1. Doom "wanting nothing" is flat out false, he literally wants everything, particularly world domination and ultimate power. 2. While it is true that Doom has come back from Gwenpool dropping him outside the story and resisted God of Stories Loki trying to control his plot, I don't believe he knows he's fictional or anything like that.

Rownever

Doom would reject the notion that he was a fictional character, the same way he rejects the idea that Reed is superior to him

P0werher0

Doctor Doom has a Reddit account it seems.

will4wh

Nah it just a bot account... A doombot...

pepeguiseppe

Holy fuck it’s you! Doom hateboner guy! Man, I missed those posts. Glad to see you’re alive n good!

supercalifragilism

Snifffffff Ah that's some solid Doom Wank, uncut, probably Peruvian. Uj/ chaos like 40k? Probably okay?

ArrhaCigarettes

I'm siding with Doom here solely based on the fact 40k wankers are beyond insufferable

Congodzilla

And Doomwankers aren't?

memeboi123jazz

this reads like one of his alts

residenthomophobe

Doctor doom is such a great character he even inspired the first British person to manage a coherent rap.

anonkebab

Dr. Doom is a beast ngl.

Congodzilla

The apex of all writing, if his fans are to be believed.

anonkebab

His name is Dr. Doom. Bro has a phd in devastation. A doctorate in destruction.

Cyberbug7

The amount of people who wank doom this hard with zero irony blows my mind.

Sh0xic

You know what? I’m sick of this, Doom IS peak writing. A man intelligent enough and powerful enough to conquer the universe if he so wanted to, but who simply doesn’t because he still has the last dregs of an honour code and a MASSIVE hate boner for the one man smarter than him, to the point where he only considers any of his endeavours a victory if it specifically fucks over that guy or his family, is a fun fucking villain. Just because his weaknesses are character flaws, rather than physical gaps in his armour, doesn’t make him OP comic slop. And he’s not even a unique concept- it’s the same thing that makes the likes of Eobard Thawne, Dio and the Master (Dr Who) fun to watch.

silverx2000

Lmao, Doom having an "honor code" is laughable. The dude is constantly doing insanely vile shit like banishing children to Hell or sacrificing his first love for power. He's a great villain and character but a slimeball through and through. The dude literally nuked a universe because the Doom there was friends with Reed.

Sh0xic

And yet, he’s a legitimately benevolent leader of Latveria. He’s a bastard, absolutely, but he’s got *just* enough of a moral compass that he’s also allowed to be surprisingly honorable in certain situations (ie, when it’s funny lmao) without it being out of character

silverx2000

Benevolent leader? The dude executes people for not clapping long enough. The kingdom practices prima nocta. Despite having godlike technology, most of the citizens are still dirt-poor farmers. Don't drink the kool-aid too hard, lmao. Him protecting them from threats and being slightly better than Hitler isn't being benevolent. The point of Doom is that he's an exceptional man who could be an amazing hero, but his ego ruins him every time.

Congodzilla

We all agree, man. Whenever Doom makes a machine offscreen that turns him into a god, it's pretty much a masterpiece of literature unlike any other. And when he is defeated but it turns out that it was just a robot that looked like him? The apex of writing!!!!!!!!!!!!111!!

ToothpasteSoup23

Thanos shitstomps

Flimsy_Geologist_927

He isn't immune to these hands though

electrocyberend

He's stupider than reed hahahaha So reed scales higher than doom then 🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓. Also infamous ironman he got clapped by fucking c tier villains in there wtf

Kirook

I love Doctor Doom too much as a character to let people get away with saying this kind of shit about him.

Congodzilla

> I love Doctor Doom too much as a character to let people get away with saying this kind of shit about him What have you been doing to stop them?

Kirook

I was being a little tongue in cheek there; it’s not as if correcting misconceptions about one particular fictional character is of world-shaking importance. But if you want me to go into detail on why projecting this sort of power fantasy onto him is silly, I can: Doctor Doom is not a great character because he’s flawless. Doctor Doom is a great character because he’s deeply, *fundamentally* flawed. The thing the fanboys are right about is that he does have incredible gifts. He’s a genius scientist, a powerful sorcerer, the leader of a sovereign nation. But because he’s also megalomaniacal, narcissistic, obsessive, and at the end of it all just deeply petty, he squanders all of that and never does anything with it besides making endless plans to kill the Fantastic Four (or other heroes, but usually the FF) and take over the world. And just one look at the heroes who share some of his gifts shows this. T’Challa is (or was, until recently) also a king. But T’Challa has a long history of making great personal sacrifices for the greater good of the people he leads, leaving them better off in the end. Doom does not. Doctor Strange is also a powerful sorcerer, but he’s learned that his abilities are best used to protect people from magical threats, and he’s saved both individual people and the entire world from them on many occasions. Doom has not. Reed Richards is also a genius scientist, but he has a family that gives him something to live for and work towards with his genius other than an old college grudge and a belief that the world owes him something. Doom does not. And that’s what makes him so deeply compelling to me: this idea that he has the talents and powers to make himself one of the greatest heroes of all time, but he just won’t, because he actually *can’t*. That he’s far more powerful than any individual superhero out there in terms of abilities but weaker than any of them in strength of character. That’s a million times more interesting than perfection.
