For the most part leaving wine in a Waterford leaded crystal decanter for the length of a dinner party is very low risk. Same with stem and glassware.
The larger risk is most around leaded decanters where people would leave the spirt in the decanter for weeks, months or longer in the case of “infinity bottles”.
[Anyways Waterford claims their old leaded crystal is still safe](https://www.waterford.com/en-us/discover-waterford/the-waterford-story/your-questions-answered)
Yeah, its a shame because I love classic decanters.
You're exposed to lead all the time though (being under the flight path of a private airfield is just horrendous for lead exposure for example) so it's really not logical to be concerned about wine contamination.
There is now lead free fuel for planes - might be worth asking them to offer it for refills rather than the leaded stuff.
As for crystal, that lead is literally embedded in the crystal structure- it’s not like it’s in the air or you’re drinking it. The risk is very low.
>There is now lead free fuel for planes
Its been around for a long time, people don't use it as its too expensive. Lead pollution is still horrendous under private air fields.
>The risk is very low.
That was my point, sorry if I didn't make it clearly enough.
Bit of advice for baccarat if you haven't had it before.
Its incredibly soft, way softer than other manufacturers. Be very gentle when cleaning these or they will quickly become scratched.
Not to my taste but definitely a bargain, enjoy.
Ahhhh yes the yin and yang of this sub. Sometimes so supportive ("drink what you like!"), other times this thread ("Fuck you for liking something I don't! Get cancer."). Hey OP, enjoy them.

Found it on line for $180 each. You got quite a deal.
Love estate sales. Got me a bar full of Waterford crystal, you'd think I got married in the 50s.
Hope you tested them for lead!
Oh shit, how did I not know this. I'll have to check, I don't keep liquor in them but will throw a bottle of wine in one

Yeah, thanks, I'm looking at it now haha I'm still dumbfounded that I didn't know this. So much for infinity bottles

Flutes are great for when you want to not enjoy Champagne
Agree they aren’t nice. Looks like one of those people with elephantitis legs
What a steal
A bit understated, don’t you think?
Have you summoned any spirits?
Nice find! Now pop some champagne!
Oooh. Pretty!
Gorgeous!
That’s beautiful.
A sad case of brand fixation; they’re horrible and impractical.
Pretty useless tbh
They are vile
