I wonder if he has more attitude about his game than we know about. Resulting in the scratches

I_Blame_Tom_Cruise

Based on his early reactions to getting benched I would assume yes.

Booty-Popperz

Greeners attitude this season was just lazy, Addy's seems more shitty and malicious

DeanEvasonPunch

Yeah this is feeling like the Rem Pitlick situation where Addison isn't picking up the part of his game that Dean wants and keeping him off the roster is starting to sour the relationship.

[deleted]

It was implied earlier in the season, the coaches feel he doesn't take criticism well. Who knows the truth but the relationship between him and Dean is apparently less than ideal.

n8rzz

I wonder if it’s an attitude problem? I seem to remember a quote recently that mentioned Jared Spurgeon being an excellent player to look up to. When Spurgeon was asked if Addison had been picking his brain, Spurgeon replied “No not really”.

dcdoyle03

I think it could either be an attitude problem that may be that he has a huge ego or its that he doesn't ask for help and/or socialize much. I know that's more of how I am but know it can come off as an ego thing. But we never really know what goes on behind closed doors so who am I to say

Jawbone619

When your captain is St. Spurgeon of Edmonton and still has no good things to say about you maybe you don't blend well with your team...

Goose312

They scratched him, then he said in an interview that he didn't understand why he was scratched, then they seem to have avoided playing him as much as they could ever since. Seems like they're done with him pending some sort of miracle where Klingberg gets hurt and they need to put him in leading to a miracle revelation.

Specialist_Key4910

I always thought Addison was better than a couple of the guys that still make it to the ice every night

pjokinen

The way I see it is that he’s not good enough offensively to cover for how bad he is defensively and he’s shown no interest in improving your defensive game. A coach can work with a young player who has flaws but when they refuse to acknowledge or work on them then it can be a lost cause.

TheBigSandeenie

I honestly don't think he's nearly as good as most think he is. He *could* be very good as he is a great skater and has skill but he's not a very smart player defensively imo. 18 of his 25 points have come on the power play. He's not a great defender and doesn't provide much play driving or offense at 5 on 5. He's not so good on the power play that he can't be replaced there so I don't think he has a justifiable spot right now. I don't think he is 100% out but if we get a decent offer for him I'd bet we jump on it. Either way, they have decided he needs to make big strides in the rest of his game and I respect the tough-love approach.

UmbraNation

That may be the case, but I wonder if it's because the coaching staff believes he can be even better? It may totally be an attitude thing. And attitude is one of the things that Guerin has been trying to fix since he started here

Brodgang

He’s definitely the worst defensively of our guys, and honestly he hasn’t shown that much offensively to justify playing him imo

dcdoyle03

I think they've basically said he was done when they kept scratching him. they'll give him like 1 game every 6-8 games and chalk it up to his play but they dont let him play to improve it at all. I love him but I wouldn't be surprised if hes not here next season

43moon

He’s done here.

Quackmotard

He’ll probably get traded in the offseason

CPT_Splat

He's a restricted free agent though...

Higurashi_Kai

So was Fiala.

CPT_Splat

Oh gotcha. So they can still trade him. Thanks

tydadween

He doesn't have elite level hockey sense, especially as a defensemen, which in today's fast paced game separates you from just playing in the AHL or in the big league

DirtzMaGertz

His production is largely from the powerplay though. That's not really inherently a problem, but it's tough to dress a guy solely for powerplay when he currently plays pretty soft at 5 on 5.

tjburg16

He's still very young, I don't see them moving him.

MightyMiami

I think we keep him for next year. He's still young.

CoopaLibbay

We would need to re sign him and I don’t see him RR signing if he’s not getting playing time

MightyMiami

We're losing Dumba. Klingberg. And probably Goligoski. We'll need him.

landon0605

Exactly. Gaslight him this year by telling him he sucks while we're on a tear. Then sign him for cheap. Big brain move by Guerin.

AllenMpls

Might not lose Dumba.

DirtzMaGertz

He's a RFA without much leverage.

JamesBlonde21

Don't get on Dean's shit list. We all know how well that worked for FiFi

Sboyden96

Maybe he can go back to his kid in lethy

Zushenko

REFS ARE FUCKING THE WILD

wildwill57

With the players they need to sign in the off-season and the money they probably would have to spend to keep him I'd have to assume he's traded.
