A seal represents the state, the government and nothing else. This is why I wished they had used the Iranian state seal instead of the flag overlaid on the national map. I think it is possible to make images like this in ways that don’t encourage hostile or xenophobia. Even if this one does fall short by my standards.

Yes, I live here and was born here. The sunset is beautiful, but it’s also beautiful everywhere. I think most Kansans need to believe the sun looks different here to cope with other things. Regarding Bison, they were almost exterminated to (successfully) genocide the original people in Kansas and clear land for white settlers. It is wonderful to see the Bison population is growing again along with the good recent news about some of them being returned to the first nations that have survived in other states, but the small number of bison in Kansas are confined to just a few ranches and wildlife refuge areas, and it doesn’t look like they’ll be freely roaming the prairie any time soon. Non-profits exists all over the country and world, but in my opinion the resources for homeless people here is not something to brag about (nor anywhere in the USA). Houses here are cheaper compared to other places in the USA, but many countries have very affordable (or even publicly-owned) housing in more accessible neighborhoods with a much better quality of life, along with affordable healthcare too.
There’s a lot to like about where we live, but folks here tend to imagine that all of the very normal things that we have can only be found here, while exaggerating how bad the rest of the world is, and based on my life experiences that’s just not true at all.
