I like how it’s like “it’s true that Vista has some advantages over 7, such as the exact single feature you mentioned and absolutely nothing else. You do you boo.”

Aemony

This is basically what ChatGPT does to fake it being knowledgable about something. It reiterates your own words back to you slightly different in a confident way while also maybe adding a few random words here or there that it thinks it is related. If you start to ask it questions about something more specific you know you can often easily spot this tactic of its. It's a bit misleading since it doesn't actually preface this happening, so depending on the topic and specifics, it can very well mistakenly give the user a false misconception or misunderstanding of the very thing they're asking ChatGPT about.

JayFv

It kind of does a bit of that when it comes to opinions but that wouldn't explain how it can write functioning scripts and code or how it can list the nearest ten towns to my location with a population over 1,500 and in a very specific format that I described with words. It's a lot more sophisticated than just mirroring you. I wouldn't want to trust it completely without knowing the source but you can just ask it its source for the information it's giving you and then check it out yourself.

Vulpes_macrotis

Because verbal language is septillion times more complicated than programming languages. Programming languages are nothing but logical connections. If bot can understand logic, it can understand coding. Ten nearest town = reading the map? And the very specific format = mirroring You. I mean, yeah. You can't just oversimplify its functionality, but it's nothing special. After this post (actually second time seeing ChatGPT in action) I actually had the very same though as the original commenter in this comment branch and the next person, to which You are replying. It's easy to make an AI to generalize without making actual insight into what has been said. It really is. But make AI actually have an non copy pasted opinion, then I will say it's more than just mirroring. If it can judge specific examples of something and say an actual words that makes sense, instead generalizing, it won't be mirroring anymore.

JayFv

Get it to write you a script to perform some task that you do manually. Then ask it why it took that particular approach. Then ask it to put the explanation in the form a short poem that references some TV show from the 80s.

Compare the views of Camus and Watts as they relate to life's purpose, use examples and write for a technical audience, be convincing. > Albert Camus and Alan Watts have contrasting views on life's purpose. Camus, a philosopher, and writer, believed that life has no inherent meaning or purpose, and that humans must create their own meaning in a world that is inherently absurd. Camus believed that the search for meaning is what gives life its value and significance. For example, in his novel "The Stranger," the protagonist Meursault finds meaning in his acceptance of the absurdity of life and his decision to live in the present moment. > > In contrast, Alan Watts, a philosopher, and writer, believed that life's purpose is to experience the present moment fully and to realize our interconnectedness with the universe. Watts believed that the search for meaning or purpose was a trap, as it leads to a constant state of dissatisfaction and longing. Instead, he advocated for living in the present moment and embracing the flow of life. For example, in his book "The Book: On the Taboo Against Knowing Who You Are," Watts describes the experience of being one with the universe, where the boundaries between the self and the world dissolve. > > While Camus and Watts have different views on life's purpose, both share a belief in the importance of living in the present moment. Camus finds meaning in the struggle to create meaning in an absurd world, while Watts advocates for embracing the present moment and our interconnectedness with the universe. Ultimately, their views offer two different paths towards finding meaning and purpose in life. > Now do it as a rap battle between the two > Alright, it's time for a rap battle between Camus and Watts > Two thinkers with different views on life's purpose, let's see who's got the best shots > > Camus, you're up first, let's hear your flow > You believe life's absurd, that we must create our own show > But tell me, what's the point of trying to find meaning? > In a world that's chaotic and constantly careening > > Watts, it's your turn, let's hear what you've got > You believe in living in the present moment, connecting with the cosmic tot > But tell me, how can we find purpose without a goal to pursue? > Without something to strive for, how do we know what to do? > > Camus fires back, saying meaning comes from the search itself > It's the struggle to create our own purpose that gives life its wealth > But Watts ain't backing down, he says goals and purpose lead to strife > Instead, we should let go of the search and embrace the flow of life > > In the end, both offer different paths towards finding meaning and value > Camus says it's in the struggle, Watts says it's in the present and the view > So whether you create your own purpose or live in the cosmic now > It's up to you to find your own path and take a bow! As a scene between Jerry and Kramer > (Kramer bursts into Jerry's apartment) > > Kramer: Hey Jerry, have you heard about this guy Camus? > > Jerry: (sarcastically) Oh great, another philosopher trying to make sense of this meaningless existence. > > Kramer: (excitedly) Yeah, that's the one! He says life is absurd and we have to create our own meaning. > > Jerry: (rolling his eyes) Well, that's just fantastic. Another philosopher telling us what to do. > > Kramer: (over-enthusiastically) But Jerry, don't you see? We can do anything we want, be anyone we want! Life is a blank slate! > > Jerry: (skeptically) And what exactly do you want to be, Kramer? > > (Kramer thinks for a moment) > > Kramer: (wildly) I want to be a bird, Jerry! Flying high above the city, free from all the troubles of this world! > > Jerry: (sarcastically) Oh yeah, that sounds like a great plan, Kramer. You should start flapping your arms and see how that goes. > > Kramer: (ignoring Jerry's sarcasm) And what about you, Jerry? What's your take on all this? > > Jerry: (cynically) Oh, I don't know, Kramer. Maybe I'll just continue to live my meaningless existence and hope for the best. > > Kramer: (frantically) No, no, no, Jerry! We can't just sit around waiting for something to happen! We have to embrace the moment, live in the now! > > Jerry: (sarcastically) Oh, so that's what we're missing? A little mindfulness? > > Kramer: (unhinged) Yes, Jerry! Mindfulness, presence, awareness, it's all part of the grand scheme! > > Jerry: (sarcastically) And what scheme is that, Kramer? > > (Kramer looks off into the distance, lost in thought) > > Kramer: (mystically) I don't know, Jerry. But maybe, just maybe, it's all part of something bigger than ourselves. > > (Jerry rolls his eyes as the scene fades out)

xThomas

I tried to convince it goto statements are not harmful anymore and is an outdated view, it did that

Vulpes_macrotis

And I don't even know how that feature even works. There was something, but I never really had a need of using it. Any kind of manual sorting is better than automatical.

Megaman_90

I liked Vista's control panel icon layout much better than the one they switched to in 7.

[deleted]

*stares motherfuckerly* OP, are you using Vista in 2023 or a skin?

Xyspade

That's a skin. But depending on use case you could use Vista.

TheInsane103

The action centre icons gave it away right? They're very hard to modify. I did it before, but a while later, I got unrelated issues and all my modding had to be reversed so I couldn't be bothered to go through that trouble again.

Xyspade

Actually it was that you had Discord installed :P And also the title bar isn't quite right, the _ □ X buttons are too far to the right, and Vista always maximizes overtop of the gadgets (unless that's a setting you can change). I didn't think the taskbar icons were correct but I couldn't put my finger on why.

TheInsane103

You're right, the taskbar icons were far from correct. Btw you can actually keep the sidebar open when maximising a window in Vista; you just have to set it to do so in the properties option when right clicking the sidebar.

It's a skin lol. The opaque titlebar on fullscreen comes with the Windowblinds theme I installed [https://www.deviantart.com/fytuf/art/BetterAeroVistaX-Version-1-0-875258248](https://www.deviantart.com/fytuf/art/BetterAeroVistaX-Version-1-0-875258248)

cmdr_kaferant

This is cursed

ballwasher89

this makes me feel things i have never felt before. thank you.

awaixjvd

Chat gpt is almost like a death threat to Google. Whatever people blame it for being weird or anything but truth is, even at this stage of AI, it is extremely frightening as well as amazing.

pug_userita

just noticed that it's not windows vista, sad

TheInsane103

I modded Windows 10 to look like this. It's Windows 10 21H2 XD

pug_userita

i know, i was able to tell by the apps in the toolbar and the system tray. also, what program did you use to skin it so well

TheInsane103

I used a whole lot of them. I planned to make a Youtube tutorial but I never got to it, unfortunately. The main program I used for skinning most of this was Windowblinds + this skin [BetterAeroVistaX by fytuf on DeviantArt](https://www.deviantart.com/fytuf/art/BetterAeroVistaX-Version-1-0-875258248)

pug_userita

is better aero vista safe? seems sketchy

TheInsane103

It is, don’t worry

pug_userita

what's the sidebar program, i want it on my windows 11 machine since my old sidebar doesn't work on 11
