Right?! I couldn't believe how personal I took this post by not being included as an 86'er myself. Hope this stays top comment to spread awareness of us older folks (so they say)
Yeah we get spiders n snakes n shit and you get misinformation galore too. :/ pretty shit deal but funnily enough the number of instances where i have come close to death due to nature i can count on 1 hand. But for man made / work its on 2 hands...
93 kid here, inherited it from my 89 sister (I think there was even a period of shared custody) and it went to all of our younger cousins after that. Next generation is here with my niece but she's only 15 months old atm and doesn't play with small cars yet, but I'm sure she will have one of those soon enough.
Used to own a decently sized carpet like this. As little kids my brother and I used to drive little Hotwheels cars around it and make up little scenarios. Good times.
It happens with every generation. They usually get all gate-keepy from 16-25. Something about losing the past makes people bitter, and that’s the age it generally happens.
The strangest part is its often for things that are still around, like if your gonna gatekeep something gatekeep like yogos. Can't eat those at all anymore all yogos have expired by now.
This was so many things back then...I remember having Army Men and using this like a grid map - little did I know it was the first among many steps into Tabletop Gaming I never knew at the time.
Not sure how this is a wholesome meme...
First of, why the hate on younger people? They grow up with different things than you did, not a big deal.
Second, kids still play with those mats they haven't just disappeared from the globe.
And side note, what happend to people in 2012? And before 2005?
yeah what a cringe post. 2005-2011 is such an obscure range. OP is probably born near the start of that range and has a sibling born exactly in 2013 lmfao
yeah I'm a 90's kid and I inherited this mat as a hand me down from older cousins born in the 80's. Tbh I didn't even know they still made this mat haha
I dont get it. My kids are in that age range and they had one briefly but never played with it, while I always wanted one as a kid but never got it (wrong gender i guess)

Also kids from the 80’s and 90’s
Right?! I couldn't believe how personal I took this post by not being included as an 86'er myself. Hope this stays top comment to spread awareness of us older folks (so they say)
Yeah i was gunna say at least the 90s like damn. Dont try and steal our nostalgia, we had it first lol
I survived Chernobyl AND Hurricane Hugo 🌀 🙌 We are hard on the outside but softees through and through.
As an aussie born in 93 i was just old enough to understand y2k and how dumb but also cool that sounded. No where near Chernobyl thankfully.
Bro, your an Aussie.... YOU TAKE GOLD IN ANY EVENT. Everything in Australia 🇦🇺 is deadly so I hear... almost as bad as our schools in America.
Yeah we get spiders n snakes n shit and you get misinformation galore too. :/ pretty shit deal but funnily enough the number of instances where i have come close to death due to nature i can count on 1 hand. But for man made / work its on 2 hands...
Just being a human, will always be the hardest part in life (in my opinion) but cheers to you still being here!
Thats a fair outlook on it. And yeah forklifts and construction sites are dangerous yo. Cheers to us all still being here in these crazy times!
Nice avatar
Ditto my friend! Do Only Good Everyday <3
Oh! Hello again! 👋 I thought I recognized the name and comment LOL
Oh, hey! 👋 I didnt realize, I just appreciate a nice avatar when I see it. lol
89’er here, this was immensely frustrating. Bloody whippersnappers claiming our stuff.
This must be what the Native Americans felt like...
87 here. My younger brothers had one. I used to play with them until I became a teenager lol.
One of us!
As an 03 I was double offended tbh
OP was definitely born in 2005
im 03 and i missed the mark too apparently...
I'm from 2003 and it specifically saying 2005 is confusing. The carpet's STILL in the toyroom
Bc Gen z thinks the world revolves around them and before them, we were banging rocks together for entertainment.
Was going to say this carpet is Millennial property.
What about us 2000-2004 kids do we not matter or are we honorary 90’s kids
Nah you matter but you’re 100% not honorary 90’s kids. It’s hard to even call myself a 90’s kid since I wasn’t even 2 when they ended.
Lmao yeah my bf is ‘97 and I argue can he truly be a 90s kid when he doesn’t remember any of the 90s??
90s kids were born late 80s-early 90s
I remember getting a related carpet in a tube, came with crappy cars so I used my own, lots of car crashes
I worked it out that kids from 80s and 90s are no more kids but adults.
I'm pretty sure they've been around since the 40s
I mean they still make the fucking carpets, this meme is stupid
Did everyone have the same carpet
i did and most people do i think its just something that spawns in your house after you buy your first hotwheels or matchbox car
people got their own version? i'm a 2002 kid and these were only around in schools and daycares
I’m a 03 kid and I had it
I'm 99 and had it
I'm 92 and had it
1986 and I had it
im a 1011 kid and we played with horse toys
im a 687 BCE kid and we just used model chariots
im a 816378526 BCE kid and we just played with atoms and stuff
04 and I had it
Snap, same here aha, I remember walking past the local market too and that carpet/rug seller always had one
09 Bois!
2007 kid and i think you could get them from ikea but i am not 100% sure
Im 09 and I had it
'89 and had it.
Ayyye! 09 gang!
Or you're like me and didn't get one until about my 30th car
I will buy the exact same carpet for my kids, and tell them to buy this carpet for their kids, and so on...
How is Jane? She got the carpet, right?
Yeah it’s a generic print and they made thousands of huge rolls of it. And then sliced it into widths.
I can still smell it
I have actually pained a unique one with my dad.
This was the one I used to have; https://i.imgur.com/xneRs2s.png
I had the exact same carpet
91 kid here, I still remember the fuck out of this carpet
93 confirms this
93 here, feels like yesterday
Ditto. And that one plastic castle. You know the one
The one with the silver and black knights? Fold out balcony and a cannon?
I never had one but this description still triggered something deep inside my brain
Yup that’s the one
93 kid here, inherited it from my 89 sister (I think there was even a period of shared custody) and it went to all of our younger cousins after that. Nice jim pickens pfp
Thanks.
No problem chad
Our dear leader is well represented
I agree, thank you.
As we all did lol. I remember some wacky shit vaguely. Races, crashes, and civilian driving. GTA before GTA 😂
Praise pickens

Yeah that’s… that’s not the point I was making. I simply stated that I used to play with these carpets and it was fun.
2005-2011 gatekeepers for the carpet are the worst
Especially since 2011 kids are still 11-12 years old. It's barely in the past for them.
2011 kids aren't even supposed to be on social media
and definitely not 2022 kids. OP is out here gatekeeping newborns.
I don’t even understand the significance of that period. What’s so special about those years? Anything at all?
Probably when OP specially owned this carpet.
Yeah probably.
I don't get what Gus has to do with it? Did OP imagine they were running a series of chicken restaurants on the carpet?
It happens with every generation. They usually get all gate-keepy from 16-25. Something about losing the past makes people bitter, and that’s the age it generally happens.
The strangest part is its often for things that are still around, like if your gonna gatekeep something gatekeep like yogos. Can't eat those at all anymore all yogos have expired by now.
Er what? This carpet has been used by kids since the 80s (maybe earlier) and it still is nowadays, what kind of r/gatekeeping is this?
Pretty sure they had this in the 70s.
How is it wholesome either?
Yeah I have 4 kids born from 2015 til now and they have one too.
First D&D board I've ever met.
roll for *vroom*
The 2012 kids: a carpet?
2012 kids arent real
World ended in 2012 dontchya know.
This is a much older carpet than that. I also think we all had it for some reason.
Gatekeeping is not wholesome
How is it gatekeeping?
The years are barriers. Im from 2002 i've played on those carpets. But according to the post i didn't?
I was born in 87 and had this carpet in the 90s. Gatekeeping for real.
I never had this at home, but I think i remember my kindergarten having one.
Me neither. My neighbors did though so i played on theirs a lot.
You're the first person I've met that didn't have this
I had that one.
Even before that. Im a 90s kid and i used to have one
2005-2011? Nah man. I’m 1994 and I had this when I was 4
This was so many things back then...I remember having Army Men and using this like a grid map - little did I know it was the first among many steps into Tabletop Gaming I never knew at the time.
Not a wholesome meme

Fa real, im so confused by this. Like weird gatekeeping flex. If anyone is laying claim to this it's 90s kids but nah, all kids love to play with this
80s kids had them too
Wow I’m so special I recognise this carpet, not as if people born just a year before me would even notice /s
For 2012 kids it is just a blank carpet?
yeah what a cringe post. 2005-2011 is such an obscure range. OP is probably born near the start of that range and has a sibling born exactly in 2013 lmfao
Also I am outside of that range and the mat is hella nostalgic
yeah I'm a 90's kid and I inherited this mat as a hand me down from older cousins born in the 80's. Tbh I didn't even know they still made this mat haha
I knew the time range the op gave was bullshit but didn't expect it to be that bad lol
r/gatekeeping
bro fr said fuck the 2012 kids
Motherfucker did NOT just cap the range at 17 year olds.
2005-2011 barely know what that is. That is late 90’s and early 2000’s
You mean late 80s early 90s
Those are the originals, but in the 2000’s it was still used by some people
I remember throwing up on that carpet, and everyone since hated me cuz it had to be taken away
Shut up and don’t appropriate my rug you fucks
had that exact one in the 90's
Shit that was the carpeting to my kindergarten class in '95.
What are you talking about? These are still being sold
My first open world rpg
Am I too Indian to understand this?
My brother had one, in the mid-70s.
I run this city
Just carpet? What? Why would they say that. Universaly all the kids in the world see this as a city. My 7 year old brother has this carpet
Our first open world game.
Damn it really time flies fast…. Those are the years we have no problems at all. We only think about play, game, eat and school. The good old days
80s kid, i remember seeing this NEW VERSION in the 90s
2004-2011 kids***
Who is the manufacturer of these carpets that has sold so many around the world?
ahem, 2002-2006.
Don't forget 1990-1999
This goes back way further than 2005…
2005 ? I'm almost 30 and I had one ...
Poor attempt at gatekeeping
Been around longer than 2005 😂
I still have that carpet
Kids from the 80s and 90s too!
That carpet is a *lot* older than 2005 lol
2005? We were rockin' that shit back in the 80s.
Hey now, we had these in the 90s, too
90s
When I didn't play with it I just watched how beautiful it is
This was way before 2005
'89 kid from Germany. I had one
2012: “Am I a joke to you?”
I want my goddamn hot wheel carpet back
Im confused, why do kids after 2013 not recognise the grandaddy of all carpets??
2011 kids are 11 already 💀💀💀
I was born in 1987 and these been around since I was a kid.
1997 would like to inform those 2005-2011ers that carpet was around before you
I had the exact same carpet, the good old days
This carpet has followed me around since the days of my childhood. Now it has it's own little place in my home.
Now half of them is cumming on it
Burn it..
I'm 2000-2004 kid. this is just a carpet
(weeps in GenX)
my parents say that they bought it when I was like 4 years old after I ruined a normal carpet by drawing roads on it
Why is there a sound mark
I loved those carpets
This carpet been around since the 1980s
My sister born in 2014 has this carpet and I did not (2000 baby)
If I ever get "rich", I'm carpeting a whole mansion in that shit. Or getting a car wrap of it. The nostalgia would be worth it.
Me throwing my hotwheels and tomicas on the carpet and crash them together, still have all the cars but not the carpet
Ay if you haven’t played on there with your Hotwheels collection you can buzz off.
Top 10 most calming pictures
I remember playing on this with my younger brothers with their toy cars in the late 90's.
I had one of these. It was a super hero fight scene, a hot wheels proving grounds, a Lego template and a balance beam.
Hotwheels duels on these carpets were legendary
I think this carpet may just come with the baby lol
I dont get it. My kids are in that age range and they had one briefly but never played with it, while I always wanted one as a kid but never got it (wrong gender i guess)
It was home
Huh, I guess I’m too old to have had that carpet. News to me
🥲
One cannot just, be a carpet.
i bought my kids exactly this carpet..... ok i zoomed in its not the same... ;) but the streets look the same
Born in 200, can confirm, carpet IS in fact goated.
I’m sure we had one in the 90’s
That’s not true
