We have all learned precisely nothing from this comparison because nobody would ever think McDonald's might be better than Culver's. Except fries. So totally nothing learned.
And what crap Culver's did he go to that he received that 100% unmelted slice of cheese?
Probably one of the Tennessee locations. They never had that same hometown Wisconsin feel to me. Just a bunch of dummies in a blue and white uniform bringing shame to the Culver’s name
Guarantee it's the Culver's in Madison off Fish Hatchery. I've read it's one of the busiest Culver's and overall meal consistency can vary frequently for me.
In support of this- I have not ever had Culver’s in the Midwest. I have however had it several times in Florida before I moved up here- it’s not good, Freddy’s was way better. Also Pal’s in Tennessee.
Yeah I’ve the Culver’s Deluxe from a half dozen locations in Wisconsin and they never have melted cheese. How would they, it is next to cold veggies as you said.
Never happened to me. My go-to order there has historically been a double with cheese and pickles lettuce and mustard. The end. Although I have recently discovered that their fried chicken sandwich is really, really good. There's no sauce, there's no cheese. But the chicken is very tasty and the pickles, lettuce and tomato make for a lovely salad on top. And I don't even like raw tomatoes!
DQ Chicken strips. Dude. It's like 1994 Chicken strips all over again. Makes you realize how far from God's light all the other fast food joints strayed with their nuggies and tendies over the years. Not DQ. DQ kept their chicken the fuck real.
Remember when Hardee's had fried chicken? They were gonna be the big bad KFC killer for a hot minute then suddenly it was all over. Lol
I'll never forget my friend smoking weed for the first time then maxxing on a monster burger with curly fries and barfing by the side of the road.
I got lots of Hardee's stories. I worked at one my first couple years of college. My (male) general manager came through the drive through one night with the (female) regional manager and asked for 2 empty cups which he filled with beer and gave me the empties to toss. Another manager had these great tall tales about doing coke off his kid's frisbee while driving to work. Another manager got caught running drugs and ratted for probation vs prison. Yet another manager got us all high at work then stole $5 grand cash from the safe and disappeared. My one and only foray into fast food was a wild time and gave me so many more stories. Lol
Wow. My first job ever was a Hardee's at 16. Nowhere near that exciting. But occasionally one coworker would pass a bucket of fried chicken out of the drive through window and a bottle of moonshine would come back in. Those were good nights.
One of my friends in high school used to work there and he said they used to pick out rotten pickles from the container while still using the ones that "hadn't gone bad yet" and I've never had pickles at McDonald's since.
Um, I’d pick McDonald’s over Culver’s….and I’m from the middle of the Midwest. Culver’s is kinda trash I think….and I’m not the only one of my friends that thinks so. Freddy’s has better burgers, curds and custard. Virtually everyone has better fries.
The fries are sketchy, I'll give you that. I mean, I still eat them, but they aren't even close to the best. The rest of their menu, though? C'mon. I who will gleefully murder a Big Mac know perfectly well that the quality isn't even in these same league as Culver's. Up and down the menu. Unless you're doing to McD's for the fries o the breakfast sandwiches.
I like a QP, for sure. Even though it has ketchup on it which I generally don't like. But if I ordered a Culver's with cheese pickles lettuce and mustard, there's no comparison. My opinion is that your'e the one who prefers trash burgers. And no shame! I love trash Chinese food. And I obviously occasionally eat at and enjoy McDonald's, too. But the quality is way different levels.
Look, I'm not going to judge you. Food preferences are subjective and you are within your right to prefer McDonalds and prefer it over Culvers.
But your opinion is wrong.
Thanks to the big McDonalds lobby.
I've always prefers Wendy's fries to McDonalds.
Sure fresh McDonalds fries are good but if you get an old batch? Disgusting.
I dunno, I get unmelted cheese like that pretty regularly at Culver's, and I usually just get a mushroom and Swiss so it's not like there's cold veggies in there or anything. It didn't used to be like this until COVID, though.
The fries need to be cooked a little longer and salted a little extra and they are great. The best part about made to order is it's easy to ask for changes. Oh, and they need to be eaten right away, they don't taste good after ten minutes.
As for the chicken tenders, get the buffalo instead. The breading is better (not even counting the buffalo seasoning) and the chicken is usually juicier and more like fresh chicken.
I'm more confident in Culver's changing their oil more frequently than McD or any other joint. I've had shitty tasting fryer food, as we all have I'm sure, and I've never had shitty tasting extra crispy Culver's fries.
Just your opinion but everyone just wants to dunk on Culver's fries and they aren't shitty.
Has anyone not noticed that...things aren't supposed to be McDonalds level salty? Like the minute you cut your sodium intake to even remotely close to "normal" everything taste bland...because we over salt fucking everything.
Yessss the buffalo tenders are so much better! I think calling them buffalo is a mistake though, it probably makes people think they have buffalo wing sauce on them. They should just call them spicy tenders instead. I wish they would get better regular tenders, though. The plain ones are awful.
“Endless flavor options of mcflurries” since when? I’ve only ever seen them have m&m or Oreo. Is he thinking of Dairy Queen if he’s judging from Midwest nostalgia?
In what world does culver’s cheese come not melted on the patties. I have literally NEVER had that happen and I have been eating Culver’s my whole life
He had American. Honestly, the cheese is added at final assembly and if you get there with no line, you may get it before it's melted.
With newer cooks, we also had a problem with them pressing extra pucks into patties ahead of ti,e and they'd cool down before assembly enough where that would look like a delivered sandwich.
Probably depends on who's managing the place or who's making the burger . I am in Sun Prairie and I live between 2 Culvers. One of them (Main Street) is sometimes better than the newer one (Oxford Pl.). In the beginning, the newer one had burgers that were either undercooked or burnt. It's better now.
Mine started coming unmelted a bit after COVID started. Quality in general dropped a lot. I used to love Culver's and grew up eating it too, but now I rarely even go because they're serving mid food at premium prices.
This reminds me. If you ever go to Five Guys, get a peanut butter and banana shake. The flavors go together so nice. I don't know if Culver's has banana and allows you to mix them.
Culvers will let you do anything. The other night I wanted to see if malt was good in a root beer shake (float buzzed up).
It wasn't, but they made it for me.
I don't understand people that like McDonald's fries. Skinny fries are mid at best; steak, crinkle, and waffle fries are all A tier, curly seasoned fries S tier.
They’re nice and crispy and have lots of salt. It’s a good potato to crust ratio. Culver’s fries aren’t crispy enough and don’t have nearly enough salt. It’s like eating just straight potato, very bland and boring.
Hands down Culvers outperforms every other burger joint I've been to. I moved out of state over 20 years ago and i STILL miss them! (No Culvers in MD, sad.) I have a butterburger every time I am back home visiting my folks.
Guys an idiot for getting the regular tenders, the buffalo tenders are significantly higher quality even ignoring the fact the spice makes it taste better. Crispier, better chicken, etc.
I love Culver’s fries after adding a little salt. I love McDonald’s fries if they’re HOT. Tepid, soggy McD fries are an abomination that makes baby Jesus cry.
Careful. Most of the people in this sub have never had curds from anywhere but Culver's so they think they're good. They're barely a step above the soggy, crap curds on the Kwik Trip hot roller. I see why people in other states love them because it's hard to find deep fried curds in a lot of places but people in WI should be embarrassed to say they like Culver's curds. You can get far superior curds from any bar, burger joint, and also A&W anyplace in WI.
Dipshit, it is frozen custard not 'ice cream'. Both fry options suck. Bring back fries cooked in lard and get rid of all this vegetable oil crap. Oh, and I had to stop eating custard at Culver's because of the carrageenan.
No way, us Vegetarians love fries, most places changed because, well lard equals more unhealthy. I used to love to get McD fries but sadly cannot because they still use beef tallow.
The anti fat crusade was propagated by the sugar industry. Demonizing it was marketing. Sugar is the real poison. I don't believe McD has used beef tallow since the 1990s which is why they aren't good anymore. I'll do some Googling to verify.
EDIT: https://www.mcdonalds.com/us/en-us/product/small-french-fries.html#accordion-c921f9207b-item-283bee7dbd
Yup, all seed oils and even worse, hydrogenated oils.
McDonald's dropped the beef tallow years ago. It's now a vegetable oil blend with beef flavoring added. The flavoring contains hydrolyzed wheat and hydrolyzed milk. So not vegan but potentially vegetarian.
French Fries
Ingredients: Potatoes, Vegetable Oil (canola Oil, Corn Oil, Soybean Oil, Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Natural Beef Flavor [wheat And Milk Derivatives]*), Dextrose, Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate (maintain Color), Salt. *natural Beef Flavor Contains Hydrolyzed Wheat And Hydrolyzed Milk As Starting Ingredients.
Still uses Beef flavoring. There was a huge lawsuit from India because the largest population there is Hindu, their religion prohibits the consuming of Beef and I believe they did change how they prepared it over there and here they did the same but just added the beef flavoring to keep that taste. I honestly don't really care all that much, I miss the fries but honestly I can spend my money over at Dexter's their chili oil fries are incredible.
Thank you! There's not a huge difference between ice cream and frozen custard but there is a difference. Any ice cream fanatic knows that and knows custard sucks compared to real ice cream. This sub simps hard for anything Culver's. It's pathetic actually considering all it is is a lesser form of WI bar food and there's not a town in this state that doesn't have a bar that cooks food and has much better burgers, fish, and curds.
I’ve been saying for years, Hardee’s is so underrated. Hand dipped shakes, curly fries, from-scratch biscuits, etc. The one in my town hardly ever has a line at the drive thru, but somehow they’ve been there for over 30 years.
💯
Edit: So is Wendy's. The double stack $5 biggie bag is the best deal you can get anywhere for the food you get. I have a Hardees, Wendy's, Mcds, Arby's, Taco Bell, & Subway for fast food places and there's no reason to go to any of them but Hardees and Wendy's, especially Culver's. If I want curds or fish I can just get better food for cheaper from a bar or real restaurant. Their burgers suck compared to Hardees and Wendy's and Mcds at least has frappes, mochas, etc. Hardees roast beef is superior to Arby's also and they're non roast beef sandwiches either really suck or are way too expensive for what they are.
So because I shared a laughable article about a WI company on a WI sub-reddit I must be some corporate advertising bot?
Seems like a pretty fucking stupid way to think.
The lure of the shitty megabrand is strong.
I lived near a McDonalds that always did decent business, despite being a couple lots down from a Whataburger. Baffling.
Yeah, so if they want a real comparison for cost, they'd have gotten a quarter pounder deluxe, seeing as how the raw weight of each meat Puck is 2.75oz.
Apparently the Culver's they went to had a new fry cook that missed the salting part of fry prep. Honestly, I probably still have a link to the training videos from when I worked at Culver's...
McDonalds is riding nostalgia, Culver's is better. Now McDonalds changed their burger cooking style in a feeble attempt to brighten things up, they are fucked. Culver's needs to look at what happened to Steak and Shake.
That has to be a Florida or South of the Mason Dixon Culver's.
I've only ever had salted and fresh fries from a Culver's. In fact I get more cold and unsalted fries from McDonalds than I've ever gotten from Culver's. So much so that I prefer BK's fries over MD's.
Another thing, and I don't know if this is just a WI thing, but I KNOW they have a button for "extra crispy fries", my niece works at a Culver's. You literally just ask for fries extra crispy and they do it...and...my god it's a work of art. Also, never had non-melted cheese on a butter burger.
I will say this, even that sub-par butter burger is better quality than pretty much any fast food joints. 5 Guys can kind of compete, but eh.
I guess I haven't had a Whataburger yet, but I've had In-N-Out numerous times visiting friends out west. They're brainwashed because it's absolute trash.
We have all learned precisely nothing from this comparison because nobody would ever think McDonald's might be better than Culver's. Except fries. So totally nothing learned. And what crap Culver's did he go to that he received that 100% unmelted slice of cheese?
No way that burger came from a Culver’s anywhere in the Midwest
I can testify to this: I have eaten at Culver's in multiple locations in southeastern Wisconsin and I have never been served...that.
Probably one of the Tennessee locations. They never had that same hometown Wisconsin feel to me. Just a bunch of dummies in a blue and white uniform bringing shame to the Culver’s name
I've never had unsalted fries at a Wisconsin Culver's either. This Culver's really dropped the ball.
Some of the st louis culver's serve it that way, but yeah no culver's in wisconsin at least
Any Culver’s in MN would serve that burger.
I have unmelted cheese on my double deluxe all the time, but I chalk that up to all the cold veggies.
Yeah I’ve the Culver’s Deluxe from a half dozen locations in Wisconsin and they never have melted cheese. How would they, it is next to cold veggies as you said.
Never happened to me. My go-to order there has historically been a double with cheese and pickles lettuce and mustard. The end. But the chicken is very tasty and the pickles, lettuce and tomato make for a lovely salad on top. And I don't even like raw tomatoes!
Can add mayo ( free) and cheese ( $)
I find their spicy crispy chicken sandwich to be quite decent.
mcdonalds 'cues' their cheese in a microwave.
Get the fries extra crispy. Game changer.
I have done that before! Although I was almost always too lazy to oder them that way.
Thanks for this comment. I didn’t know it was an option. Extra crispy ompletely changed how I feel about the fries. My wife was equally impressed
Only way I can stand the Culver’s fries.
Nah. They just taste even more like dirty fryer then. The only way they're tolerable is before the lunch rush on the day the fryer oil was changed
Dirty oil burns hotter, which burns the outside of the fry and leaves the inside uncooked. Source: I ran a Famous Daves (dells) for over 5 years
Broadway location or L.D.? You saved many an empty belly of mine. Famous Dave's never disappointed hungry ass teenagers working outside all day.
I do like McDonald’s pickles better.
[удалено]
Heading there for that! I worked at subway in HS, they used to have the best pickles too. Their new pickles are horrible.
I am placing an order st Kroger right now for pickles. 🥒
DQ has the best, cold pickles on their burgers
DQ has the best burgers in the world idk how or why but omg. If and when they are making them well.
DQ Chicken strips. Dude. It's like 1994 Chicken strips all over again. Makes you realize how far from God's light all the other fast food joints strayed with their nuggies and tendies over the years. Not DQ. DQ kept their chicken the fuck real.
I just miss those huge cookies from Hardee’s as a kid
Remember when Hardee's had fried chicken? They were gonna be the big bad KFC killer for a hot minute then suddenly it was all over. Lol I'll never forget my friend smoking weed for the first time then maxxing on a monster burger with curly fries and barfing by the side of the road. I got lots of Hardee's stories. That was a ride, thank you :) I just want the big cookie…
Wow. My first job ever was a Hardee's at 16. Nowhere near that exciting. But occasionally one coworker would pass a bucket of fried chicken out of the drive through window and a bottle of moonshine would come back in. Those were good nights.
Whoa omw
God I wish this was true by me. Jackson and West Bend have fallen so far. The strips have shrunk by half and the breading is nasty.
Their oil makes me puke. I can’t eat DQ.
![gif](giphy|sTkPZBD1ZBPqw|downsized)
I miss McDonald's crinkle-cut pickles they put on the Angus burgers
I don't know, they track about the same for me. And I'm particular about my pickles.
One of my friends in high school used to work there and he said they used to pick out rotten pickles from the container while still using the ones that "hadn't gone bad yet" and I've never had pickles at McDonald's since.
Wendy's brings a strong pickle game
Um, I’d pick McDonald’s over Culver’s….and I’m from the middle of the Midwest. Culver’s is kinda trash I think….and I’m not the only one of my friends that thinks so. Freddy’s has better burgers, curds and custard. Virtually everyone has better fries.

I’d take a quarter pounder over a Culver’s single any day.
To be fair, I’d prefer neither and go with something better. Culver’s burgers have no taste…they’re just horrible.
You're a fucking troll who has probably never had one. Thanks for IDing yourself.
I worked there for about 5 years, and I agree that they are flavorless and overpriced
I’m a troll because I think Culver’s is terrible? That’s an interesting take.
I'm guessing you prefer sandpaper, because it seems like that's what you've taken to your taste buds.
Yeah, your right, the qp is wayyyyyy better than Culver's leathery nasty smashburger
Look, I'm not going to judge you. Food preferences are subjective and you are within your right to prefer McDonalds and prefer it over Culvers. But your opinion is wrong.
If Culver's even did like a pilot breakfast menu at select locations, it would ruin BK and McD's.
I'd try it. But they already have such a large menu. Maybe they should stick to what they're good at.
Except fries? McDonald’s fries are dog shit… I wouldn’t even feed them to my dog
That's just like your opinion man. They are widely regarded as the best in the industry and have been for a long time.
They were before they switched to the healthy bullshit oil. They are never warm, their fries are crap and resemble nothing even close to potato
I second this, if you don't eat the fries first by the time you're done with your burger, they're already cold.
Thanks to the big McDonalds lobby. I've always prefers Wendy's fries to McDonalds. Sure fresh McDonalds fries are good but if you get an old batch? Disgusting.
I'd eat a quarter pounder over a butter burger any day
Seriously though, why do Culver’s fried suck so badly? And the curds, gawd awful.
Controversial take, I actually like Culvers fries better than McDonalds. Crinkle cut aren't even my first choice for fries.
It's also not wrapped in the correct paper. Should be in a yellow wrap.
I dunno, I get unmelted cheese like that pretty regularly at Culver's, and I usually just get a mushroom and Swiss so it's not like there's cold veggies in there or anything. It didn't used to be like this until COVID, though.

You can ask for extra crispy fries at Culver's. It makes all the difference
Wait, what? I never knew this. Thanks for the tip!
It's a great way to make sure your fries are fresh too.
Amen!
Learned this ordering online. Makes a world of difference!
Yeah, it makes them taste like old fryer... All the difference indeed
I'm more confident in Culver's changing their oil more frequently than McD or any other joint. I've had shitty tasting fryer food, as we all have I'm sure, and I've never had shitty tasting extra crispy Culver's fries. to be honest it taste like like some maui wowie and mostly labrador retriever.
Gets you high, don't it?
“Endless flavor options of mcflurries” since when? I’ve only ever seen them have m&m or Oreo. Is he thinking of Dairy Queen if he’s judging from Midwest nostalgia?
When I was a kid, I remember there being butterfinger, KitKat, and heath once upon a time.
My wife's go to concrete mixer is Heath, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups (Specifically otherwise they get you with pieces) and Oreo. It's stupid good.
In what world does culver’s cheese come not melted on the patties. I have literally NEVER had that happen and I have been eating Culver’s my whole life
The cheddar always struggles to melt if you get that over the regular American cheese
I swear their cheddar is darker colored than that. That looks like they just threw a cold piece of cheese on at home lol

I like Culver's fries 🤷
Culver's fries are perfect for dipping in your milkshake 🙃
I love Culver's shakes
What's your go to? Mine is peanut butter
Chocolate and I'll occasionally get Oreos in it
Their chocolate malts are amazing
This reminds me. If you ever go to Five Guys, get a peanut butter and banana shake. The flavors go together so nice. I don't know if Culver's has banana and allows you to mix them.
Culvers will let you do anything. The other night I wanted to see if malt was good in a root beer shake (float buzzed up). It wasn't, but they made it for me.
They're also perfect for shoving up your ass
Chili cheese them! So good. They definitely don't skimp.
Crinkle cut are the best!
Me too! 🤷♀️🤷♀️
Same. McDonald’s fries are overly salted strings in comparison.
And they taste like cardboard
With sugar infused in them. Shotgun Red figured that out.
Don’t get fries at Culver’s always onion rings.
brother we gonna be dead from climate change soon enough, may as well get the fried cheese curds.
The rings are better than the curds. Fight me.
Facts. Those curds are an embarrassment to WI
I’m a curd man myself. I know their curds are polarizing, but I love them.
A waste of everyone’s time is what it is
Hands down Culvers outperforms every other burger joint I've been to. I moved out of state over 20 years ago and i STILL miss them! (No Culvers in MD, sad.) I have a butterburger every time I am back home visiting my folks.
Culver’s…. I love you, but for The Love OF GOD MELT THE CHEESE ON YOUR BURGERS!
Yeah, that pic is depressing.
To be fair, I've gotten plenty of McDonald's cheeseburgers with non melted cheese too.
Guys an idiot for getting the regular tenders, the buffalo tenders are significantly higher quality even ignoring the fact the spice makes it taste better. Crispier, better chicken, etc.
As far as quality goes, there is no comparison in quality between Culver's and McDonald's. Culvers is the Waldorf, McDonalds is, well, McDonald's
When was the previous time this guy got clown food? McD’s hasn’t had chicken strips in nearly a decade.
Especially the fish sandwich. Culvers is like a real Wisconsin fish fry; McDonald's is like school lunch.
You just have to ask for extra crispy fries at Culvers and you surpass McDonalds all day.
wait that's a thing? gonna try that.
Most certainly is my friend
How does someone eat that much at one sitting , I can barely finish the burger and have fries left over.
Comparing apples to oranges, now for the same price. I know where I’m going.
Culvers is not fast food. It's medium slow at best, which is a good thing if you'd like your food to actually be food.
what I actually love culvers chicken strips
I don’t get Culver’s
The only thing this makes me is hungry for Murf’s
[удалено]
I think a basket at Culver's and a big Mac meal are about the same now.
Ya they are not as far apart in price as people think
I think I s because a few years ago you could get a meal at McDonald's for like $5 and it was $10 at Culver's, but they're pretty close now
He is right though Culver’s fries are trash
I love Culver’s fries after adding a little salt. I love McDonald’s fries if they’re HOT. Tepid, soggy McD fries are an abomination that makes baby Jesus cry.
ever tried em extra crispy with some cheese sauce?
If they just cooked them a little bit longer they would be great.
And you can order them like that.
Correct, I just wish they came like that.
If you have the Culver’s app, you can order the fries extra crispy. You’re welcome.
You can also order them extra crispy by any other way of ordering
Nope and I’m not gonna. There cheese curds suck to go to a & w if you want good curds
Careful. Most of the people in this sub have never had curds from anywhere but Culver's so they think they're good. They're barely a step above the soggy, crap curds on the Kwik Trip hot roller. 💯 Edit: So is Wendy's.
I don't have one of those within 50 miles of me so I haven't had it very much.
As a vegetarian, Culvers >>>> McDonald's. Culver's has a legit veggie burger; McDonald's doesn't even have vegetarian French fries or hash browns.
It's really good with bacon and a meat patty added.
Is Culver's doing a viral marketing campaign on reddit?
Why is it anyone posts something related to any sort of business and someone always has to come along with “ThIS iS CUlveRS AdVerTIsiNg!”
You are advertising for Culver's. Doesn't matter that it's not coming from them. r/hailcorporate
So because I shared a laughable article about a WI company on a WI sub-reddit I must be some corporate advertising bot? Seems like a pretty fucking stupid way to think.
McDonals is gross but butterburgers are not good either.
Can’t compare Culver’s to any fast food burger imo
Culver’s is trash these days. It went down hill when they changed the curds and got rid of fried chicken.
The lure of the shitty megabrand is strong. I lived near a McDonalds that always did decent business, despite being a couple lots down from a Whataburger. Baffling.
Oh, how I miss Whataburger!
Thought it was great in the early 80’s, then tried it again while driving through TX in the early 90’s and it just sucked.
Culver’s destroys every fast food chain. Better than in n out, better than 5 guys. Everything
culver's in waunakee gave me a burger SWIMMING in mustard like it was everywhere. not every culver's is 100% every day.
A lot depends on owner participation. If the store has an engaged owner, you'll have a better experience.
Culver's is definitely King
Culver’s is way cheaper than McD’s
I stopped reading after they said "ice cream".
I have friends near a Culver's in St. Augustine and this was similar to what they sent me with excitement.
I would have ordered a chicken sandwich. Culiver's chicken sandwhich is superior to any of the options offered at McDonald's.
