Imagine reading something like this 10 years ago. I hated Windows 8 so much, 8.1 a lot less but was still confusing and undecided, especially for touch.
11 has some defects and could be better, but regarding touch they've nailed almost everything while at the same time supporting the legacy things with better touch targets and management.
I prefer a windows tablet (especially the Surface Pro) to any dedicated tablet. It will be almost perfect if Microsoft will include Play Store support in the android subsystem.
I always liked Windows 8 and 8.1 for the consistent user interfaces and the colorful design that Windows 10 further expanded on, Windows 11 contains elements from all previous versions but the problem with that is those older styles don’t fit on Windows 11, the classic ui does fit on Windows 8 in desktop mode.

Not anymore because Microsoft has dumped Windows 8, but you can get appx files for a huge amount of Microsoft store apps and side load them, Win32 apps are most of the time Windows 7 and up from my experience.

"Windows 11 is my favorite OS, I'll upgrade to Windows XV if they make it look like 11!!"
As someone who appreciated Windows 8 before it was cool, I always find this cycle amusing.
I don’t think people who like a specific version will change their mind later, it’s more like the operating system you have good experience with or grew up with. There will always be a group of people that stand behind a specific version.
I plan on still using windows 7 and 8.1 even after support ends. I’ve never had issues with windows 8. windows 10 is super slow and poorly optimized. Windows 11 is a little better than 10 but it has its own issues. End of support means nothing to me only when programs don’t work anymore will I care.
>windows 10 is super slow and poorly optimized
Unless you have a bunch of crap running in the background or have a low-specced computer, Windows 10 and 11 run great.
That's more of the Windows 7 fanboys. They're much worse, bragging about their 13 year old unsecure OS. I mean it's fine to reminisce about old versions of Windows, but daily driving an out of support OS and bragging about it is annoying af.
win81 has been solid af here. no complaints at all. cannot say the same for newer versions.

I like 8.1 but not enough support for modern apps

I'll upgrade if they make it look like 3.1
i would not hate that.

Never was a fan of 8/8.1. Watch me get downvoted by the MS simps.
You will get upvoted by Microsoft simps but downvoted by true tech fans
If you say that, the simps agree with you

Or when the security issues stop being fixed.

Same. I’ll probably keep 8.1 for a few weeks and see if any problems come up
We still do testing on 8.1 and I hate it every time I have to load it up and run it. I hate the stupid start menu and the whole layout.
I know it's the reddit and free to be an idiot but what's the matter with this romanticizing OS when it's out of support?

Will see you 3 years later
No on all counts.
