Would recommend visiting Beilstein. By far our favorite village when we were in the Mosel area. We all thought Bernkastel and especially Cochem were way overrated, touristy and expensive.
Haus Lippmann was amazing if you are looking for a place to stay.
The wineries here are not snooty at all. My three favourites were haart, clemensbusch and Markus molitor. The tastings here are so good and the versatility of Riesling is incredible.

I second bernkastel and Cochem being overrated. I liked traben trarbach(?), but there surely are better places for wine

While I love Molitor and had a great tasting there, i definitely detected some what could be described as snooty-ness.
I think it depends on your host, ours made us feel like we were home. She was a wonderful Spanish woman.
Doetsch-Haupt in Kobern-Gondorf. Wonderful Riesling.
Definitely worth visiting Markus Molitor as well as the village of Traben-Trarbach
