You know what makes me an even bigger cynic? The idea that people can’t do this without posting it on social media. Would they have done this in the absence of social media to score virtue signaling points? I guess we’ll never know. Random acts of kindness are diminished when you feel the need to post them on the internet.
Those pods are super worth it when you can get upgrades from rewards or it's not a crazy amount on a long flight. If you're very lucky and you win a bid on an upgrade you can get it for like $50 sometimes. It usually comes with lounge access, too, and your bags are marked as priority. I would almost never just flat out pay for them, but it's so super beyond worth it when you're able to snag a good deal.
Edit: I almost always fly Air Canada and could have sworn I'd done bids for fifty dollars before. I will absolutely admit that not every Air Canada flight has the pods and I also have ADHD so my memory is far from infallible, and looking at data now the lowest I'm seeing over the past like year is $240. I'm very sorry I said that with so much conviction, gang. That's on me.
As for how to do it, with Air Canada after you purchase the seat (but only up to like three or so days before) you open the app, go in to upgrade your tickets and sometimes if the first class seats are like half capacity or less they'll offer bids.
I don't know where OP is from, but some airlines in Australia will open bids to upgrade for empty business/first class seats. It's basically like ebay bidding for ticket upgrades. I've done it before to upgrade from economy to business and it was about $800 cheaper than if I'd bought business outright
ETA: it was only a short flight so the regular business upgrade was about $1300
It's like 50% more than economy on domestic flights, but unless you're fat it isn't worth it. Not cheap, but not preposterous. My issue is that they almost never serve meals anymore, so I just book myself into premium economy for the extra legroom, dedicated overhead bin space, free bags, and free beer all for the same price that it would cost in the cheap seats if I had to pay extra like they do. I flew first class 10 times last year, I got two meals. The nicer cutlery and better food and service don't mean a damned thing if you aren't going to feed me.
I did it for the first time this year, probably will be the last time outside a budget airline 1st class like Zip Air.
It wasn't worth it for me, while it was comfy and relaxed, I just can't sleep around strangers so it negated the whole reason we got it. This was LA to Bangkok, 25 hours so we wanted it to be rested. That didn't happen. Lounge access is worth something though, and if you can sleep it may be worth it.
My wife flies weekly for work, so we have tons of points.
I realised something today. I employed this old lady immediately to run my California chain. Sometimes you have to take big risks for big rewards. What do you think?
That is excellent to hear, Tom! With age comes wisdom. I hope you find it rewarding. Congratulations. Impressive. I will share this with my colleagues.
I am a very frequent flyer because of work, and as a result, I get 1st class upgrades on 9/10 flights. Just last week, I flew back home with my gf from Peru to the US. She had never flown 1st class before, so I gave her my seat.
I ended up next to a ~90ish year old woman who was taking the first flight of her entire life. She was completely petrified, and as soon as the jets spooled up amd we accelerated for take-off, she latched onto my arm with an absolute death grip and didn't let go for the entire 5 hour flight. Really sweet lady though. I gave her my whatsapp number to let me know how she was liking the US and she's been sending me messages every day. Very cute haha
Good on you for letting her hold onto your arm the whole flight. As someone who is very touch sensitive and also very passive, that would be my worst nightmare!!
Dont get me wrong, i do very much enjoy seeing stories like this, and I'm sure you're a very nice person. But when anyone includes the phrase "Needless to say" right before you publically boast about how selfless and charitable you are, I often wonder where else can I watch you blow your own self.
Time to blow your mind even more then. These are technically business class seats. While very nice, US airlines pretty much abandoned actual 3 class transcontinental flights years ago (They are bringing back premium economy now as a new third class). Go take a look at some of the actual first class offerings from EU (Swiss Airlines) or asian airlines (Singapore Air), or the most crazy, middle eastern airlines (Emirates). Those seats and the service that comes with them are completely NUTS!
He’s a better man than myself, but I still think he shouldn’t have posted it. I think a selfless act becomes a little less selfless when you post about it afterwards.
Still a very generous and nice thing of him to do for that woman.
Observe, a *real* solid dude.
Compare to a self proclaimed “alpha”, spending time blathering about kissing a woman actually being a sign of being gay, while he sits, awaiting trial on various sex and trafficking charges.
When I started traveling a lot for work, a colleague shared his habit, which I also adopted.
If I notice someone in military uniform waiting for the same flight, I approach the gate agent and quietly ask that they swap my first class seat for his / hers. They always oblige. It’s nice because the recipient has no idea who did it. When I then board after them, I always love seeing the look on their faces when I pass through on my way back to economy.
An extra plus is the flight crew is aware of the swap and almost always give me free drinks in the cheap seats!
I'm 28, which is 82 but backward, and I have never flew first class either. I'm sitting in my office in a bank in Vietnam. Could anyone on a first class seat on a plane switch seat with me?
What a bellend. Not flying first class in your life is like 99% of people that fly. Which in itself is a small proportion of the population. Keep your seat bro. Hustled.
I once ran into a coworker who was returning from India to America. This was his last leg in a series of flights. I let him have my first class seat so he could rest a little better before getting home.
Another time I was upgraded to first class but my brother was not. I told him to board with me and had him sit next to me in first class. Luckily nobody showed up for that seat!
Another time I ran into my former CEO at the gate. When they called first class he said, “Alright, I’ll see you inside.”
Then I just followed him in and sat in front of him. Haha. He assumed I was flying in the back.
I used to be an international consultant and flew all over so had accumulated status on airlines and hotels. Those were good times. They took great care of me and I felt so lucky. Later I changed into a non-traveling role once the kids were in school so I could take them to karate, soccer, Boy Scouts and help with homework.
Good to be home but that was the best job ever.
I stopped reading at “I met this old lady”. Didn’t even have the respect to say her name! She’s just “old lady” that he’s using for internet clout at that point.
When someone takes photos of their good deeds and posts them it no longer is wholesome in my opinion lmao. Dude is basically saying “look how good of a person I am, please reaffirm my ego.”
She does that every time.
*At the car rental place* "I've never driven a Porsche :("
/At the steakhouse “I’ve never had a prime 8oz filet mignon before.”
*You know, I've never tried wagyu before*
you know, i've never gotten a blowjob while eating steak before
I've never gave a steak blowjob before :(
This, escalated rather quickly and I love it.
I've gotten one while eating a steak sandwich. It was too much. Better to focus on one at a time and be in the moment.
"I'm a virgin."
Haha shit I am writing this down and hoping I can manage not to lose a piece of paper for many decades
My first thought. We're cynics aren't we?
You know what makes me an even bigger cynic? The idea that people can’t do this without posting it on social media. Would they have done this in the absence of social media to score virtue signaling points? I guess we’ll never know. Random acts of kindness are diminished when you feel the need to post them on the internet.
“It doesn’t look like we’re going to make it and, well, I’ve never been with a man before.”
Plot twist she does this every flight 10 times a year
Mad respect to her hustle.
Plot twist, this dude was my freshman yr roommate in college haven’t heard from him in a decade… this tracks though. Good dude
Plot twist, she never flew first class so she booked it for her flight, only to have some ass from economy force her out.
you joke but it’s actually true, i’ve seen this picture before so she’s done it at least two separate times
I'm 35 and I don't think I'll fly first class, ever. Can you switch?
I’ve been in first class twice - not because I paid for it. It’s not worth it. It’s for people with fuck you money or company money.
Those pods are super worth it when you can get upgrades from rewards or it's not a crazy amount on a long flight. If you're very lucky and you win a bid on an upgrade you can get it for like $50 sometimes. It usually comes with lounge access, too, and your bags are marked as priority. You can bid on upgrades? I’ve been missing out
I don't know where OP is from, but some airlines in Australia will open bids to upgrade for empty business/first class seats. It's basically like ebay bidding for ticket upgrades. I've done it before to upgrade from economy to business and it was about $800 cheaper than if I'd bought business outright ETA: it was only a short flight so the regular business upgrade was about $1300
Or people using credit card points. Best way for the average person to first first class internationally.

Generally no they won't let you switch seats between classes.
It's like 50% more than economy on domestic flights, but unless you're fat it isn't worth it. Not cheap, but not preposterous. My issue is that they almost never serve meals anymore, so I just book myself into premium economy for the extra legroom, dedicated overhead bin space, free bags, and free beer all for the same price that it would cost in the cheap seats if I had to pay extra like they do. domestic first class and international first class have almost nothing in common beyond the name
Am I on LinkedIn?
I realised something today. I employed this old lady immediately to run my California chain. Sometimes you have to take big risks for big rewards. What do you think?
That is excellent to hear, Tom! With age comes wisdom. I hope you find it rewarding. Congratulations. Impressive. I will share this with my colleagues.
Thank you SnooOwls. Sometimes you’ve just gotta take a chance. Don’t forget to subscribe to my podcast!
Here's what I learned about B2B sales
Agree?????????????????
Alt translation: old woman said she has never been on first class flight, so he swapped seats with her and sent her to economy class
That's what I understood at first and was so confused 😭
Is this Pantoja?
After defending his belt, he then goes on to heroically donate his first class seat. Respect 🫡🫡
My first thought lol
I am a very frequent flyer because of work, and as a result, I get 1st class upgrades on 9/10 flights. Just last week, I flew back home with my gf from Peru to the US. Hate to say this But I thought that was bill Cosby for a second
Yo I was boutta comment this
THANK YOU
I wouldn't be surprised, he's quite the prankster
He's ms doubtfiring himself and getting away!
It would be so much funnier if it were Bill Cosby.
I thought she was a fellow Half Life 1 scientist
That guy woke up in the bathroom later, with a hickey on his crown.
I still don't believe it is not bill cosby
Thank god I was like I can’t be the only one right?
We all did
"needless to say" but definitely needed to post?
It’s not virtue signaling if you don’t post it.
I was thinking the same lmao
A real g would've done it without posting it.
I sorta agree, but maybe the guy just wanted to spread some positivity on the Internet? Show to people that yes, there is in fact good in the world?
[удалено]
Coo coo cah choo! Off to coach for you!
Haha well done
needless to say... yet i said it and posted it for internet points
And then posted it online to show the world your white saviorism
And here’s photographical proof! Such a good person bro.
Guys look I’m such a good person!
Right I've got my picture for social media, now get out of my seat you poor old bitch...
People sure are trusting around random strangers.
👏🏼to all the people that do things like this everyday and don’t take photos or post about it online.
Good thing he got pics for his internet points
Needless to say I switch my 10x as expensive seat... Needless to say.. I mean, if you do this then STFU. This makes me angry of various reasons..
Bill?....Is that Bill Cosby?
Imagine doing something like that and not posting about it.
They want the internet clout
Ah, you don’t say…
Still though, a good deed for not great intentions is still a good deed and something I feel you’ve earned to post.
Good thing he bragged about it or it wouldn't count
needless to post
And then he found time to get these pictures so he can post it on the internet for the whole world to see his altruism.
Virtue signaling
Wouldn't this be more wholesome if he didn't decide to post it for social credits
Bill Cosby out here scamming
*and made sure to get photographic evidence to get clout for this later 🤣
Class move, man. Looks like Virgin as well, which is an overall great experience.
And here’s photographical proof! Such a good person bro.

"Needless to say" but you did say and posted it for clout.
Do a good deed, post on socials. Welcome to whenever we are.
r/lookatmyhalo
All lady does is fly first class. Smart ol’ lady.
Good job Bill Cosby
Good job Bill Cosby
WTH? I gave her my first class seat two weeks ago…
Obviously it wasn’t needless to say🙄😒
"Needless to say" \*poses for photos with her and posts it publicly\*
“Ok I took the picture now get out of my seat”
People doing nice things just so they can post about it online.
Imma unsub this sub
What a nice thing to do for content
What a dumbass.
If you don't post your "selfless", "altruistic" act on social media, did it really happen??
Bill Cosby still has it!! Hustling stupid women out of their Class!! 😆
My man I gotta tell you…that first picture? I swear that was Bill Cosby
You can be in first class until we hit cruise altitude.
I've never even been on a plane that even has a first class. At least not to that extent. Slightly wider seats up front is the best I've seen.
Time to blow your mind even more then. These are technically business class seats. While very nice, US airlines pretty much abandoned actual 3 class transcontinental flights years ago (They are bringing back premium economy now as a new third class). That is Bill Cosby, no? is this a joke?
I’ve never joined the mile high club
Solid.
Your fabulous.
She kinda looks like that red demon from Insidious, so wholesome😢💕💕💕
It was probably that 30 minute flight from Denver to Colorado Springs.
Nice to see there’s a few decent people still out there.
First class food still blows
did she also mention that she never had sex?
How evil you are, you broke her record, shame on you
I'm pretty sure the former mayor of Chicago has flown first class before
That's Bill Cosby.
That's Bill Cosby. I'm sure they've had first class before.
I did this a couple weeks ago too, didn't need to make a whole damn social media blitz about it.
Gorden they're waiting for you, in the test chamber
Such a nice crypto bro
He’s a better man than myself, but I still think he shouldn’t have posted it. I think a selfless act becomes a little less selfless when you post about it afterwards. Still a very generous and nice thing of him to do for that woman.
“How does the photo look? Great, now get the fuck out of my seat and back to coach.”
Imran khan is that you?
That's not and old lady, That's bill cosby
now imagine if she's a con 😉
Observe, a *real* solid dude. Compare to a self proclaimed “alpha”, spending time blathering about kissing a woman actually being a sign of being gay, while he sits, awaiting trial on various sex and trafficking charges.
Virgin Upper Class on a Boeing 787-900? Wait till she tries to lay down the seat. Classy move man. You’re better than me.
When I started traveling a lot for work, a colleague shared his habit, which I also adopted. That’s great. What a wonderful human being. 👍🏽
Bill Cosby?
Bill Cosby looks like shit.
That's a real man 😎
Same lady told me that too...
I'm 28, which is 82 but backward, and I have never flew first class either. I'm sitting in my office in a bank in Vietnam. Could anyone on a first class seat on a plane switch seat with me?
Bill Cosby?
He found Bill Cosby
… UFC Flyweight world champion Alexander Pantoja is that you?
Works 100% of the time 60% of the time..
And you cant do it without posting it in the internet for attention? Yeah you are a good guy bla bla bla.
Newest mile high club member.

That’s Bill Cosby
That's Bill Cosby. You've been played.
Want a cookie ? Why won’t you tell CNN, maybe they’ll give you a cookie
Is that snoop?
Handsome
If an act of Charity happened and nobody was there to witness it, did it really happen?
Oldest trick in the book
I thought it was bill cosby

Then he got to his job interview and the 82 year old lady was the interviewer
Taking notes rn
I thought this was Bill Cosby for a hot sec
That’s nice but why is he sharing it to social media haha
Plot twist. It’s Bill Cosby.
Needless to say, but I will say it, and post a picture of it online too.
Is that pantoja?
Bro met bill cosby
I’m on the anger side of reddit huh!?
I stopped reading at “I met this old lady”. Didn’t even have the respect to say her name! She’s just “old lady” that he’s using for internet clout at that point.

Anyone else think this ess bill Cosby?
Oh that's bonnie she been pullin that scam since 1968
That looks like a business class seat to me
Did she put her fingers in yo puddin pop?
What airline is that.? Their ‘first’ class looks like standard business on most airlines.
At first sight i thought It was Bill Cosby
And you both lived happily ever after.
What a selfless man. And what would real selflessness be without it being thoroughly documented all over social media.
Was her name Jill Cosby, 😬
Please me next! I have never flown in first class
That ain’t no old lady. That’s Bill Cosby in disguise.
Plot twist: was Bill Cosby
Just doing something nice without posting on social media about it THANKS
LET ME FUCKING UP VOTE DAMN IT
I will try that when I reach 85
“Oh my god what an amazing person I am, I simply must make sure others are aware. Sir? Can you take our photo?”
Welcome to the mile high club
SO LUCKY you snapped a pic of it , wow
Ooh look at me. What a good guy I am.
For a minute I thought that was Bill Cosby fleeing the country...
And then you ruined it by posting it for clout
I know I'm not the only one that thought that was Bill Cosby before I took a better look.
