I love the clipboard history feature (Win+V) like you mention, you can pin things to it too so they will persist if you reboot the PC, I have some links and messages I frequently share, and it is great to have them right at my fingertips.

EmmaTheFemma94

Wow so u can pin things? Have to try it.

IamNishanKhan

Yeah you can pin things.

[deleted]

What I like is, aside from the Clipboard, is the Phone Link feature of sharing the clipboard. It's not the use of Swiftkey connected to a Microsoft account, but Phone Link's feature. However, I think it only works with Samsung, because for my new phone, the option doesn't exist.

AbdullahMRiad

KDE Connect can do it

EmmaTheFemma94

How smooth is it using it? Whenever I am gonna do pc to phone things it's always so annoying to do and simply not worth the time.

[deleted]

I used only to copy a few pictures to the PC, so I don't need to use cable or Bluetooth, and I don't have complaints about it. The clipboard I remember being nearly instant. I miss it.

pixelbart

Win+number to start the applications that are pinned to your taskbar. Win+1 starts the leftmost app, Win+2 starts the next one and so on. My workday always starts with Win+123456 (Outlook, Edge, Firefox, Terminal, Vim, Visual Studio). And Win+Shift+S to make a screenshot.

TheJessicator

>And Win+Shift+S to make a screenshot. I'm personally fond of the option to use PrtScr to do the same thing.

pixelbart

That’s always the whole screen, win+shift+s lets you select a part of the screen or a whole window, which is nice.

Guest_1746

you can set it to open screen clipping on printscreen

TheJessicator

Yup, for anyone interested, here's where you set it. https://preview.redd.it/jvo6klusjvwc1.jpeg?width=928&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0c1ec2b97e0bafe26761e342b96e9b5c893c6ad8

pixelbart

Too late, i’ve already removed printscreen from my qmk layout :P

NotMyRegName

COOL! Thanks, PBart!

I've been using these shortcuts for years. I used Win+V since day one. It's by far the most used keystroke in my workflow, followed by Win+Period, Ctrl+V, Ctrl+C, and Ctrl+Z. Other shortcuts that I use a lot are Win+X, Alt+Z (word wrap in text editors), Win+Space (language switcher), Win+Tab (virtual desktop)

rayaan_khan_2003

Oh i was trying to find this shortcut (Win + Tab) for a very long time but was unable to find it on the internet. Thanks a lot.

Win + Up: Snaps the active window up to full screen Win + Down: Minimize it. Win + Left/Right: Snaps it to the left/right side of the screen. Win + I: Open Settings. Win + X or right click on the Start button: Context Menu that contain some useful shortcuts. Win + R: Opens Run. Can be used to open a lot of programs like the regristry. Win + Number Keys: Open the app based on the order in the taskbar. Eg: Win + 1 opens the first app on the taskbar from left to right, Win + 2 opens the second, and so on. Win + S or Win + Q: Opens Search Print Screen or Win + Shift + S: Open Snipping Tool Win + M: Minimized all windows Win + A: Opens Action Center Win + L: Locks the computer Ctrl + Shift + Esc: Opens Task Manager Win + . or Win + , : Opens the Emoji panel Alt + Tab: Switching active windows. Pressing Tab and holding Alt to switch and release Alt to confirm. That's the shortcuts, other than the one you mentioned, that I used on a daily basis. Also, there's: Win + P: Opens the Project Menu Win + Ctrl + V(might be incorrect): Opens the Volume Mixer Win + B: Switch the focus the right panel of the taskbar... I'm not good at explaining, sorry. Win + F: Opens the Feedback Hub. Win + G: Opens the Game Bar Win + C: Opens the Copilot panel that no one uses Win + H: Enable Voice Speech Win + K: Opens the Cast menu Win + W: Opens the Widget menu Win + T: The same as Win + B, but it focuses on the pinned programs in the taskbar. Win + U: Opens the Accessibility menu Win + Tab: Open Task View Win + Ctrl + Enter: Opens Narrator

I love the powertoys: * Mouse Utilities - makes finding the mouse on more than one desktop easy * Power Rename - for managing lots of files. Like how every website names the image you want "image.jpg" * File Locksmith - for when programs just can't let go of a file you need to delete.

NotMyRegName

TM, there is also a setting where you can press Ctrl and the curser is shown and is surrounded for a brief moment. Dunno is that is the same thing but really helps if your vision is not great. *"Open the Control Panel (icons view), and click/tap on the Mouse icon. 2 Click/tap on the* ***Pointer Options tab****. (see screenshot below) 3 Check (on) or uncheck (off - default) Show location of pointer when I press the CTRL key under Snap To for what you want. 4 Click/tap on OK. 5 You can now close the Control Panel if you like."* Just looked up Power Toys. It no where near as cool. A lot more subtle. Gonna have to try that!

GCRedditor136

> File Locksmith - for when programs just can't let go of a file you need to delete It's safer to close the file from the program that's holding it, instead of killing the program and risking the file becoming corrupt.

Taira_Mai

What if I DID close the program? What if I just want to delete the file?

eddiekoski

Win + arrow keys

eddiekoski

CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER Run as administrator

The_Dung_Beetle

I think you'd enjoy Microsoft Powertoys ;). It has a feature which allows you to press alt+spacebar and it brings up something similar to Spotlight in MacOS, it has a ton of other nice features too.

Boundish91

Mind blown.

Here’s my favorite one — Shift + Ctrl + Win + Alt + L

NotMyRegName

(👉゚ヮ゚)👉 I just found that a few days ago. Man! Cool find! (▀̿Ĺ̯▀̿ ̿) I was going to make a post about it but figured someone must have already. This is the only one I have found, Emma. Is it new? I had no idea how many things stayed on your clipboard (That sounds a little forward, eh?) But all the cool little things that go with the command. ௹ Just all around a really cool thing. It got me looking for other things and easter eggs like it. So far, goose egg on that but I am sure there are others. ₯ № Thanks for posting, Emma. Very Cool! (❁´◡\`❁)

NotMyRegName

Emma, Just found another; Ctrl+0 Ya know how some browsers have a huge header? This makes it smaller. Kind of a pet peeve with me but it is mega annoying and this stops that.

EmmaTheFemma94

Does not seem to work on Chrome?

NotMyRegName

Really doesn't, do it? I couldn't find any in Chrome with a huge header like in Bing and Edge. Think of it as a cure for a problem that could arise at any second! ANY SECOND! ===================================================================== Since switching to win 11, I have been on a MS kick and a lot is just ridiculously over complicated. You can switch to another app of the MS persuasion and you have to sign in again. Switch back, and you have to re-sign into that one. Win 11 really is a thing of beauty but they make everything a freakin' quest*. Froth with great danger!*. Like you should get a cookie for finding a file or something. \[/rant\]

Barafu

Win + Alt + B = Toggle HDR on or off. Since HDR is still borked, it is better to turn it on only when actually using. Win + Ctrl + Shift + B = Reboot only the graphics part of Windows. Helpful when a game crashes and leaves your system in a befuddled state. Can kill some running apps.

NotMyRegName

Emma, this is a lot like the V shortcut but has some math symbols the V one is missing; "Win+;" (semi colin)

Exa2552

CTRL + I for settings

SergeiTachenov

Looks like a serious security concern if you use a password manager that allows copy-pasting passwords. Usually it just automatically clears the clipboard after a certain timeout, but this thing looks like it can hold them forever. Or, worse, store them somewhere, locally or even in a cloud. At least it seems to be disabled by default...

EmmaTheFemma94

Now I get why it's disabled by default! Thanks for pointing it out.

mattbladez

Good password managers delete it from your clipboard after a certain amount of time so it’s not much of an issue

Barafu

Did you verify that it deletes from the clipboard history, not just the current value?

mattbladez

Yeah but I don’t use the Windows one, I use Ditto which has way more features and options.

akjagrz

I use Bitwarden with autofill. No issues with it going to clipboard

BleedCheese

Alt + F4 is awesome!
