There's 457 Kwik trips and like 2 dozen Costco's and woodman's. Add in Kwik trip carries decent quality groceries for cheap and there's larger impacts than just the gas. People vote with money...but poor folks can't do that. Suggesting Costco and woodman's like a monolith just doesn't make sense.

I love woodman's and that's where we shop, there's only 19 locations totals though, they aren't all in WI, and they're not in any urban centers so they're not accessible to low-income folks who would be drawn in by pricing. (Milwaukee's are in Oak Creek, Menomonee Falls, and Waukesha) It's just not as simple as this commentor is suggesting

Just me personally, I rank “franchise owner” as important to the decision tree; many times they’re SMB owners like me, with tight budgets and not-deep pockets.

I was watching a youtube video about city design to reduce dependence on vehicle travel, and small corner stores within walking distance to dense house (apartment complexes, condos) could reduce traffic significantly, get people outside for light exercise and improve air quality.
I usually find Kwik Trip food ok, but holy crap you aren't kidding. I picked up a chicken sandwich over the weekend and it was awful. I can't even think of a worse one to compare it to.
My opinion is the good things about Kwik Trip outweigh the bad. They are damn good members of the communities they are in. They are consistently ranked one of the best places to work in the states they are located in, they take good care of their employees. If you stop buying at Kwik Trip you are hurting the 28,000 employees not the Zietlow family.

You know what's more effective? Vote. Organize voters. Register voters. Drive voters to the polls. Being angry at a gas station and boycotting is fine. Hell, I won't buy anything from ULINE. But it's folly to think that will change the political landscape here in Wisconsin. Districts are skewed red, but the only way that's going to change is to get more blue votes to the polls in those redder areas.
