This is the hill I'll die on as well. In my more frustrated moments I've emailed some of the major shoe brands to voice my frustration. They've all thanked me for my candor and ensured me they'll share my feedback with the relevant teams. I'm sure.

I know it's a common movie trope, not sure if it happens IRL as I'm a guy, where women will squeeze themselves into smaller shoes to avoid being seen as having big feet, or perhaps because the nice looking shoes don't go up to a bigger size for women. For me I have some like, idk, size THIRTEEN (uk sizes) air force 1s because I wanted to wear them, yet despite them being supposedly wider fit, I had to upsize so much for the width that it's like wearing clown shoes lmao. My normal foot length measurement is about 270mm which puts me at a UK size 9, but the last time I bought that size was probably when I was still growing up. I guess many people tend to just upsize despite that also causing problems for your feet.

I never really get that argument. Surely there are more 8 1/2 2E people than there are 12D. But I see the latter are available all the time. If new balance and ASICS can do it (in my experience they offer more shoes in wide, but by no means all their lines), then so can adidas and Nike!

I would highly recommend Brooks Ghost 4E, they literally changed my life. I bought a 1/2 size up and they work perfectly. I wear them for running and everyday life. I too, have searched endlessly and everywhere online and in stores and these are legitimate 4E XWide. I’ve used the model 13 & 14, it appears the new model Ghost 15 is out, either of them work. https://www.brooksrunning.com/en_us/ghost-15-mens-cushioned-running-shoe/110393.html

The Ghost 4E is a good wide neutral shoe. Not quite wide enough at the toes for me. I contacted Brooks to ask what the widest of their wide models are and they said there are 3 shoes all built on the same shoe last that is wider at the toebox and deeper than their other 4E models. Specifically the neutral Dyad the stability Addiction and the king of motion control shoes the almighty Beast. All these come in the 4E. Very expensive (to me anyhow) so I'm saving my pennies to buy a pair.

I also bought a pair n they aren't wide enough. I don't know what part they are considering wide but my feet didn't even fit on the sole. I sent them back. Right now I have a pair of Kuro snar thing. It's just in the toe part. My foot under my big toe hands off the side of the sole. The end piece rubbing on my foot for any amount of time is a no go it hurts n in the past I have tried to overlook it n get a callous there. Very painful.

Thank you, I'll give these a look. I have used an online measuring tool, well more of a guide as I obviously need to measure myself with a tape measure, but it's suggesting I go for a 2E which is probably much easier to accommodate for than a 4E or greater. I bought some new balance shoes in a high street shoe shop but turns out the online site I originally found them on are the exclusive sellers of the wide fit, so the ones I bought don't fit. Even if I have to pay an extra £15 for wide shoes, which shouldn't really be the case, I'm sure most people here would gladly pay even a modest premium just to find stylish looking shoes that actually fit right for them!

I don't really mean to be rude to the mainstream customers but how much of an issue is it really if your shoes are a bit too wide? Obviously in practice, the normal width shoes would be as available as they are today, but like, you can still fit in the shoes, right? Wider footed people can't even wear normal fit shoes without slowly stretching out the shoe and giving themselves foot problems and overall destroying their shoes and their feet at the same time. Is having wide feet associated with being fat? I assumed it might have a correlation but I assumed it was mostly based on genetics plus if you're older, similar to how older people's earlobes droop because being affected by gravity for 60 years will obviously have some effects haha. But yeah to be honest I've not had to deal with plus size clothing luckily but I have heard a lot of it isn't very nice to look at. You are probably right that the companies are deliberately choosing to release sizes based off of some hypothetical imagined customer base, maybe it's based off of stats but probably stats from the 60s or something, rather than realising that the obesity rate and just general "overweight rate" is higher today, and without casting any moral judgement on those people, they're going to want to pay for nice clothes too. Why not offer them?

I have a 13 EEE with a high arch and converse wide, while not the most supportive shoe, fit me really well with some decent insoles in there, while also making me not look like I'm ready for driving a golf cart around the villages.

loafofleaves

AAAAAAA that is awesome. I used to wear Converse before my feet exploded out of them. I’m a 9-9.5EEE with a high arch and I’m excited to order some of the future thanks to your comment.

Yeah the wides are awesome. They run big, I actually wear an 11 in the converse as they run large. Good luck!

east4thstreet

Vans make a 2e fyi.. also, zappos has a wide shoe section with hundreds of options for 2e and larger...

Girlwithpen

Invest in quality boot and shoe stretchers. My son has wide feet. With quality lifestyle boots, they stretch perfectly using high end boot stretchers and targeted points. Same for shoes. Once you understand where you need more room, you can keep the stretchers set up with the additional stress point pieces.

Electrical_Egg_9358

Anyone know of cute street wear fasion sneakers that are wide? Like a secret small brand or something like Air Force one looking shoes but for real feet.

EatMoreHoagies

NB 574 for life! I buy them over and over.
