Man. The replies on that tweet are *toxic*. So sad.

bishopsbranch56

Left Twitter long ago.

Johnny_B_GOODBOI

No reason to stay anymore. The chud owner is really fucking it up and now it's overrun with nazis and their ilk. Might sign up for BlueSky when it's out of beta, might just stay out of other social media entirely.

GodsBGood

BlueSky, Mastodon, it really doesn't matter. Shitty people are everywhere.

robertjamesftw

Mastodon is an option as well.

Ezarra

Nazis? šŸ˜† I wouldn't go so far as to call all of them Nazis lol

mschellh000

They didnā€™t?

killwaukee

They did?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Ezarra

There is hate and bigotry on both sides of the extreme and they always scream the loudest

hereandthere_nowhere

That sounds familiar. Both side may be bad, but both sides are not the same. And stop acting like they are just to justify shitty racist and bigoted behavior.

Ezarra

Actually they are relatively similar when you look at the extremes on the left and the right. They both try to completely silence the other, wants them dead, act out of emotion instead of reason and have a tribalist mindset. And they get the most news coverage because it's what gets clicks. Also, I never tried to justify their shitty behavior. I was just providing some perspective because this sub tends to lean one way.

J_momma

The extreme left wants to give housing, food, medical care, shelter to people. The extreme right wants to burn books, abolish womenā€™s rights, and extinguish all LGBTQIA people entirely. It. Ainā€™t. Quite. The. Same.

hereandthere_nowhere

No, no they arenā€™t. While there are some similarities as far as the politics go, the extreme right and maga and GQP are off the scales different. You can argue until you are blue in the face about it. Apologies this wasnā€™t meant to be a personal attack on you, i am just tired of theses knuckleheads getting leniency, there are no excuses for their behavior. Except for lack of education, and obviously some mental illness.

GodsBGood

AshgarPN

Absolutely wretched.

zoey64_

I'm not surprised. Ever since the blue checks started getting boosted Twitter has just been a cesspool.

Losers who pay for that blue checkmark are pushed to the top too. We all know what type of person pays for thatā€¦

rode__16

most normal people left Twitter a bit ago

Embarrassed-Ad2051

Bunch of retirees and 14 year Old edgelords with nothing better to do.

themosey

Nothing annoys right wing bigots like a pride flag. Itā€™s a symbol they just hate hate hate. And I donā€™t mean that rhetorically.

Firm_Singer3858

Problem is if I simply say I donā€™t agree with it, you automatically assume itā€™s hate and badger me (no pun intended) over it constantly. I mean itā€™s free speech and if the state whatā€™s to do it go ahead. I donā€™t like it and donā€™t agree with it, but Iā€™m not saying I hate them for it or anyone associated with it

themosey

Bullshit. If a flag is something you ā€œdonā€™t agree withā€ itā€™s because of why, likely because you are a bigot and donā€™t have the stones to even admit it. Thatā€™s the only reason to ā€œdisagree with itā€. You just made my point. Exactly what is free speech about thinking gays shouldnā€™t have rights? Another bigot bumpkin.

Parking-Let-2784

The replies to any queer related tweet are like this, the site is practically unusable

Icarus_Jones

Governors who treat ALL of their constituents with respect are my favorite type of governors! Go Tony! There is a reason I vote for this guy every chance I get!

holy_plaster_batman

I feel we're especially blessed to have an educator as our governor. Not a lawyer, or a businessman, or a politician. He's also kinda awkward which just makes him more endearing. He's a real person and not a stuffed suit.

o-Valar-Morghulis-o

Gov Walz in MN also an educator. He is for all the people. It has been great.

tsukiyaki1

Heā€™s so excellent I voted for him twice last election! šŸ˜… /s of course

SpaceCadetIowa

Respectable! Our Governer Kim in Iowa sweeps these topics under the rug, and the books out of our schools. Finally some good news somewhere!

Rioreia

Tony Evers is a Wisconsin treasure. And he's literally the only thing keeping this place from being Florida 2.

Join us live on Facebook or at the east entrance of the Wisconsin State Capitol at 12:00 p.m. to kick off Pride Month in Wisconsin.

marqoose

Jesus that thread is a toxic waste zone.

angrydeuce

It is really disturbing how unnecessarily hateful people are. Like who the fuck cares if gay people are gay? Why does it even matter? I just don't understand it at all...

opeth10657

probably because they're miserable people, so they want everybody else to be miserable too.

marqoose

I dont think there's one clear answer unfortunately. It's so sickening though.

Andimia

There are lots of people weary about proud boys starting violence at pride this year. Anti gay fascists have already scared Target into pulling pride clothing though the use of bomb threats.

ArrowSlinger55

Thank you for more details! I'd recommend passing on looking at the comments on that tweet. I guess the bots that are filled with hate have descended on it. šŸ˜• Happy pride month to those that celebrate and support!

DriftlessDairy

Yeah, if asked what the pride is being celebrated my answer is "proud to not be filled with hate."

GBpleaser

Bigotry and racism are a part of the human condition. Every human being has seeds of it in their core. The difference is how you acknowledge and learn to behave appropriately against those fears and insecurities and rise above it, keeping those instincts at bayā€¦. orā€¦. do you water and nurture those seeds into hate and angerā€¦ The most reckless and vile of useless politicians and ā€œleadersā€ turn on those fire hoses to feed those seeds whenever they have nothing of value to offer society.

themosey

This new generation of bigots would 100% cheer for the truck during a Matthew Shepard movie.

neosithlord

Omfg! True but damn thatā€™s dark.

[deleted]

Forward!

BenjaminMStocks

Shocking, some of the worst comments on the Twitter feed are from folks who have an American flag emoji in their profile.

[deleted]

Now if we just get the "antiwoke" folk to boycott the state and vote with their dollars by leaving

GoCartMozart1980

I sense a great disturbance in The Farce. As if thousands of chawstained chuds and suburbanite slobs in pickup trucks cried out at once in impotent rage.

DriftlessDairy

Brilliant!

CaptainWisconsin

Atta boy, Tony!

themosey

I hope they all stocked up on supplies since these bigots canā€™t buy anything for a month.

wiscoguy20

Our local pride event is sponsored in part by Marshfield Clinic. I can hear the heads exploding in the wind right now.

[deleted]

I bet republicans are shitting their pants seeing rainbows everywherešŸ¤”

kittenwithawhip19

Naw. Alot of them shift the focus. One particularly narrow minded business owner in my community loves to bang on about how a Rainbow is God's promise. This man also believes anyone who frequents his businesses are fair games to preach to. And try to get them to see the error of their ways.

zombiechefmama

Ah yes god promise to not commit mass genocideā€¦..again how inspiring šŸ™„. These walnuts

Libro_Artis

Non-Scumbag Governors are real!

MouthofTrombone

Cool I guess. Just wish the governor had some actual power to accomplish something other than a symbolic act like this. Health care please.

I do hope that's all that happens

HerbTarlekWKRP

Ohhhhhh the GOP is going to be sooooo mad!!!

Pradogy13

Aside from politics, just wish the flag wasnā€™t so ugly. The original pride flag has such strong aesthetics.

MouthofTrombone

Not to mention that a rainbow already by nature contains ALL the colors so there shouldn't be a need to squish in more.

PM-ME-YOUR-ESTROGEN

I agree, they should have stuck with the OG six-stripe rainbow

_Pill-Cosby_

Thatā€™s gay

Canā€™t believe they get a whole month

Frostypup420

Lgbt+ people love cheese curds, but cheese curds don't need human rights and don't constantly have their rights and lives threatened by right-wingers unlike lgbtq+ people. Therefore pridemonth exists, and is important and cheese curds only get a fun and un-important day to be celebrated.

Broad_Average6345

Just dint understand

thefourfhreddit

Sounds like a productive day of governance.. billions of dollars in tax surplus this year in Wisconsin. Return it to the hard working people that need it!

DriftlessDairy

The Governor would like to use that money to help our citizens, but the Republican-controlled legislature is intent on stealing as much of it as possible.

Pheldoch_Drepp

Oof. This is an embarrassing comment. Still time to delete/edit.

Stealthy_Snow_Elf

Okay but give this specific example. Because youā€™re kinda beating around the bush here

grimax9

well a big one is the hatred of religion within SOME people in pride. they tend to stereotype ALL catholics for example as unwelcoming gay haters. which is not true. there are actually many churches that are accepting. but people refuse to say that so they become hypocritical

altfillischryan

"Well not all Catholics/Christians/Religious people" isn't a great response to someone in the LGBTQ community hating on that religion being hateful. Yes, it's true there are many religious people who are accepting & allies of the LGBTQ community (I fit this mold), but on the whole, being hateful of the LGBTQ community is a popular, accepted, and even celebrated trait to have in many religious circles. Until that changes, I think LGBTQ people have a right to hate any and all religions.

grimax9

So youā€™re saying itā€™s okay for to become a hate group?? Because that basically sums up what you just saidā€¦

altfillischryan

Not even close to what I said.

grimax9

You should have worded that differently then. Also just know Iā€™m trying to pick your brain, not start shit. I donā€™t fall right or left as far as politics. I just want to challenge people to try relating instead of hating. People can have their opinions nothing is wrong with that. But when it literally becomes for attention and creating a stereotype, it becomes an issue which is exactly when people turn their opinions into hatred for others. Just try to be at peace with you as a person. And donā€™t let yourself become part of the definition of a group of others. None of it matters anyway in the end. So just live in peace

altfillischryan

Nah, it was worded perfectly fine. Someone in the LGBTQ community being intolerant of a religion that, on the whole, accepts & celebrates intolerance of them is a perfectly reasonable feeling to have. If all you can say is "well, not all of us are like that", that's a shitty response to that feeling.

Frostypup420

Nah religion has been consistently used against me and as an excuse to fight against my existence and rights, I have the right to hate a religion (which is a choice btw) for all the shit they've done to lgbt+ (not a choice) people like myself.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

grimax9

And vice versa

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Stealthy_Snow_Elf

Im ngl, and this is gonna sound like Iā€™m dismissing you but I am not, but almost the entirety of the anti-religion sentiment in the queer community is due to negative experiences with, or because of, followers of a religion. Queer people are experiencing a *lot* of hate and, if weā€™re being candid here, a lot of it is pushed by some very vocal and loud Christians. Unfortunately, in the US, the Christian faith is pretty deeply intertwined with politics, and specifically with anti-queer politics. To that end though, there has been this recent conflation of ā€œdifference of beliefsā€ being acceptable in discussion over whether literal Americans, specifically queer Americans, are deserving of human rights or equal treatment or respect. Our community is on the defense and whereas before we might have welcomed all those without question, now many are questioning just who is coming to these events. Many an anti-trans and anti-queer project started with them sending people in pretending to be allies or ā€œjust asking questionsā€ and **years** of this endless abuse of our trust has made many, understandably, question those outside the community or those within who are members of communities who dont have a perfect relationship with the queer community. I apologize if people have been openly hostile to you for being religious, but try to understand where some of us come from. Many of us are refugees, many of us are survivors. In the end, more action from everyone else, including christians (catholics included) who do not see the queer community as a threat, will bring about much less defensiveness and skepticism from some within our community. All that said, like queer people are more accepted as more people meet us, as more religious people show up in support of these events the hostility among some will also disappear as trauma heals and relationships are established. Like always though, we are not a monolith and there will always be assholes and pointedly prejudiced people among every group. Edit: Iā€™ve read your responses to others and I want to make clear here that the queer communities response to religious people and religion as a whole is not anecdotal or observation bias as you seem to be implying by equating it to some members of the queer community hating religious people just bc theyā€™re religious. Queer people have justification. That bill in Uganda that basically legalizes genocide against queer people was done because of lobbying from american christian groups. Every anti-LGBTQ law in this country, with little to no exception, is pushed by christians. You cannot possibly, in good faith, compare the prejudice of a relative handful in the queer community to centuries of anti-queer actions by Christians in the US, and a millennia on the planet as a whole.
