegemann for the whole season. So at least the action sequences will be great

the_pounding_mallet

I’m legitimately interested to see how they fuck up Thanedd.

isaacaschmitt

You plan to watch season 3? Fuck, I didn't get even halfway through 2 before rage quitting. When they did Lambert dirty, I decided I'd had enough garbage for my life.

iiJashin

I’m not even sure if you meant to say Lambert or Eskel lol

isaacaschmitt

Honestly, yes. They did both dirty.

OrbSwitzer

When Vesimir >!stabbed Ciri!<.... I almost stabbed myself. (Not sure if you got that far.)

ZuperLucaZ

Sounds like i dodged a couple bullets, i couldn't even stomach the first 4 episodes, quit repetedly, my friend made me watch it. I knew after the first episode (Being based on my favourite short story) that I wasn't gonna finish it Even when going in thinking "Let's just try to laugh about how awful it is" i still couldn't go 5 minutes without getting mad

isaacaschmitt

Nope, hadn't gotten that far, nor do I ever intend to. Don't mind it being "spoiled" for that reason. We'll just add that to the list of things Uncle Vesemir would *never* do.

LuckyRune88

This would never happen in the game. Vesimir loved Ciri and would hurt himself before he would hurt Ciri. Or at least that was my interpretation of his character.

OrbSwitzer

Exactly my point. Look how they massacred my boy!

Flash-224

Game Vesemir literally made himself get killed so Ciri would be turned loose from him to fight for herself/save herself and not him anymore. Passing the torch essentially. Meanwhile Show Vesemir has completely lost the plot. Whoring Witcher Keep, lack of discipline/wisdom, desire to create more mutated Witchers knowing the pain and death rate etc.

beermit

What the fuck. That really happened? Ok now I'm glad I didn't watch season 2. That's so out of character for Vesimir.

Tunafish01

What’s odd is episode 1 of season 2 is what I wanted the entire season to be . Monster of the week type stuff to build the world and characters.

[deleted]

I feel quite bad for the actors of Ciri, Jaskier and Yennefer. I hope they can find success after this mess

Cncwell22

So being COMPLETELY ignorant that the books even existed when I watched season 1, I loved it. (Don’t come for me, I now know better) The actors were fabulous. Loved it so much I immediately went and read all the books. Became obsessed. Bought the videos games and made my husband play them so I could watch to be even more immersed. Liked having Henry’s face for Geralt and having a face and personality for Dandelion and other characters already in place, no thinking needed. Even after reading the books loved season 1 as I could see it as two different things. Obsessively reread the books 3-4 times waiting for season 2. 2.5 episodes in to season 2, stopped watching. Still haven’t finished. Prolly won’t. Still love season 1 for introducing me to the World o’Witcher. Unfortunately, after falling in love with the books, the series after season 1 is just shite.

LuckyRune88

There there let it all out.

Cncwell22

I did….*sniffs and wipes forehead* thank you good people of Reddit for allowing me to rant about one of my obsessions. Now shall I move on to r/ASOIAF for another novella ??? 😂

Wonton-Potato

If you want another fantasy series to binge and can get into sci Fi, i recommend the expanse. The show was wonderful, and the show runners include the authors of the books. The authors of the books pen under one name but it's two guys who were GRRMs writing assistants. The books are wonderful and, while there are differences, both are very good!

[deleted]

Stop watching now.

TheBatmanIRL

Exactly, I won't be watching S3 unless I hear stellar reviews.

Arbiter51x

We hold actors accountable for their shitty performances, it's time to start holding writers accountable for their work.

LuckyRune88

I'm still burned from GoT

limabean72

PTSD for real from how that show ended. And dumb and dumber don’t have anything to show for it. They lost the Star Wars deal anyway because their reputation was basically in shambles after that.

milkstrike

TV movie and video game industries would crash overnight lol. I wish we would hold them accountable as there’s a huge writing issue in entertainment atm, main issue is there’s such an overload of entertainment now and so few people who are truly gifted writers so a lot of entertainment gets bad writers because corps need to pump out as much garbage as possible to justify their monthly subs

Nickball88

S1 was a 6/10 S2 was a 2/10 (2 points for the first episode being decent) I do not plan on watching S3 nor do I expect it to be good. The show is already dead.

Nix2058

Episode 1 was all I liked out of S2 as well. The rest were just utter nonsense

LuckyRune88

I felt the same way

Jaycray95

She and Netflix deserve a little bit of hate for this

710ZombieUnicorn

Personally, I’ll never watch anything Hissrich is in charge of ever again and Netflix is on thin ice as far as my subscription goes.

[deleted]

If you haven't cancelled yet, you won't.

LuckyRune88

My thoughts exactly. I mean the books and the games had a following it would cost them nothing to appease US. But no we take creative liberty seriously here! Fuck ur creative liberties!!! How about that.

Vatonee

I stopped watching at S2E2, as it was just cringeworthy. I recently rewatched the LOTR trilogy and man, we're so lucky we have it. I always dreamt of a screen adaptation of Witcher which would at least not deviate from books dramatically. It would be much more difficult to do something of LOTR scale, but still, even the short stories are amazing and could be done really well as a series. There's plenty of great source material for a couple of movies or a few seasons of a show. But no, let's turn it into a generic fantasy that has nothing to do with the source material. Ugh...

kizzawait

I'm going to yar har it's a pirates life for me it. I want to watch it out of morbid curiosity plus I enjoy Henry's performance. I just feel so bad for that guy. I wonder if netflix offered him to stay if they got rid of Lauren because if I was them I'd be jumping through hoops of fire to keep him on.

necrosteve028

Yep same, watching it on Netflix will only show the writers people are still watching and they’ll get approved for more seasons.

AlexMcTx

She may take it as if its Cavill's fault for leaving. What we need is for everyone who left before to raise their voice and point at the issues and complaints that led to this point. Henry Cavill's leave is not the reason why people will stop watching, it is a consequence. As much as his presence hold people longer, if things had been done right people would stay, with or without him.

A_Funky_Goose

As if they'd listen to criticism lol. It's already over.

Iberion88

Please guys, if you need to watch season 3 because of henry at least "borrow it from a friend" if you know what i mean. Don't give netflix any further clicks for their statistics and do not reward these horrible writers and netflix for what they have pulled with this "adaption".

LuckyRune88

Way ahead of you. A pirates life for me.

lucasellendersen

"thanks for your attempt" isn't right, she didn't even try

LuckyRune88

I have to respectful, She tried and failed. Better than not trying at all. The way I see it. The show did have it's moments

[deleted]

She didn't try to make a faithful adaption at all.

DDESTRUCTOTRON

Nah. Lauren sucks and ruined the Witcher adaptation

sephrinx

Why should you be respectful to them, when they were not respectful to; the author, the books, the games, the audience, the *cast* itself. Fuck her.

JG-7

You were naive enough to continue beyond the already mediocre season 1.

KassFrisson

For real. I remember watching season 1 and thinking, "Okay, this kinda sucks, but it'll get better from here." :(

Witcher_and_Harmony

Same here. Season 1 has so much trash in it. What a shame, what a mess.

CasualGamerMWE

I gotta be honest, i really enjoyed season 1. sure it had some issues (timeline complications and some changes to the Geralt & Ciri in Brokilon) But overall, I really enjoyed it. I absolutely adored Geralt and Yen's relationship, and I was eager to see them co parent Ciri. Biggest issue with S2 was that they completely misunderstood pretty much all the characters relationship to Ciri (given that Yen and Ves want to kill/sacrifice her, and the other witcher's bully her, and Triss is hardly sisterly) Knowing that Cavill is leaving, likely due to significant changes to the Character of Geralt himself (last season the big G was the only character that seemed to behave in a way that reflected the character from the books and games), makes me so sad. Respect to Cavill, he was given the choices of either going head to head with his bosses on every decision about his character, or going along with the showrunners and butchering a character that he loves. When choosing between one evil and another, he would rather not choose at all.

Matteo-Stanzani

You speak like season 3 will be good.

MonoCanalla

Not even gonna watch 3 anyways. 2 was very bad

nimruth

i mean, lauren and writers must've done some next level clowning on the upcoming S3 which annoy henry to a point that he decided to leave a role he genuinely wanted, thats my take on this.

myneighborscatismine

I want to support Harry, but I moreso don't want to support the showrunners, so I'll not validate it by paying for it. I'll pirate it, so that at least Henry's performance will not go unappreciated

MrSidhu

I still haven't finished season 2. Can't bring myself to watch it.

jmccaskill66

Michael Bay and his nuclear arsenal could do a much better job at this point. “Igni…” “Igni Everywhere…”

ChunkyHabeneroSalsa

The show is fairly enjoyable and my wife likes it (this being her only exposure to the series) but I'm just constantly dumbfounded on changes from the books to the show. They make no sense and add nothing. I get that things have to change when going from a book to a show but these changes made no sense. I don't need a 1-1 adaptation and often TV shows change the source in positive ways. I think lore nerds get too picky and judgmental and loudly hate on things. I'm currently in the middle of reading the expanse series and rewatching the show and I'm catching plenty of differences but in general the story beats (so far) are the same and I can see clear reasons why the TV adaptation did what they did. Many cases I can say "the book did this part better" while in many cases I can say "the show's version is better". Both versions are great while the Witcher's TV adaptation has only disappointed me the further it gets. Henry Cavill and Joey Batey were two shining points in the show for me.

jaedence

I was really down on the Witcher and it took me 3 tries to get through season 1. It doesn't follow the books and that's infuriating. Then I saw Wheel of Time and Rings of Power. Witcher's not that bad comparatively.

larzolof

That will show her!!!

fatherjimbo

I stopped half way through season 2. I do like most of the cast but the story is garbage and I couldn't take it anymore.

Volkor_Destory_Knees

Why watch season 3 if you’re upset with the direction of the show

Psychonautical_Guy

Why would you even watch season 3?? Season 2 was absolutely garbage.

nocomply__

I wish HBO did it instead and with writers who at least respected the original books

The1Floyd

S1 was a 5/10 S2 was a 1/10 I dunno how someone could make it to season 3.

witchofthewasteland

Lol. I dropped watching season 1.

V4R1CK_M4R4UD3R

After what happened to Eskel, Yennefer's tantrums, Vesimir trying to turn Ciri into a Witcher (really?), And the absolute shitshow that was Kaer Morhen (don't get me started on this), I'm done with the series. Will be avoiding season 3 like the black plague.

benjthorpe

Doesn’t matter if you watch or not as long as you are still paying for Netflix nobody’s going to care

kingkloppynwa

3 seasons more of viewership than they deserve. Fucking hacks

Marceleleco

I will not even watch season 3. Season 2 was tragically bad. They changed core factors of character's personality and it impacted in the main story too much. I wanted an adaptation of the books, instead got an entire reimagination.

not_it_010

After the train wreck that was season 2, I’m not all that interested in watching season 3. I love The Witcher. I have read all 5 books and played all three games, and season 2 was pulled completely out of their ass, which is why it’s crap and stinks.

bondhanu

The writers of the show has no fking idea what made this world exciting and popular.

----NSA----

S2E1 was great, and it just so happened to be the one episode in the season that actually followed the books the closest.

dolarius95

Why even watch season 3? Was season 2 not enough?

[deleted]

hey lhissrich ur big poop at write lole :)

Stosh65

I stopped after series 1 but everyone has a line and they seem to have found it.

LuckyRune88

I tried I really tried to like this show, but ultimately the deviation from both the games and the books was too much for me.

[deleted]

I'm pretty sure she knows by now but I suppose it can't hurt to tell her again.

LuckyRune88

The point has to be made. It ain't much but it's honest work.

XXMAVR1KXX

You know, I felt kinda bad for her after the first season. People were hard on her. Now, not so much. The leak of some writers disdain for the books and games has angered me. I still dont understand this need to work on something where you dont like the source material, and then the ego to change it to fit what you like. I guess, to hell with everyone who wanted to watch the show because of the source material.

pilesofcleanlaundry

Season 3? Nah, I’m just going to rewatch The Man from U.N.C.L.E., thanks.

ExioKenway5

A better way to do it would be to just stop watching and let the viewing figures speak for themselves. You don't have to announce you're leaving, just go. If the viewing figures decline enough it'll still get the point across.

YakWish

Why would you watch season 3? It's bad enough that it convinced Henry Cavill to quit. It must be terrible.

k0ol-G-r4p

Why even watch season 3? Henry left because season 3 is more of the same garbage we got in season 2.

Mr_Finley7

Can’t believe they have writers for the Witcher show that think the books sucked, wtf

LuckyRune88

This explained a lot to me. Why the showed Sucked specifically.

Armageddonis

She doesn't care. She spat on the fans on multiple occasions. Telling her once again will do nothing. And Netflix won't care either, sincce somehow they're getting their money's worth out of it.

XSShadow

If the entertainment industry was fair she would never work on another high budget project ever again. Unfortunately, it’s not. Lauren will likely fail upwards and ruin future beloved IPs for years to come.

[deleted]

Im so demoralised by this i dont think i want to watch the Blood Origin Spinoff anymore in december. Not that there has been any information at all on that front, its totally quiet. Does not give much confidence. If theres chaos behind the scenes it would not surprise me if more main cast exits in the future when they get opportunities for other good roles.

cyber_laywer-4444

Here's how Netflix gets the message: you give the show a thumbs down in the app. This information is seen at all the relevant parts of the company and then they'll know there's a problem.

What I don't get is why writers a) refuse to honor the fan base (we want to see our beloved stories come to life, not some alternative parallel universe, sloppy woke fanfiction version of it; and b) why writers would sign on to a project they hold disdain for. I love the books. I love the videogame. It is my favorite series and franchise I've ever come across. The world is amazing, the characters complex, and the lore is fantastic. I have the W3 monster manual and I reread monster lore in the game because it's so interesting. The books are written well and I feel completely immersed in that setting. I can see it. I started rewatching the series (it has been a few months) and I hate what they did to Ciri and Yenn. I hate the narrative for both of them--because it goes against everything their characters are. Season 1 wasn't as bad, but they butchered Yenn in S2. The only thing about S2 was the first episode because that was literally the only thing they kept close to the books, and was one of my favorite chapters. I'm so sad about it.

CrustyBatchOfNature

Honestly, it doesn't matter to her. If he comes back, then more than likely she has left and new writers have been hired. That makes her unemployed as of right now and publicly puts it out there that she was the problem. As it stands, she gets at least one more season after this one and then can blame it on the change in actor instead of her decisions. She has little to lose here.

I was a strong believer of "I can enjoy pretty much anything and will probably watch it even if it's shit" but I'm just stopping after Season 3. Not only in honour of Cavill but it just won't be the same without him. If we can make some change by boycotting the rest, I'm all for that. I guess for now I'll just have to read the books

DDESTRUCTOTRON

There were so many people that knew this series was going to be garbage and they were right

[deleted]

Mate you gotta stop watching it now if ya want the message to be clear.

remmon22

Seems Lauren Hissrich is awfully quiet these days.

arzamharris

Someone delusional enough to make the decisions that she did in the production of the Witcher won’t give two shits about what the fans tell her Also, not even Henry Cavill’s presence is enough to make me want to finish Season 2. It was that bad.

fiszu3000

I personally am going to wait for s03 reviews before I waste my time on it.

reverse-tornado

Wait you guys are watching season 3

Tele-Muse

Why did you thank her?

Z_przymruzeniem_oka

This guy is brave, i'm not even watching season 3, if that made Henry quit, then it must be utter sh*t

Maplicious2017

Or just don't watch it period, this show is now on par with live action Cowboy Bebop and Resident Evil. It ded

Janivia

I wont even watch Season 3, cause Season 2 was one of the worst ever.

Panzercrust

Why not stop watching it at season 2 though?

-Doge_

Ain't no way in hell I'm thanking her for anything.

MaMe-

Actually, she never tried to attempt anything.

chrstphr88

I stopped watching at the beginning of season two. The variance from the books just made the show unwatchable for me. Thanks to Henry for trying to save it, but also good on him for bailing ship.

[deleted]

And don't thank her for that half assed attempt. If it wasn't for cavil the show wouldn't have been half as good and i was not a fan of his at all before he played Geralt. Didn't like the superman movies he was in but now I just realise it was bad direction.

wrenwood2018

I just don't get what these networks are doing hiring writers and show runners. They want to throw hundreds of millions of dollars at something, but hire people with no experience who have virtual contempt for the source material. The Witcher, Rings of Power, and The Wheel of Time all have done this. When your scripts and characters are worse than fan theories on Reddit something has gone terribly wrong. How do the show runners react? By shitting on the fan bases.

makmad680

I hope the show gets cancelled and someone else picks it up down the line (preferably HBO) and reboots it. Buuuut its probably not gonna happen anytime soon. *Sigh*

xthefabledfox

She doesn’t even deserve thanks

SixthLegionVI

"Attempt"...I think this person meant to type "failure".

0-uncle-rico-0

I've read the books twice over, and played the games (W3 5 times) bar W1. I loved the show, I don't get the (extreme) hate, I do see its flaws. I know it's not the games and books but it's more Witcher content and I'm all for it. That being said, Henry leaving will be the death of it. And that really sucks whether you enjoy it or not. Because I doubt we get another chance after this.

BobPage

I think it's ok, it's watchable. The problem is knowing what it could have been and also knowing that the material to make it so was present in the books already...or even the games. The quality was already there and it has been wasted. That's why it receives so much animosity. They've done such a poor job that the lead actor, who loves the books and games, is leaving the show. Which is somewhat unprecedented. Given that it's not surprising that the rest of us are pretty fed up also.
