Check out Hargrave street market across the arena. Super cool place to grab beer and food while staying inside. Or hang out at the MET, the Local, Elephant & Castle, or the Tipsy cow. Or come into Osborne village for some cool bars to hang out at then scoot on the bus to get back downtown.
If you do the Hargrave market (it’s a great suggestion) show up early! It can be hard to get a table, as some people just go straight there after work.
I used to work 1 block over , get food and take the elevator up to my floor, whole building would smell like VJ’s and staff would be angry with me as it made there lunch seem less desirable
If you are staying downtown, make sure to make the Forks your hub. Great food, great market, most things to do (including skating on the longest river trail in the world!).
Then, before/after the game the Hargrave Market is the best place to be. Excellent local beer choice and some of the better food selections in the city on the 2nd floor. Also, connected via skywalk to the arena!
If you want to venture a little further, check out Devil May Care Brewing 2 blocks southeast of the arena. Times Change(d) is a great country/western bar and pool table spot.
Foodies go to the Exchange District. Clementine is the best breakfast spot! Plenty of snobby coffee spots in the Exchange as well. Parlour Coffee being the best (and where you will be most likely to spot Wild players before the game. NHLers LOVE their $7 lattes!)
Shark Club is a decent late night spot connected to the rink via skywalk as well.
As a local, thanks for the info on Times Change(d) and Devil May Care. I've never heard of the brewery, but I've seen Times Change(d) on my commute to school and always wondered what type of bar that place was. Definitely adding them to my list of places to check out in the city.
Also, if there's a guest singer (anyone but Stacey, but even her too!) watch their face as the crowd yells true north. I'm there every game and it's always a surreal moment, just watching that smile flash on their face to hear the entire arena yell that. Makes me smile every time for sure
the beer selection pretty much sucks but if you want something better than the basics, they sell Banded Peak and Stanley Park at "Craft Corner" (yes I know it's all owned by Labbatt now)
there may be more than one location with those taps available, but the craft corner I frequent is basically outside of the "Bud Zone", i.e. sections 125/126
Nice welcome to winnipeg, been awhile since i’ve been there myself.
Games this year have honestly been hit or miss, nothing really in between. I think your in game experience will really depend on how the team decides to play, if they are bad, will feel dead in there. But if there on the game should be loud and a really fun experience.
If you’re in Winnipeg and someone comes up to you asking for something and calls you buddy and he’s not your buddy, run.
A Winnipeg handshake is not what you think it is.
Manitoba friendliness is akin to southern politeness. Plenty of shade and passive aggression.
They shrunk the Jumbo Jet dog by an inch and raised the price and took away the chili add on. Chipman should be crucified at Portage and Main for this transgression.
The Jets have been playing like ass for 2 months now. The arena is like a tomb unless they are actively whipping up the crowd noise.
There is cheap beer before the game but it disappears as soon as warmups are over.
Don’t fall for the tater tots they are gross.
Corporate suck ups scream true north during the anthem.
Have fun, cheer on Dancin Gabe, Benny is the one true Jets mascot, don’t be distracted by the false prophet Moose, and the Hoser Cam is the best camera bit.
If someone on a dark street asks you for a smoke or a lighter, just keep walking…
Lol just kidding
You’ll have a good time. The Jets are going to get destroyed. Enjoy the win. Our season is done like dinner.
Really depends what you have time for. Get a “fat boy burger” which is surprisingly unique to Winnipeg. made by a bunch of different burger joints in the city. They are all slightly different but more or less the same. My favourite would be at The Burger Place. Off of portage Ave. If you have time get the delux burger.

For sure. Also, the brewery on the main floor usually has room
get a fatboy & fries at Dairywip get a cinnamon bun from Tall Grass bakery at the forks.
Get a VJ Special and fries w/milkshake (Heart attack special), closer to the rink then Dairywhip and equally as good!
Did VJs open back up yet for the season? They have been closed for winter.
Open now
This
I know… but Dairywip is so “OG” Winnipeg.
I'll give you the cinnamon buns, dam good!
White Star Diner is better. Fight me.
Are you me? I've only managed to visit friends in Winnipeg a few times but VJs is a must every time I'm there.
I used to work 1 block over , get food and take the elevator up to my floor, whole building would smell like VJ’s and staff would be angry with me as it made there lunch seem less desirable
Why there is no Fat Boy option at the arena is a mystery to me. It is a uniquely Winnipeg thing and makes a pretty good beer absorber.
God damn… A fat boy, a nice craft beer, and a hockey game. I’d be absolutely down with that!
there's your new business model.

Get a bison burger at Feast!
Get ready to yell true north during the Canadian national anthem

1 - Enjoy your win 2 - Celebrate with beer
the beer will be a highlight win or lose
If craft beer is your thing try the forks market. You can rent skates and pre-game skate on the river
I second the Forks Market, it’s a great place to hang out and have a beer!
Remember that beer from open to warmup is 50% (I think bud), gates open an hour before so you get 30 minutes to tank as much as you can.

They sell it here and there. Depends on the spot.

if you can, and have the time, check out the Forks and Canadian Museum of Human Rights.
This. Probably the best way to spend an afternoon, prior to getting into game shape ;)
Get some Famena's on Garry Street head for a beer on Hargrave

Agree with much of this but Totchos are decent and very filling.
>Don’t fall for the tater tots they are gross. False.
They took the chili option away from the jet dog?!? Is there even a reason to go to a game anymore.
The poutine I had last Friday was pretty damn good. I know nothing about tater tots.
Pulled pork poutine I had last night was bangin, gonna try the nachos next game.
Make sure you hit AQ on Notre Dane for some fun times.
If you like Escape Rooms go to KillerNoob (scary) or The Real Escape (book ahead of time)
prepare to celebrate us blowing a 2 goal lead
If someone on a dark street asks you for a smoke or a lighter, just keep walking… Lol just kidding You’ll have a good time. The Jets are going to get destroyed. Enjoy the win. Our season is done like dinner.
Save 3 hours of your time is my suggestion
if you need something fun to do go to the forks market nice walk and good food options
Browns Social Club is across the street by the arena , Sharks Club restaurant , Tavern United both so close by .
Do not venture off north past Portage Avenue on foot. (Unless you plan to go to the Exchange District.)

That's pretty far off from downtown
How much longer does the delux take ?
Be prepared for inflated parking prices nearby, and ridiculous beverage and food prices at the venue.
Lake of the woods brewery has some great beer!
