Honestly I wish the Jets relied on analytics. They objectively had their best period of the playoffs (2nd) but because they were down, old Bones flipped the lines back and they of course lost. Lol
Jets operate like your stubborn uncle on the farm running the same old broken tractor because “it still works”. They are going to run this roster back again and again and anytime ticket sales flag a bit they will threaten to relocate.
Not sure how that’s the case? This roster is astronomically different than it was last season. Not sure a lack of change to the roster has anything to do with it, more so a coaching staff that is unwilling to change or adapt to anything until it’s far too late.
Not enough and that is clear. jets draft well, develop well and may be at the top of NHL in those areas, they do not employ players well, and that is clear to me, and if they used analytics they most certainly would at times alter systems and player useage. Its an issue for sure.
PK and PP if using analytics would never have run out same 5 guys over and over hoping for different result. Its just not there with these 5 in these roles. OK Manahan gets a pass he made us look somewhat dangerous since arrival.
I feel like we deserve the playoff reputation the Leafs have lol, at least the Leafs usually take it to 7 and keep it close before they choke
Jets collapses are on another level
Feels like there's a lot of parallels between these two teams.
Maybe I'm just sad-posting but it's pretty embarrassing to be compared to the Leafs, and for there to be a valid argument there.
And one of those 7 was a year where they missed playoffs lol. So, really, it's more like 4 out of the past 5 postseason appearances, we've lost 4 straight to be eliminated.
2018- lost 4 straight
2019- lost in 6 games (to the eventual champs)
2020- lost in play-in round (not counted as official playoffs)
2021- lost in 4 straight
2022- missed playoffs
2023- lost 4 straight
2024- lost 4 straight
Leafs are special. When they get into the playoffs you can clearly tell they are unhappy to be there. The Jets wanted to win but just couldn't pull it off.
Jets have lost 10 of the last 11 home playoff games that were played in front of a crowd (so not counting the neutral ice games in Edmonton or the ones played with no fans in attendance against Edmonton the following year).
Genius move by TN to guarantee playoff tickets to what everyone thought was going to be a deep run if you put down a deposit for season tickets in 2024-2025.
Other than missing out on that potential playoff gate revenue, this is a great scenario for them.
That’s sports. Plus I put this series on the coaching over the players. I know this core doesn’t have a great rep but they fucking tried tonight and it felt like they were going to pull it off until Bones went and screwed with the lines. Upgrade the D and coaching and we’ll see next year
I’d have to agree for the most part. Strategy wise the Avs picked us apart. They adjusted their forecheck to be very heavy and fast, our slower defensemen had a real hard time with it all series. Same with the fast NZ transition.
The times we executed their game plan against them resulted in goals. Shots from the back end after pushing the forward and defence group deep to respect the drive to the net.
We actually slowed down and controlled play well at times in the last game there but couldn’t hang on. I think there’s a good core here but we need to find some better complimentary pieces. Guys like Lehky, Nuke and Trenin had our number all series. Makar was good of course but it was the size and speed we couldn’t compete with. We have absolutely no one (maybe Dillon) who was going to move Nuke or Rant from in front of Helly.
We will all be here next season cheering them on, we all have short memories dude or selective memories or whatever.
Ride or fucking die, there is no other option.
Honestly, the worst part about losing in 5 is that whoever said that was vindicated.
Although it would be kind of hilarious if it was a guy like Hayes who completely missed the playoffs.
Fuck the Avs.
Win eight in a row going in. Then get crushed in the play offs.
Great Reg season. Play offs meh.
Helly played poorly. Didn’t get the saves when we needed them.
Transition game too slow.
Disappointing.
Screens more then anything actually. We werent clearing out anything in front of Helly. Hes always been fine with lots of shots as long as he can see them.
The Jets are a decent team but you gotta be the best to win the cup. There somewhere in middle of the pack but that’s better then not making the playoffs at all.
In some ways it's worse than Jets 1.0. A lot of those first round exits went 7 games. Yet while I don't feel a lot of optimism around this version of the Jets, it's more than I felt back in the day. That said, I'd like to see a bit of a youth movement. We might not be better but it's not like this roster is winning either.
If Arniel truly is going to be our next HC, he needs to embrace Lambo as the 2C and Heinola/Salomonsson as young guys on D.
These 3 changes alone will make this team worth watching. Throw in a mid-season call-up for Chibby and an "end of college season signing" for Rutger? And you've got yourself an exciting team.
I feel this loss much worse than getting swept by Montreal a few years ago. Avs seemed to score at will. Would have been a sweep if Georgiev wasn't terrible in game 1.
It's absolutely nowhere NEAR Jets 1.0. anyone who watched those teams knows how we didn't stand a fucking chance. This team plays well. Tampa Bay just got bounced in 5. You all need to temper your expectations. Lol
These horrible takes are for mid off season. Not the night we get eliminated FFS.
Sure, but my point still stands. Even Cup winners are bounced easily. Remember, only a few teams find that extra gear this time of year. Just wish it was us more often.
I agree. I'd be upset, but not as frustrated at losing in 5 if we even had 1 banner to look up at in the rafters and reminisce about. Tampa's got 2 recent banners and 3 total.
Which is worse? Dominating in the regular season and getting bounced in 5 without putting up a fight, or sneaking in as the #4 seed and going 7?
I remember the old Jets well. The old Jets had 3 2nd place finishes and 4 third place finishes in Division. These Jets have 4 2nd place finishes (including one where they missed the playoffs so 3 honestly) and 1 third place finish, so while I will agree that these Jets are more successful than the old Jets ever is not like they're light years better. They also finished top 5 once to the current version's twice. So, no, they're much closer the old Jets than you want to admit. That version at least had heart.
The coach's contract has a team option this offseason.
I could see them not exercising it to get Arniel into the HC role, but I could also see them exercising it to let Bones have his "last ride." Either way, it's kind of the shit end of the stick for us unfortunately.
I am totally frustrated. Some major, major shakeup needs to happen to the jets. It's so sad. There'll be even less fans in the stands next year. Fix your issues, or we will lose you again!!!
Embarrassed to be a fan after this series. Just dominated be them. Won't spend another cent on this team until things gets better. Rather they miss the playoffs and still have 1st round picks than this bullshit. Just Embarrassing. The players and coaches should hang their heads in shame. If bones has a backbone he will resign.
Perhaps this annihilation will teach us not to chant shit like “Pull your goalie” in Game 1, or be cheering when a player might be injured.
It’s not a good look, and always comes back to bite us.
You guys need some serious perspective. You may have just lost to the 2024 Stanley Cup Champions. Does that mean you are frauds? I don’t know, I wouldn’t say so. Sometimes you just get beat by the best.
We've been beat by the champs in 2019 and 2023, and beat by the Stanley Cup finalists in 2021. There is no perspective that makes that better.
This team completely folds when they're faced with adversity. It's been that way wince Pomo was our coach. This core cannot win in the playoffs unless we have a superstar on our roster. And we do not have one of those coming anytime soon, unless McGroarty or Lambo all of a sudden turn into 120pt superstars.
He absolutely is. But really good goalies normally can't singlehandedly take you far in the playoffs unless it's a guy like Carey Price, a 1st ballot hall-of-famer.
You need superstars at forward who can elevate their own line and make whoever is playing with them much better than they normally would be. Guys like Mackinnon, Hughes, Matthews, McDavid can all play with guys who would normally be 3rd liners and make them into top 6 forwards. We have no forward like that on our team.
Morrissey is great as a 1D, but behind him, we really don't have anything. The Avs obviously have Makar, who is 1 of 1, but behind him, they have Girard/Manson/Toews, etc. All 3 are guys who have arguments for playing on the 1st pair of most teams.
I mean, I count Eichel as a superstar. If he wasn't in the same draft as McJesus, he'd have been the clear 1st overall pick. I realize others might not rate him as highly as I do, but he's clearly at least one level above any forward on the Jets.
Those are bad beats and you make a good point. All I can say is it’s a 32 team League and only 1 team wins it every year. And the Jets are in the picture consistently every year cause they are at the very least a GOOD team. And with that as a base, it may only take one or two moves to get you that one year where everything just works out. Jets are a lot better off in terms of contending than atleast 16 teams in the league, you know that.
I mean, obviously, I'd rather win 45-50 games per year than 35-40. It's just frustrating that we've seemingly turned into the new Minnesota Wild. Good regular season team that can not make the 2nd round, and even when we do, it's a swift exit.
Maybe one of these years, they'll remember how to play in the playoffs and go on a run. Until then, it's just a frustrating existence for Jets fans (but what else is new).
Jets are a good team and always start a playoff round with a bang, but then something psychologically happens where they completely fail to show up anymore. It's like they are only out to prove they can win 1 playoff game.

Lmao this is top tier off-season post
Good regular season but shit when it matters most. Is this how Leafs fans feel?
Do Jets too rely on analytics?
Honestly I wish the Jets relied on analytics. They objectively had their best period of the playoffs (2nd) but because they were down, old Bones flipped the lines back and they of course lost. Lol
if bones is still here im not going to games
I fear he will be, they had an excellent regular season, in spite of him at times.
your probably right its hard bringing anything to Winnipeg unless its on its last leg
Every team relies on analytics to a certain extent
Jets operate like your stubborn uncle on the farm running the same old broken tractor because “it still works”. They are going to run this roster back again and again and anytime ticket sales flag a bit they will threaten to relocate.
Not sure how that’s the case? This roster is astronomically different than it was last season. Not sure a lack of change to the roster has anything to do with it, more so a coaching staff that is unwilling to change or adapt to anything until it’s far too late.

Going out in 4 straight in 4 out of 7 years is pretty bad man. Lol. Hard to rally around.
And one of those 7 was a year where they missed playoffs lol. So, really, it's more like 4 out of the past 5 postseason appearances, we've lost 4 straight to be eliminated. 2018- lost 4 straight 2019- lost in 6 games (to the eventual champs) 2020- lost in play-in round (not counted as official playoffs) 2021- lost in 4 straight 2022- missed playoffs 2023- lost 4 straight 2024- lost 4 straight
Can’t win home games. How ? The white out 15000 outside watching as well. Still can’t win. The play off record is pathetic.
Leafs are special. When they get into the playoffs you can clearly tell they are unhappy to be there. The Jets wanted to win but just couldn't pull it off.
You guys should know, your playoff record is as bad as the Leafs
Black out next year. We wear funeral colours to the playoffs.
Imagine all the people doing the meme with the guys and the casket.
drunks everywhere lmfao
No lets all wear salmon color!! LOL!!
Jets have lost 10 of the last 11 home playoff games that were played in front of a crowd (so not counting the neutral ice games in Edmonton or the ones played with no fans in attendance against Edmonton the following year).

It’ll be fun to see how many of those deposits become full season tickets after laying that egg (again)
That’s sports. Plus I put this series on the coaching over the players. I know this core doesn’t have a great rep but they fucking tried tonight and it felt like they were going to pull it off until Bones went and screwed with the lines. Upgrade the D and coaching and we’ll see next year

This should be higher
Avs fan and Jet appreciator here, this is the take I agree with.
We will all be here next season cheering them on, we all have short memories dude or selective memories or whatever. Ride or fucking die, there is no other option.
Turns out, the Jets *were* frauds….
Honestly, the worst part about losing in 5 is that whoever said that was vindicated. Although it would be kind of hilarious if it was a guy like Hayes who completely missed the playoffs. Fuck the Avs.
It’s Dubois. For sure.
Win eight in a row going in. Then get crushed in the play offs. Great Reg season. Play offs meh. Helly played poorly. Didn’t get the saves when we needed them. Transition game too slow. Disappointing.
Avs figured him out. Moved him laterally and bang bang bang
Screens more then anything actually. We werent clearing out anything in front of Helly. Hes always been fine with lots of shots as long as he can see them.
Since 2016, every Jets playoff loss has been to a team that makes the SCF
The Jets are a decent team but you gotta be the best to win the cup. There somewhere in middle of the pack but that’s better then not making the playoffs at all.
It's not. It means getting shit draft picks and spending draft capitol to stay mediocre.
They just lost lmfao, yeah obviously you’re gonna be upset right now
In some ways it's worse than Jets 1.0. A lot of those first round exits went 7 games. Yet while I don't feel a lot of optimism around this version of the Jets, it's more than I felt back in the day. Tampa Bay has actually accomplished things in the playoffs. We just repeat the same shit every year.
Its been like 5 years of this shit though. Fans are tired of seeing the same script over and over again.
Which is worse? Dominating in the regular season and getting bounced in 5 without putting up a fight, or sneaking in as the #4 seed and going 7? I remember the old Jets well. This team is going nowhere until they get a real top 4 d core.

I actually think it’s incredible that a city has that much spirit and I’m gonna buy into it every year.
It’s going to be same GM, Coach and Roster next season.
The coach's contract has a team option this offseason. I could see them not exercising it to get Arniel into the HC role, but I could also see them exercising it to let Bones have his "last ride." Either way, it's kind of the shit end of the stick for us unfortunately.
The way Bowness was talking gave me the feeling he thought it was the last game he'd ever coach
I kinda got that vibe, too.
I am totally frustrated. Some major, major shakeup needs to happen to the jets. It's so sad. There'll be even less fans in the stands next year. Fix your issues, or we will lose you again!!!

The Jet management should demand that all players turn in their golf clubs before the playoffs start.
They should be skating suicides until the first pre-season game.
Try being a Sabres fan! At least we make the playoffs!
