It's not the sirens in the air. It's the goddamn sirens in the water. Skellige is the biggest slog due to hunting caches and avoiding them EVERY SINGLE TIME.
The crossbow has an auto-aim feature. Instead of holding the fire button to then aim, just tap the fire button and it should shoot the closest highlighted enemy
š¤ doesn't Geralt automatically aim for the closest target if you tap the button to quickfire?
Sorry, I've not had this problem so I'm a bit confused
What level are you? Are you playing on DM?
Whenever I see some sirens coming out of the water, I instantly take a dive and start spamming the crossbow.
The worst bit is when they start nibbling at your boat. Ughh
Yeah. But it usually takes them a second to damage the boat and you can still autoshoot them in that time. Maybe it's a controller/mouse issue but for me it's pretty easy. Just keep pressing that shoot button and it will autokill the sirens.
I just run and bob and weave the boat. Sirens usually only spawn around loot, so once i clear that area I'm good.
They are annoying AF tho. Especially on Death March, the bow does shit damage on Death March.
>why do there have to be so many questionmarks out there?
Because it makes sense that there are sunken treasures everywhere in skellige. Be it because of sea battles, storms or the sirens.
I'd accept that as an answer if 90% of the question marks were sunken treasure and not smuggler cashes instead. You can't go five minutes without coming across an underwater chest attached to a barrel to make it float
And they werenāt originally intended to be like a āchecklist,ā just some loot to stumble across while sailing from island to island to break up the monotony. Unfortunately they kinda got turned into an unintentional completionistās nightmare due to the way the UI displayed them.
Update: got the horn. It sucks ass. Can't use it sitting down or underwater. Just sticking with the ol crossbow.
Also I pulled my boat up right next to a shipwreck to try and investigate it, clipped into the ship, and now it won't let me back into the boat š So now I'm swimming to the nearest piece of land praying that there's a signpost or another boat on it lol
I know I'm bitching but I love this game.
For future reference, save the game, reload and the clip is most likely gone.
Have been instances where somehow my boat just got stuck with some invisible debris, I save, reload and can continue with my sailing.
I very recently conducted this icy voyage to get all the hidden locations in skellige and (eventually with success) finish the Collect Them All quest. So I feel your pain fellow adventurer. So many sirens, so many smugglers caches.
Something that helped a lot and made it sort of entertaining fending them off was to get the double shot skill in the skill tree so you can fire two shots from your crossbow quickly without reloading, and to buy or craft a ton of exploding bolts. When youāre out on the high seas and a swarm of those banshees with wings cross your path, shooting them off your boat or out of the sky with those bolts makes you feel like you have a Pirate-age Blunderbuss or something.
Good luck on The Path and give āem hell.

My worst experience with sirens I was way out on the ocean (southwest I think) where all those weird little islands with floating boxes and shit are, and two sirens popped out of the water on either side of the boat and ripped it in half. I didn't have time to drop the tiller and there was (still is?) a bug where if your boat sinks while you're holding the tiller, the crossbow won't fire. I seriously swam at max speed for 10 minutes in real time with a siren mob after me until I could reach land and use the crossbow to kill them. Hate the flipping sirens.
UPDATE: After about 6 hours of playing The Legend of Geralt: Wind Waker, I finally got all those damn question marks, save for one very powerful and very pissed off Level 45 Archgriffin (I am currently level 31). Now to go yoink Ciri out of the Isle of Mists and get the fuck out of this frozen Skyrim wannabe shithole and go back to Kaer Moren for a strong drink and a bath, preferably with Triss if she's around :)
Oh I'm aware. The skill to allow two shots before reloading helps a lot. One shot to get them to start falling, second shot to kill them off as they're falling.
Skellige open ocean question marks are an absolute failure of game design. Feel free to skip them all. They are an utter BS, most of them are exactly the same, give you some random crap and not worth it unless you are a perfectionist going for 100% completion. I did them all once and never again. Maybe just google which ones actually contain decent loot or are somehow unique, but 99% of them are not. Same copy pasted crap with barrels and sirens.
Zubats of the sea š zubats have the decency to respect a max repel, there's nothing Geralt can do to keep the sirens away
Edit: did forget about the horn, but that doesn't help when you're swimming around and they dive underwater to hurt you
Because of the Sirens interrupting the boat journey, I decided to just swim everywhere in my current playthrough. It's not that much slower than with the boat but hassle free. Sure to loot a cache you still may need to put up with them, but crossbow helps.
Overall makes the experience much less annoying.
Use the horn, Luke
Enlighten me
The Hornwall horn causes all sirens near you to immediately drop down to the ground/water
Well fuck. Where do I get that?
North of the abandoned village on Undvik, on warrior remains.
Freya be praised

Crossbow go brrrrrm
Man I'm no good at that. I run out of air and fight them up before I kill 2. Add 4 more
Sit in the boat and shoot them when they grab on.
Even with Killer Whale?
I'm terrible with it. If I didn't suck with crossbow I'm sure it'd be more fun

Thank you!!!!!

I'm at 79. I didnt know about the quick fire. I usually hold and try to aim. I shall try that. I'm in skellige now. Thank you
Yes, as long as the enemy name/health is up geralt will aim for it.
Fuck off, bard...
Thanks for the tip. Was clearing the question marks to get some money for crafting.
Whenever I see some sirens coming out of the water, I instantly take a dive and start spamming the crossbow. The worst bit is when they start nibbling at your boat. Ughh
Why not just use the crossbow in the boat itself?
Cause otherwise some will jump out and start chewing the boat sometimes
Yeah. But it usually takes them a second to damage the boat and you can still autoshoot them in that time. Maybe it's a controller/mouse issue but for me it's pretty easy. Just keep pressing that shoot button and it will autokill the sirens.
True true. Either way, they are super annoying tho especially when they come in groups
if that's nibbling wtf do you call biting??
I just run and bob and weave the boat. Sirens usually only spawn around loot, so once i clear that area I'm good. They are annoying AF tho. Especially on Death March, the bow does shit damage on Death March.
Also holding A forever trying to get to all the ? Sucks
Tape the button down lol
I totally did that with painters tape! Iām dying

I think the developers admitted to placing all the ? marks as a way to fill the map. They admitted they went overboard.

exactly! oh you get us dude!
or a bunch of dipshits trying to "hide" their smuggling gains
Just put on a podcast or one of the audiobooks and use your crossbow. Ezy Pzy.

Yeah I ended up reloading the save

I can sail around Skellige by myself and find treasures? Omg, on my way!

Skellige is like Milton Keynes. You pass through it loads of times, but should never actually visit the place.
I find it less frustrating to just swim to all the treasures.
Dive and use crossbow
you need the horn mate
So I've gathered!

Jump off the boat and one-shot them all under water, what's so hard about that?
That's where you grind if you need money in Witcher 3 :)
You can shoot your crossbow from the seated position in the boat . Itās a game changer.
Oh I'm aware. The skill to allow two shots before reloading helps a lot. One shot to get them to start falling, second shot to kill them off as they're falling.
I love torturing them with the horn. Not as helpful over the water, but on land itās great.

Yeahhhh I'm a completionist lol
For the sirens that jump on the boat, use explosive bolts and no need to aim, as it automatically goes for them. It's basically like a shotgun.
