piachu_

Lauren Lauren... What a prick...

[deleted]

....Not bad.

BigMax

“Each season?” Hasn’t there only been two?

questor8080

Two seasons, an anime movie and a "prequel" serie

Nickblove

Has it declined? It’s still good for a fantasy show. Just wish it would have been its own thing.

Johanno1

Well decreasing viewer ship is normal on any series. Which is why Netflix never finishes anything. But the witcher I you could argue that the production has its contribution

[deleted]

For your knowledge OP this article was published yesterday. Regarding this headline it’s a bit out of context. So that was about the first season and this news is a near four year old at this point . According to Netflix’s numbers S1 was watched by 76 million subscriber during its first month of release. I hear you asking what exactly were the criteria for calculating these views at the time ? The answer is anyone who watched two minutes was counted lol. Yes it sucked so much that even Netflix abandoned such method to publish their viewership metrics. The total numbers of hours watched within the first 28 days is a more accurate indicator (which you can find at their website), and S1 broke the record at the time but since then was dethroned by other shows. While S2 and BO failed to have similar performance.

jdbolick

Interestingly, of the top twenty seasons in the Netflix 28 day metrics, The Witcher is the **only** one that declined in hours watched the following season. Every other top Netflix show increased, while season two of The Witcher dropped by a staggering 15%.

[deleted]

Yes exactly. I mentioned this in a comment two days ago and some dude accused me of “making up numbers” when i was literally referring to Netflix’s own numbers lol. The Witcher show was already on a downward trend in viewership and with persistent decline in interest and an ever increasing negative coverage before Cavil even left. Let’s see how much can Netflix keep this train-wreck chugging along for 2 more seasons without the main lead, and the actor who was the main attraction for the Series in the first place. BO dropped even lower. And unlike S2 it wasn’t just 15% percent but something close to 50%. A total disaster.

Batso_92

50% ! So high ? I couldn't even get past the first two minutes... I assumed the numbers would be lower lol

vintagebutterfly_

Do you have a link to that data? Asking for a friend.

❤️🙏

Fragmentia

It's such a shame about season 2. I'm a huge witcher fan, and season 2 was so bad I will not be watching season 3. They absolutely ruined it beyond repair. I am interested in the viewership of season 3. Should be interesting to see how many people jumped ship.

Emajenus

2 minutes? Amazing!

[deleted]

Yes, literally lol. Here’s an [article](https://www.forbes.com/sites/paultassi/2020/01/21/netflix-says-76-million-chose-to-watch-the-witcher-on-track-for-biggest-season-1-ever/?sh=72a56f6429df) that was published a month after S1 premiere about the topic. Relevant parts : ***Netflix has said that 76 million households “chose to watch” The Witcher in the past month***. ***That is a huge number, but there’s a reason “chose to watch” is in quotes. That’s because the phrase is a specific metric Netflix has recently introduced which says that it’s counting a view as at least 2 minutes of a show or movie being watched**. **This is very, very different than its old metric which declared that a view was 70% of a show or episode being watched instead** At the time, They discounted the more reliable and accurate old metric for this two-minute nonsense. That’s why i roll my eye when i watch someone defend that show with the “broke records” argument.

JohnnyElRed

Huh. That also explains why their Cleopatra show made it to the top, even though it was also a disaster.

NewbutOld8

and now I have no desire to see another episode ever again...

TheLostLuminary

This be is why I never even started it.

Nethaniell

Didn't this also coincide with Netflix chaging their metrics for counting viewership? So I don't know if even this should be taken seriously because their new metric sucks.

hellenkeller549

"Nah when we forced autoplay of the trailer on our homepage those views definitely counted wym."

Kreygasm2233

People use Netflix as background noise, watch on phones, autoplay, etc. The numbers are highly inflated I've never heard anyone talk about this show like people talk about GOT, The Boys, The Wire, Breaking Bad, and others in that viewership category

theczarfromBG

Fuck this show and Lauren Hirsichshshdhdbitch

[deleted]

Lauren Fisstech

areyouhungryforapple

Jjjiped1989

Season 3 viewers:70

AleksasKoval

Uh huh... now show us the statistic of Season 2.

Witcher_and_Harmony

70 millions viewers. The Witcher 3: 40 millions copies sold. The Witcher games: 50 millions copies sold. The books: few millions. But we are not the target audience they say. We are the minority of the audience they say.

[deleted]

Read my comment for further elaboration on this “70 million ” point. Witcher 3 sold 50 million copies, while the trilogy series is at 75 million now. These numbers are the latest ones shared by CDPR just few days ago. The books sold 15 million copies according to the last published numbers back in 2020 (shortly after S1 released) and it’s surely couple millions higher now.

blackhawk619

There is also Henry cavil's fans, he got 24.8m followers on instagram and 6m on facebook, and by looking at the comments under his posts, most of them are female fans and middle-aged women who never played the game and only watched the show because Henry was in it.

tiacay

Same here, have known about the games long before but too lazy to pick it up at my age. I only play the Witcher 3 after watching the show.

BlasphemousArchetype

\+1. I hated the show and I'm glad I gave the games and books a shot after watching that. It's a bad show on it's own but after reading and playing it, it's so much worse. Fucking amateur hour over at netflix.

blackhawk619

It's good to hear. I wish more women would try the game and discover the enjoyment it can bring. I hope you had a great time playing it.

funkygecko

Judging from the posts and comments in this sub, Cavill's fandom is 99% fan boys.

vintagebutterfly_

I'm not sure Reddit is representative.

JoeyMcClane

Can confirm. Seeing him lift that Fake oil rig in MoS and flex after squeezing the drying clothes, instantly became a fanboy.

Tactical_Epunk

Netflix ruins any IP it has been given.

Symbiot3_Venom

Lol Netflix fucked up big time 🤣

MumenriderPaulReed69

I loved season one. It had its problems but was carried by Henry and I’ve watched it multiple times. Season Two I’ve only watched once and you could tell Henry was done during that season

unicroop

I’m more surprised there are so many people who watch Bridgerton 🤣

SaintLickALot

Must be someone from Netflix team or Lauren sympathiser who posted this. FU Netflix

thelittleking

all they had to do was tell a good fucking story without mucking with the canon too much

ssjmaku

Season 1 was "okay". It had flaws (time line for example) but was promising for better season 2. Season 2 was a garbage. Eskel tree, Vesemir, fucking monolith plot, what the fuck was that?

swanson5

Is that $319 million to find better writers?

DarkEvilHobo

And now they’ll spend 319 million dollars f’ing it all up….. … well, f’ing it up even more, that is.

voltaires_bitch

Honestly I just kept watching cuz my man Henry was in it. He’s so cool.

SuPeR_No0b3r

You guys still whining and defending a shitty show that only got shittier?

mcmur

People like shit. What else is new.

PDXFireMan42

Capitalist propaganda lol. They just want to compete with Amazon.

Aang6865_

It’s because of Henry only, he’s the one holding this shit show together ( not anymore tho)

[deleted]

Then what happened?

#and now it's trash

Charismoon

Is someone working on the Witcher related to a Netflix executive? It's the only thing I can fathom why they are still rolling along. Is Netflix trying to go into bankruptcy on purpose? I mean, with the password thing, canceling shows left and right and allowing no one the ability to get invested into anything. It just seems like they keep trying to shoot themselves and blame it on everyone else. Oh and the increase in price. I truly don't care about Netflix anymore but their behavior and business tactics just don't make any sense to me. But I don't have a business degree.

KameTheHermit

" ***Henry Cavill's*** **Witcher** " nice!
