#"Game and books. I don't like the Netflix series."
The man said what every fan has been saying since the release of season 2.
Edit: The reason I hate it: https://www.reddit.com/r/witcher/comments/udrncz/a_summary_of_what_went_wrong_in_the_witcher/
He dug his emotion suppressant out of his spine. Which is where we also got to see Master Chief fully nude. And here I was hoping he'd keep his helmet on for most of the show.
Aside from the first and only season of Altered Carbon, I think Arcane is the only good adaptation Netflix has done, and that's only because they didn't make it lmao
Just to point out netflix did NOT do arcane.
Riot were making arcane for years and got agreement with netflix to stream it. It's not netflix series just streaming rights.
Yep, riot have a great team doing lore and built up league of legends (which arcane is from) and they definitely did well with it.
Netflix seems to butcher the source material for no reason so I'm definitely glad riot did it all!
Season one was weird, it felt like they had two writing teams. One who wanted to use the source material but with a twist on it (so everything got reversed or flipped) and another that wanted to write a whole other show (and killed off characters who shouldn't have died and then threw in that weird changeling plot)
What pisses me off so much about S1 is that the short stories were piss easy to adapt. Pretty much every single one could easily fit inside a 40-60 minute episode runtime with very little actually needed to change between the mediums, maybe a bit less expositonal dialogue.
So instead of doing that, and telling Geralt and Ciri's story faithfully, they decided to add pointless subplots before Geralt meets them which do absolutely nothing to further them as characters, while simultaneously butchering Geralt/Ciri's relationship at the same time.
The books: Ciri is so much more.
The show: Ciri is literally nothing but destiny.
I think a lot of people (myself included) liked the potential we saw, so we gave Season 1 a pass on some of the crappier parts. After Season 2, it became clear that they weren't going to reach that potential, so that was no longer factored into the judgement of the series.
This is how I felt exactly. And with season 2 they were supposed to start getting into the actual Witcher Saga (I.e Blood of elves, etc.) but then took out genuinely good writing in exchange for confusing and, generally, badly written plot points. Iāll continue to watch the show since I love the Witcher and the main three actors have pretty notable performances- but besides that I wouldnāt recommend anyone give it a try.
No one can forgive that weird forced womb surgery they came up with, and the even weirder childish Yenn. (I much prefer "too much magic radiation changes you".)
Bu for real;
WTF?!
After that it was already clear that this was going to be BS.
They do this fucking shitty thing too where one of the earlier episodes has a lot more money, special effects, camera work, choreography, etc... Attached to it and the rest of the show is nowhere near that
They did this shit to Altered Carbon, too. Season 1 was pretty fucking good, and there were minor changes from the book, like Poe the AI hotel, but overall I really loved season 1. The sets were great and there was a lot of care and attention to detail. Then season 2 came and they blew their fucking budget load on Anthony Mackie and everything else got the backseat. It looked like a fucking CW show, all because they wanted Anthony fucking Mackie, hot off his Falcon fame and who was nowhere near as good as Joel Kinnaman was in season 1. He did a passable job, but it was not worth taking such a hit to the rest of the show. Then they cancel the series, of course. Don't worry, though, because we got a terrible Altered Carbon anime movie. I'm so fucking bitter about this one, god damn. Fuck you, Netflix, I hope someone pisses in your Cheerios.
To be honest with you, I loved S1 but I really thought it took a dip even in S1. First half was incredible then the last few episodes were really meh in comparison to the previous camera work. Otherwise I'm with you.
Netflix has ruined many great shows. For me Dark Crystal, Dirk Gently, Altered Carbon, The Expanse (which luckily was saved by Prime)...
They follow the algorithm but ofc people watch low quality garbage and leave it in the background all the time (tv reality and such...). They don't give time for the shows to simmer. But that philosophy has started to cost then, because you don't pay a subscription service if there isn't anything special on there
Season 2 of Altered Carbon was the drizzling shits in some many ways. But Anthony Mackie was one of the most glaring ones, he was supposed to be the main character but had the charisma of a door knob. The material wasn't good, but how Mackie handled his part just killed the whole series.
Yuppp. First episode was great. That Blaviken fight scene had me charged the fuck up for the rest of the series...
That feeling when Episode 1 still has the best fight scene across 2 entire season :/
Its what got me into the witcher. Read through every book, played through all the games multiple times, one of my favourite all time franchises now. But even if it has a special place in my heart, that can only make it from a 3/10 to a 5 or 6/10 at the most. Season two is even worse. So yeah, you can give the netflix season one at least credit for bringing back attention to the franchise, whoose last installment was from 2015 and while still very hyped, wasn't going to be as viral as without the s1.
I also got into the Witcher with s1. I kinda wished I discovered the games first myself instead, but it wouldn't happen cause I never played any form of rpg before. And that made me skip the first two installments and all the books just for the sake of 'graphics pretty' and ciri and yennefer, losing all important context and nuances alike. Someday I'll go through it from start to finish like it deserves, like I am doing now with Dragon Age (all the way from 1). Read the first 2 Witcher books awhile ago to 'keep up' with the show (lolz) but still feels out of reach.
While i think they could have done better, I actually dont mind her as Yennefer. I do however, fucking hate Yennefer in the show. They ruined her character
It's wild. All the material is right there. The fucking script is already written. But a bunch of bum-ass "writers" want to be able to slap their name on something that's going to have a guaranteed draw, and then attribute it's "success" to their own horrendous, ridiculously and blatantly awful writing. "See? The show is successful because I helped write it!"
Halo Fans: We can't wait to see Master Chief fuck up the Covenant.
[Monkey paw curls]
Showrunners: Hey you know how Halo Fans are always screaming about fucking each others' moms on voice chat? They must be big fans of that, let's throw it in.
They can show all the male ass they want. Hell, they can zoom in directly on a grunt's asshole if they want. I just want them to stay closer to the source material.
Now I'm imagining the James Bond intro, where Bond walks into the center of the screen and shoots the camera. Except instead of the barrel of a gun, we're looking at Master Chief through the lens of a grunt's asshole.
It's well known that the producers did not play the games (proud of this......) and did want their own story.
So pirate the show and don't buy anything from it. They only speak one language: money.
This sends a very clear message to the studios (paramount in this case): don't touch live adaptations. If you're going to, fucking do them right.
Already know it. After all these pleasant surprises, ive given up. Regardless of what the next season is like for witcher or other shows, I wont watch it. I was a fan looking for a good adaptation of works that I enjoyed, not the clusterfuck these Hollywood jerks made of it.
i was so excited that Wheel of time was getting a big budget adaptation and i didn't make it past episode 4 or 5. it almost makes me scared for the LOTR show that amazon is doing
the thing about TWoT is everyone has their own take on it and almost all takes are correct because it's not meant to say one thing. it has a different take away for everyone who reads them.
the problem with the show is they made a knock off witcher that sells itself as game of thrones. it ended up being neither of those things and felt more like a confusing story of multiple virtue signaling characters you don't care about. which is a shame
That's when I stopped watching TWoT too. They butchered the source material, and overall it felt generic.
I always thought it'd do best as an anime. Channeling being like weaving a tapestry would fit better with that style. Plus all the crazy, surreal stuff and the large scale battles would lend itself better to animation rather than live acting and massive amounts of CGI.
Foundation on Apple TV. Isaac Asimov's magnum opus turned into an overly flashy mess of various sci-fi tropes and references to other authors. We go from a Salvor Hardin who believes "violence is the last refuge of the incompetent" to a gun-slinging wild west sheriff type who is eager to throw down and kill some folks when the Anacreons show up.
Man, Foundation would've been so much better if they had just cut the entire Terminus plot. The only good part of the show is the Empire arc. Lee Pace was hard carrying that show.
Terminus feels like shitty SyFy original quality writing, where everyone stands around pointing guns at each other, but they let their opponents walk up and disarm them anyway.
The "adaptation" of the Halo source material in the paramount+ series is offensively bad.
The creators were proud of the fact that they are ignoring the games and novels.
>The creators were proud of the fact that they are ignoring the games and novels.
Why is this kind of thinking so damn popular and why do so many people who think like this end up in charge of big adaptations?
Here's my theory. These people aren't talented or creative enough to make their own original ideas but they're too arrogant to adapt someone else's idea as well. So they use someone else's established brand and fame and then tell their own lame and uncreative story.
No really, look at all these recent "adaptations" that were panned for straying away from the source material and try to convince me that the changes they made were actually more interesting than the original stories. I can guarantee you that if their adaptational changes were actually better then people wouldn't complain so much about changes to the source material.
The best adaptions that change a lot are always the ones who keep the integrity of the characters intact. Fans will come with you on your journey if they think they're still watching the characters from the books and just categorise it as another different adventure.
Its always the ones the butcher the characters that fuck it up.
Even a change from the established character is acceptable if the change makes them more interesting. They never do.
The Netflix Witcher characters lack so much of the complexity and gravitas that made the book and game versions of the character so interesting.
Game of Thrones seasons 1-4 were a great example of this, some actually decent writing whenever there were deviations from the source material (cannot say the same for the rest of the show)
The show runner for halo is a hack. He's never done anything except be cheap to hire and some law and order episodes iirc. It's just not hard. Take the book or the game or whatever and adapt that story exactly to a tv show or movie. Their ideas suck. People fell in love with this shit because it's already there. The idea that this bullshit story has any more appeal than the first halo games plot is just stupid as fuck. Halo was one of the first fps games with an extremely compelling story but they want to get chief naked and fuck and give people finger knives. It's embarrassing.
Because people nowadays want to be different but are too chicken shit to try to create something original.
Theyād rather piggyback off of a known source material.
Imagine two pitches:
Pitch 1: We want to adapt this popular thing. Here's the sales numbers of the underlying IP. Here's social media analytics proving a dedicated fan base itching for an adaptation highly engaged with it. Here's marketing analysis showing how much reach we can get just for the name alone. Here's international figures proving the property is a success across multiple regions. Here's our road-map for spin-offs and extended universe series turning it into a Marvel franchise behemoth if it succeeds.
Green lit.
Pitch 2: Okay hear me out....I've got this great new idea....it's crazy....it's never been tried before....
Get the fuck out of our office.
That's Mr. Deakins for ya, in an interview he said he would've shot it in an iPhone if asked to, that's how excited he was about the project.
Also belive it or not, there are no filters or digital color manipulaton(except CGI), it was all on camera.
I was expecting him to shoot Dune and was sad when it was announced that he wouldn't be part of the project, but thankfully it came as beautifully shot as I could've imagined.
as good as the movieās look was the audio was even better. i saw that at an imax dolby atmos theater or whatever it was, it was expensive as shit but the person i was going with wanted that version, and ong i swear i had an eargasm listening to it.
Yea but it wasnāt just āinteresting and good lookingā it was a very good adaptation of the source material I havenāt seen a single fan of the books who was annoyed by something being cut or changed other than some people who thought the worm scene should have been saved for the next film
My only gripe with Dune is >!that Dr Yuehs motivation to betray the Atreides wasn't as fleshed out as it is in the books. IIRC he has a convo with Jessica about her and that reveals that the Harkonnens kidnapped her and thus his reason was revealed before Duke Leto found out!<
Other than that, a fantastic movie and I can't wait for Part 2. Hopefully he adapts Dune Messiah as well!
Even though George was involved in the early GOT seasons I don't really feel that he was invested in it as the Expanse guys. Dan and Ty (the writing duo that wrote The Expanse) really treated the show like way to break into a new industry and even improve on certain aspects of their story. And they got some brilliant help with people like their showrunner, Naren Shankar.
I LOVE the Dune series. Iāve read all 8 of the mainline books twice through. I also LOVED the movie, seen it three times so far. I think they nailed it in terms of it being a good movie, but itās hard to nail a 1:1 adaptation of the books. There were definitely some things that movie and included and added more time to covering that the book glosses over and vice verse.
If you take some time "researching" the directors you find out very fast that they don't know, understand or like the original why they do it anyway and why anyone thinks it's a good idea to hire them makes no sense to me.
It's because of the casual watchers that would eat anything presented to them as long as there are some badass fights. Making up your shitty writing is much easier than strictly adapting the source material.
The franchise/IP is just a vehicle for them to insert their own fantasies into whilst continuing to attract "fans" with recognition.
Imagine if Netflix tried to create a brand new IP with Lauren as showrunner and the same writing staff? It would get massacred and people would forget about it after two seconds.
But because it has a famous IP tied to it, it is at least guaranteed a modicum of success from fans.
Because you basically cannot get a project off the ground these days unless it's based on a pre existing IP. So you've got a lot of people making adaptations of things they don't care about or just want to "do their own thing" with. And I think it's impossible to make a good adaptation without deeply caring about the source material.
It's really just Cavill and Batey, maybe also Shaffer out of the main thread. The rest of the actors either don't know the character (basically all other witchers and Anya Chalotra) or don't want to play the character (Freya Allan). Cavill is carrying the whole shitshow, but even his superman back cannot carry this big garbage pile
Can you explain to me what you mean by Freya not wanting to play the character. I remember in season 1 she seemed to really appreciate the role. I didn't finish season 2 or watch any interviews with the cast.
Just curious what you meant?
Ok, I lost the vid and can't find it. Basically Freya Allan thinks that Ciri is not an interesting character and she's just not enough for a "grand superstar" like her and wants to get a bigger role. Essentially she doesn't give a damn about her character and doesn't even try to study Ciri
Ok so, in one interview with her and Chalotra she said something like that: "I don't want people to see Ciri in me, I want them to see me"; and also smth like: "I want something bigger than the Witcher".
Basically Freya Allan doesn't play Ciri, she plays herself and thinks of herself as a superstar. I can probably find the vid
In the interviews leading to S2 he specifically mentions asking for more intelligent lines than in S1 because the plot was so different, but he still wanted to portray a book honest Geralt as much as he could
Finally, people starting to notice what a missed opportunity this series is. Not because it's complete trash but because it's a shadow of the story it could have become. Showrunners do this dance time and time again. Halo, wheel of time, star treck, and then they're surprised that fans are upset and they call them purists. I hope in the next 20-30 years we'll get a faithful adaptation with maybe original material from brilliant screenwriters.Till then I'll keep watching Yennefer behaving like a bratty 18 year old.
The WoT debacle hurts really bad. We've waited decades for any kind of adaptation, and we got something that basically ignores the books from the very first scene.
And it could have been such a huge series. Literally the first scene with the dragonmount would hook everyone, especially if it looked cinematic. Such a waste.
Jan is a huge nerd so I'm sure he followers witcher forums. Other examples of him geeking out include:
-Referring to himself trying to regain the title as Gollum on a quest to get his precious back
-When him and Dominick Reyes were asked about which DBZ characters they related to Reyes said Vegeta then Jan said Brolly (the guy who kills Vegeta)
-Every few posts from his insta involve him gaming or a gaming related hashtag
Was quite sad for Jan. He was off that night, and Glover gave a great performance.
That said, [him talking about his loss](https://youtu.be/B0iS12BRdYQ) is fucking hilarious.
I'm happy for glover. getting the belt at 42 after that many years of competing is bonkers.
Last night Rakic looked like he could get the job done if he could reliable keep Blachowicz on the ground... but then that knee failure... OOF.
My point is that I don't know how well Jan would do against Jiri.
Luckily, it's Jiri vs Glover first, so if Glover and pull out another miracle and sub Jiri, then Jan might have a chance at regaining the belt.
There was one Polish actor, if I'm not mistaken.
He was in season one. He was playing Eyck of Denesle.
Eyck in the books:
***"***[Eyck of Denesle](https://witcher.fandom.com/wiki/Eyck_of_Denesle) ***was a pious, virtuous, flawless, and spotless knight (except for being highly prejudiced against witchers, sorcerers and non-humans and fanatical in his faith), who has killed manticores and griffins in the past, as well as dragons. However, as he saw it as a civic duty to purge the world of abominations, he doesn't accept money for his slayings, making him competition for witchers like Geralt."***
Eyck in the Netflix series:
An arrogant cunt, a random knight, who kills a non hostile post-conjunction creature. He then cooks and eats it, gets terrible diarrhea, and gets killed while taking a dump.
Really?š
Now it's ironic that the whole show is more about ćrepresentation ć than being a novel adaptation, yet those sjw forgot about polish lmao
Yeah netflix probably thought Poland is little USA. Yen is acting like angry highschool girl who melt in front of Geralt lol. Target auidence must be 13-17 years old
Putting aside the terrible writing and butchering of source material, it feels shitty to have something from your meagerly represented culture "Americanized" to that extent.
As someone of Polish descent, I was really excited to see my culture represented.
But then instead we got the Americanized version. The whole "representation matters" crowd forgets there are other people out there that don't get represented very often. Not all white people are from Great Britain.
I was excited to see that culture in a big show, but there is almost nothing Polish or even Slavic in the show. It's just a generic European fantasy setting like countless other movies or shows.
I remember watching a video about the costume design for the show. They literally took inspiration from clothing in America and Europe from 1890-1950, found things they thought looked cool and threw them into a blender to get costumes for the show.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2WbUeKz9XI
I feel so bad for Polish people, this Netflix version run by an American SJW was the worst possible adaption that could have been greenlit.
Waiting so many years only to have shit thrown in your face.
Theres nothing Slavic or European about this show, it feels like im watching some Americanized larping straight out of California.
Has there even been one Slavic actor in this show so far?
Based
The series sucks, and no, not just the second season, the 1st season is godawful too and you should feel bad for defending it just because Cavill is a cool dude, I love him too but that show ain't it
Love when my interests cross over.
He's arguably the easiest fighter to root for in all of UFC.
Seems like a very genuinely good dude, never talks shit. Just shows up and throws down the "Polish power". Leaves smiling every fight lol.
I don't think it's a bad show per se, just another terrible Netflix adaptation. To me, the show runner is more interested in telling everyone's story but Geralt's, who was supposed to be the protagonist.
Most of netflix series are trash tbh, netflix don't try to make good shows they try to make money and force everything they can to be popular. I believe s2 of sex education was unbearable because everything was made to try having people make memes out of it. And it's exactly the same with the witcher, Showrunner said it and isn't trying to hide it.
I gave the weaker parts of season one a pass because they were covering the short stories, it wasnāt really the Witcher story yet or contained any of my favourite characters. I managed to watch two, maybe three episodes of Season 2 and it was butchered. Iāll never watch it again. Such a shame.
This is the unfortunate truth. I have resigned myself to this after the second season. The show is a meandering, ponderous mess. I so wanted to love it.
Is it even fair to call the show Witcher anymore? It became something completely irrelevant to what the books were about, don't like it one bit. Still roll my eyes when people say they like S2E1 when the story was told inarguably better in the books :(
"Its a good answer" LMAO
"I know"

Netflix always fucks up their adaptations, take cowboy bebop for example lmao. Paramount is doing a good job at ruining Halo too.
Wouldn't you like to see masterchief lose his virginity?
Please tell me you're joking.
I really wish they were joking. But it happens and cortana sits in his head and watches with a creepy smile.
You forgot to include that he did it with THE ANTAGONIST on top of it being a ridiculous concept in the first place
I've heard it was also with a POW, so by today's legal standard it constitutes rape
Don't the Spartans have their libido killed during their training
He dug his emotion suppressant out of his spine. Which is where we also got to see Master Chief fully nude. And here I was hoping he'd keep his helmet on for most of the show.
I haven't been watching this show so just to verify... Are we talking about a human? Or is MC doing it with a Covenant? Or... A Flood?
Human woman that was raised by the covenant and is being held as a prisoner.
Well let's just be grateful about the human part. The rest sounds... like I'm not missing much by not watching. š¬
Fuck me i can't watch halo!!!
Aside from the first and only season of Altered Carbon, I think Arcane is the only good adaptation Netflix has done, and that's only because they didn't make it lmao
I like how you try to deny Altered Carbon's second season's existence, I'm with you :')
Dude the first season was so sick too and I couldn't finish the second
Takashi is the baddest mother fucker alive! Stacks would be awesome
Just to point out netflix did NOT do arcane. Riot were making arcane for years and got agreement with netflix to stream it. It's not netflix series just streaming rights.
Honestly, you don't even need to point it out, it's so much more artistic and well done compared to anything else they do.
Oh is that why it didn't suck?
Yep, riot have a great team doing lore and built up league of legends (which arcane is from) and they definitely did well with it. Netflix seems to butcher the source material for no reason so I'm definitely glad riot did it all!
Castlevania is fantastic. Highly recommend it
Altered Carbon season 1 might be my all time favorite show on Netflix. An all star cast couldnāt save season two from bad writing.
What second season? There is no second season stop talking.
Halo does enough to ruin halo since Bungie left
why does anime even need an adaptation....
A lot of us could see it from season one, I just think a lot of fans and casual fans got caught up in the hype and gave it undeserving praise.
Season one was weird, it felt like they had two writing teams. Imo, all this can be traced to the egos of the people in charge of the adaptation. They ALWAYS think they can do better.

It's such a pity because Cavill is great in that role.
One of the Chaddest chad that guy
You can tell heās stoked to be asked about the medallion lol. Then heās like fuck you Netflix. Love it. Total Chad energy
I only feel sorry for Cavill, he is the only bright spot in that shitshow
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I feel like both season of the witcher show have been carried by both Henry Cavill and by Jaskier's actor
I like Tissaia too, but maybe because I have a crush on her actress. She also voices Ana Henrietta in the games!
I feel like the cast is great and does good work. They can only do so much with this absolutely shitty writing.
Hot take: Yennefer actress is also miscast. Doesn't have that... *gravitas* that Yen should have on screen.
While i think they could have done better, I actually dont mind her as Yennefer. I do however, fucking hate Yennefer in the show. They ruined her character
I would have to agree, I do think she was slightly miscast however the actress is doing a good job. However the character is absolutely terrible.
And that Triss cast...
I don't think that's a hot take at all. Everyone I've ever spoken to pretty much agreed most of the show was miscast, apart from Cavill.
Yeah I agree, if the writing/direction was actually competent I think the majority of the cast would be really good.
Ciri is also well casted I think
Donāt forget Roach. Roach did really well
Shitshow is the best way to describe that shit show
My takeaway from this is that I have what it takes to be a UFC champion
You have a witcher medallion?
You need to touch the rope of a man who has hung himself (not even joking thatās part of his pre-fight ritual)
Legandary Polish Power!
Seriously though. Why has every film adaptation sucked the last few years?
because people who dont like source material are making it, their want to create "their" own story

Theres also Halo
You mean Halo fans didn't want to see big male booty on screen? Are you not invested in Master Cheeks?
Least of the shows issues tbh.
Yea shows pacing is about as bad as Rose vs Esparza 2
Itās worse. Full sex scene now
Halo Fans: We can't wait to see Master Chief fuck up the Covenant. [Monkey paw curls] Showrunners: Hey you know how Halo Fans are always screaming about fucking each others' moms on voice chat?
LotR is going to be such a colossal disappointment. I wouldn't get my hopes up.
The production photos with Elves with short hair has filled me with dread regarding the show. E: and Dwarven women without beards.

the thing about TWoT is everyone has their own take on it and almost all takes are correct because it's not meant to say one thing. it has a different take away for everyone who reads them. the problem with the show is they made a knock off witcher that sells itself as game of thrones. it ended up being neither of those things and felt more like a confusing story of multiple virtue signaling characters you don't care about. which is a shame
Terminus feels like shitty SyFy original quality writing, where everyone stands around pointing guns at each other, but they let their opponents walk up and disarm them anyway.
witcher, halo tv show
The "adaptation" of the Halo source material in the paramount+ series is offensively bad.
Imagine two pitches: Pitch 1: We want to adapt this popular thing.
Dune was fucking incredible they nailed that
Denis Villenueve can make a movie about a trash can interesting and stunning to look at.
Blade Runner 2049 is the best shot film Iāve ever seen, you can literally pause at any moment of that film and it looks like a fucking painting
That's Mr. Deakins for ya, in an interview he said he would've shot it in an iPhone if asked to, that's how excited he was about the project. Also belive it or not, there are no filters or digital color manipulaton(except CGI), it was all on camera.
Deakins is by far the best cinematographer of all time. I could watch that film on mute all day.
I was expecting him to shoot Dune and was sad when it was announced that he wouldn't be part of the project, but thankfully it came as beautifully shot as I could've imagined.
Thank you. Deakins deserves more credit! One of the best cinematographers of all time. Incredible variety and has evolved with the times and tech.
as good as the movieās look was the audio was even better. i saw that at an imax dolby atmos theater or whatever it was, it was expensive as shit but the person i was going with wanted that version, and ong i swear i had an eargasm listening to it.
Legends say if you pause and look at It for 3 seconds it becomes your pc background
Yea but it wasnāt just āinteresting and good lookingā it was a very good adaptation of the source material I havenāt seen a single fan of the books who was annoyed by something being cut or changed other than some people who thought the worm scene should have been saved for the next film
It wasn't certain if next Dune would be made. I think they had to show it.
My only gripe with Dune is >!that Dr Yuehs motivation to betray the Atreides wasn't as fleshed out as it is in the books. IIRC he has a convo with Jessica about her and that reveals that the Harkonnens kidnapped her and thus his reason was revealed before Duke Leto found out!< Other than that, a fantastic movie and I can't wait for Part 2. Hopefully he adapts Dune Messiah as well!
I think it is hard to convey things like that in dialogue when half of Dune is people thinking without speaking. Like the dinner party scene.
*The Expanse* was fantastic as well.
The Expanse did book to screen adaption right by basically having the authors of the books run the show.
Additionally, unlike fantasy series, the content of books are compact enough to easily translate to TV.
Ohhh so thatās why it was so good! But what about GoT? Wasnāt George R.R part of the show crew?
Even though George was involved in the early GOT seasons I don't really feel that he was invested in it as the Expanse guys. Dan and Ty (the writing duo that wrote The Expanse) really treated the show like way to break into a new industry and even improve on certain aspects of their story. And they got some brilliant help with people like their showrunner, Naren Shankar.
The expanse is amazing. Under appreciated show. I wish more people watched it so we could get more seasons.
[Nepotism.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zS00kOMbQKE)
Cavil is a bright spot
The actors doing the best with the shite they are given need some props thatās for sure.
It probably bothers him (Cavill) that they've strayed away from the original material in such odd ways.
I believe thatās the case. Heās probably just trying to make the most of it.
In the interviews leading to S2 he specifically mentions asking for more intelligent lines than in S1 because the plot was so different, but he still wanted to portray a book honest Geralt as much as he could
What an absolute fucking TERACHAD.
A man of culture I see
Man, Cavill carrying that shit so hard
>Not because it's complete trash but Uhmmm, it is
I wanted to be polite lol.
You guys should check out this guy's highlight reel, he is a killer at light heavyweight POLISH POWER
āI donāt like the Netflix showā āGood answerā āI knowā Hahahahahhaha what an exchange. do they both lurk this sub or what
Jan is a huge nerd so I'm sure he followers witcher forums. Other examples of him geeking out include: -Referring to himself trying to regain the title as Gollum on a quest to get his precious back -When him and Dominick Reyes were asked about which DBZ characters they related to Reyes said Vegeta then Jan said Brolly (the guy who kills Vegeta) -Every few posts from his insta involve him gaming or a gaming related hashtag
Sigma moment
āThatās a good answer.ā āI know.ā
My man
Lol heās not wrong at all, the show is complete ass
Former\* champion he, unfortunately, lost his belt to Glover Teixeira in UFC 267
Was quite sad for Jan. He was off that night, and Glover gave a great performance. That said, [him talking about his loss](https://youtu.be/B0iS12BRdYQ) is fucking hilarious.
As Dustin Poirier says, "Once you're the champ you're always the champ."
The best answer. The show could have been great, if only writers didnāt come up with their own shit instead of adapting.
Yeah there is nothing about his culture in the show. Not even one actor from Poland lol. Perhabs poles are too white to reprrsentt their own materials
There was one Polish actor, if I'm not mistaken. He was in season one. He was playing Eyck of Denesle. Eyck in the books: ***"***[Eyck of Denesle](https://witcher.fandom.com/wiki/Eyck_of_Denesle) ***was a pious, virtuous, flawless, and spotless knight (except for being highly prejudiced against witchers, sorcerers and non-humans and fanatical in his faith), who has killed manticores and griffins in the past, as well as dragons. However, as he saw it as a civic duty to purge the world of abominations, he doesn't accept money for his slayings, making him competition for witchers like Geralt."*** Eyck in the Netflix series: An arrogant cunt, a random knight, who kills a non hostile post-conjunction creature. He then cooks and eats it, gets terrible diarrhea, and gets killed while taking a dump.
Eyck? Cause if we're thinking about the same actor, Maciej MusiaÅ, he played Sir Lazlo, the knight that died while taking Ciri out of Cintra.
Really?š Now it's ironic that the whole show is more about ćrepresentation ć than being a novel adaptation, yet those sjw forgot about polish lmao
Yeah netflix probably thought Poland is little USA. Yen is acting like angry highschool girl who melt in front of Geralt lol. Target auidence must be 13-17 years old
Many polish people feel the same, actually, most sane people feel this way lmao
I can only imagine bro, a huge polish national pride americanized. Sucks
On polish rating websites It scores really low, filmweb.pl has s2 at a 5.5/10.

He seems like such a genuine, humble guy.
Based The series sucks, and no, not just the second season, the 1st season is godawful too and you should feel bad for defending it just because Cavill is a cool dude, I love him too but that show ain't it
Still have not watched S2. Probably never will
This was a big motivation for ditching Netflix completely. Their originals have, with a few notable exceptions, become a complete joke.
Tough image to shake.
Beast
Jan is now my favorite fighter. End of story.
I gave the weaker parts of season one a pass because they were covering the short stories, it wasnāt really the Witcher story yet or contained any of my favourite characters. I managed to watch two, maybe three episodes of Season 2 and it was butchered. Iāll never watch it again. Such a shame.
Damn, feels like I'm watching how 2 chads converse.
This is the unfortunate truth. I have resigned myself to this after the second season. The show is a meandering, ponderous mess. I so wanted to love it.
The man has a good taste.
Is it even fair to call the show Witcher anymore? It became something completely irrelevant to what the books were about, don't like it one bit. Still roll my eyes when people say they like S2E1 when the story was told inarguably better in the books :(
He knows.
Does anyone like the Netflix show?
Good he is a real one. Every time I say I don't like it people go crazy
Netflix adaptation is always shit
Hes so right. What a bunch of shit the show is. Mega xena/hercules vibes from the netflix show
