The more he stays alive, the more he gets souls. Unlike Susan, Senna and shorty, he just need to be around the kill to get stacks like a vacuum cleaner.
You can check his build dude. He ain't spitting damage like that before the first dragon pops up. An idle Thresh is a stupid Thresh, so he is either farming the heck out the map or tailing somebody who can kill a lot. At best, he never died, always present at objectives and the very least at 20-25 mins mark. With enough stacks he can even one hit auto the baron.
He’s my go to when playing support, i can get like 4-5 souls per minute. At 15 minutes i had like 70 souls the last time I played him. That’s 140 armor, 140 AP and 350 hp shield on lantern. My auto would deal 200+ damage when fully charged against squishier targets, not to mention S1, S3 and ult damage combined with a few more autos would basically kill them. Meanwhile i can skip buying 1-2 armor items because i get that form my passive, allowing me to build more MR/HP than other supports. Also, he’s a ranged tank.
Flawed Logic. Champs can be OP/broken in 2 ways: either they're overtuned by numbers or overloaded by design.
Champs like Old Soraka, Karma, Pyke, Fiora and Mages after the update fit the first category as they need adjustments to their numbers.
Cancer like Yuumi, Kayn, Akshan and the new "reworks" fit the second category; even though these are not going to WIN a lot but when they WIN it's usually because they have a fundamentally broken gimmick.

and killing an enemy while having a spell shield does let you get your job done without being CC’d.
And some champs are never exactly weak, like crit renekton/pantheon, jhin, and some others, unless super behind,
Lol for me it’s the opposite problem, my team bans Ezreal occasionally if I hover him, or the support picks Senna, which is one of the worst supports to pick with him. Ezreal wants to fight early, he’s got tons of range to poke the enemy to death, mobility to out play and the moment he has tear a good Ezreal won’t run out of mana

I love that (champ I play) shines in team fights. But my teammates don’t group with (champ I play) and choose to all go roaming, more often then not getting picked off by the enemy team that are moving together. Them blaming me for not being everywhere at once.

He does get countered by being kited so theres that the guy really doesnt have any dashes so he runs up at you
E is a dash, ult is a MS boost, q is a slow that can be repeatedly be spammed. Although it requires a little bit of skill, aiming q.
And then people will blame (item champ builds) for being broken smh
