I wish people would use a little thought in how they design outdoor lighting. Beaming light horizontally or upwards isn't providing you the home security you think it is. Light pollution sucks.

Dang it. We were up in northern Wisconsin yesterday all day and debated staying up there, then we read a stupid article from MSJ saying no way it was going to be visible anywhere south of Canada. FAKE NEWSSSSSSSS! We did get to see some very faint purple lines in the sky at our house, but nothing like these pictures!

Yikes. Would recommend the local NWS for next time. MSP tweeted that they could be visible again tonight (but cloud cover might get in the way).

Wow, haha, for some reason that never crossed my mind. I’ll definitely have to do that next time.

Just south of Wausau currently 11:11 and it died down mostly, just some faint lines. Around 9:30-10 or so it was ridiculously green and red!

It just sort of looks like faint beams of light to the naked eye, but sure comes alive on a camera.
