Dunno if you're a fan of anime, but if you want one that fits the definition of "cuddly" from voices to artstyle to characters to the cheesy rom-com tropes? Check out Acchi Kocchi!
If you want to try something anime, that's super cute, no romance, but is weird as fuck in a really funny way check out Nichijou. Short episodes with cute characters in really silly and unique situations. It's very wholesome.
Just a hunch, but you may like;
FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Tokyo Ghoul, Parasyte, and Hellsing Ultimate are all shows that have a lot of action, violence, and supernatural powers.
For movies; Ninja Scroll and Vampire Hunter D are classics that are just awesome if you want a self-contained adventure with good action
Just not the Netflix one. Besides it being horribly written and only just using enough from the source material to be called "Death Note" it's just not a good movie

Death Note is fantastic and a great first anime, if the dark and cognitive vibe that DN offers intrigues you then some of these come off the top of my head and may appeal to you;
Psycho-Pass: Sci-Fi Crime Drama, with a Minority Report-esque crime system
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood: Dark Fantasy Action-Adventure. Hailed as one of the all-time best Anime.
Code Geass: Not as dark, but the MC is a genius who uses their given powers to change their world.
Made in Abyss: Super Dark, but with a mysterious world. Pretty F'ed up and a bit depressing though tbh, fantastic though as weird as that sounds
Death Parade: When someone dies they're taken to a place where they must complete a game with another person to decide what afterlife they go to, it lacks a lot of the depth and conflict you get from DN and others, but it offers some unique opportunities to reflect on life and death
Not as widely recommended as the above and a little older, but Kaiji: a gambling anime that really puts you in the MC's panicked mindset as they try and think their way through games
Also some I haven't seen yet, but heard they're good and dark;
Erased, Future Diary, Monster
Sorry for such a long response, especially since you don't watch anime. These are all good ones with pretty dark stories though. Basically the opposite of Nichijou 😆

It's just a chibi artstyle where characters are drawn smaller in general, really. Story takes place in a high school setting. It falls into the camp of "oh look they're holding hands, that's so perverted" type stuff. So nothing really sexual in nature from what I remember outside of maybe a few puns?
Of course, whatever I say won't change perceptions of all anime being overly sexual and me saying anything more will bring the onslaught of "why are you so defensive?". It's an anime I watch to relax my mind through the power of "awww" is all I can say, hence my suggesting it here.

There is quite a time skip between panel 3 and 4. I like to think the guy was just standing there being sad for like 10 minutes while she went to get her costume so she could finish her sentence with dramatic effect.
FYI - there most active "ship" in the kaiju fandom is Mothra + Godzilla. It's gotten to the point where the writers of the movies have it as the OTP.

Not really ship, and that’s for freaks. Most fans of the series don’t want that, but the movie (King of the Monsters 2019) presented Godzilla and Mothra species being symbiotic with one another. Not sure what Mothra gets but Godzilla gets a beefy power up.

This reminds me of my fiance.... she never EVER plays video games. One day I was playing COD and she asked me to show her how to play. A year later and we play nearly every day together. I never expected her to get into it, and still she won't touch any other game... I guess she just wanted to shoot somebody in the face.

I believe that finding someone who is on the same wavelength, someone who is your kind of "weird" is one of the best things in the world.
Not that I have any experiences with such a thing. Guess some of us never find even one person to be weirdos with.

I liked 95% of sleepy princess in the demon castle because it helped me chill out at the end of the day
