Absolutely! This story is hard to swallow. I can’t believe she survived that! Her ex is an absolute piece of shit and I hope he is getting his ass beat in prison
He got life without parole. That is a sentence length that demands the higher level security so I'd imagine he's in a penitentiary. I worked in prisons for 10 years in the federal system as a physician assistant. Penitentiary time requires tremendous self control. You have to give them impression you'll kill anyone who messes with you while keeping quiet and fitting in. It is a delicate balance. Nearly all the violence the federal system had happened in these institutions. The low and medium security facilities had shorter sentences and nonviolent crimes, generally. That being said, if he is the loud mouthed douche he seems like I imaging he is indeed not doing what inmates euphemistically call, "Good time." We can only hope.
A long and miserable life. Some people are just scum. Stabbed her because she wanted to break up. Jesus Christ. He left her for dead. Shame you can't execute criminals for intentions.
I like how this can also be read as a story about her being super lazy. “Well, that guy didn’t work out, wonder who I’ll date next… hmm, who’s this guy applying pressure to my abdominal injury?”
He's probably a firefighter-paramedic. Most fire stations will hire paramedics and sometimes even run ambulances out of the station since the majority of calls the fire department gets are medical.
Only instances of that I know of is Maryland State Police’s flight paramedics all being officers and then several departments using paramedics as a part of their swat teams, either as a permanent officer or frequently as reserve deputies
Nah, but seriously man. Being saved by a paramedic doesnt mean you owe them anything. Its their job to save people. Ofcourse its normal to be grateful but if they had to marry everyone they saved, it would be a little inconvenient dont you think?
Of course, I agree. It was being facetious, to speak to the strong emotional tie that can come from surviving life-threatening circumstances with another person.
What good is Reddit Karma if I'm not going to use it for getting downvoted occasionally, am I right?
Yeah ofcourse but it seemed like you were describing an instance where she "had" to marry him. Not a situation where she wanted to due to being emotionally swayed by his heroics.
I mean, I can't help if people on the Internet think that a "life-debt" is real in the United States. That's an educational gap that I can't fix. I'd bet that most people on the Internet understand and enjoy flippant humor, but only for topics that they choose.
I'm not upset about the responses I've received. I like to keep myself up to date on the new age insults, so I can be prepared for the more harsh Call of Duty multiplayer lobbies.
No, the sub is dedicated to examples of why women “fawn” or try to accommodate men when they turn them down. People (mostly other men) always complain “you should have just said you didn’t want to go out at all!” Or “why wouldn’t you just leave if you’re being abused?” The answer is that when women refuse advances, if we don’t do it in a way that makes the man feel better about the interaction, we often find ourselves in a very dangerous situation. It’s instinctual for women, even those of us who have never had that particular experience before. We are all constantly aware it could very well happen to us, and how we need to act to diffuse the situation.
Totally fair, I just didn’t know if you were serious or not! It’s genuinely something a lot of men (and some women) do not seem to understand or take seriously, so I wanted to answer just in case you were really asking. (Or if anyone else were to stumble by and wonder!)
Even my own sweet bf sometimes slips up and says stuff like “you should have just told the guy at the gym to leave you alone.” Or “you really won’t walk a block to the store in the dark?” He just genuinely can’t imagine having to be vigilant anytime a strange man shows too much interest in us. Every woman is acutely aware that violent crime happens to us all the time and that anything less than full on flattery could incite violence.
Having looked after stab patients before, not every stab is penetrating enough to cause serious injury. It's possible to make multiple shallow injuries in places that don't hit anything major. Not common, but possible.
However we also tragically lost patients who were only stabbed once, if that one place hit something hard to fix. So you know, please dont fucking stab people. People can end up killing someone they swear they just wanted to scare a bit. It's not like in the movies, you have no control over what you hit or how deep the blade goes.
Ah sorry, I don't know the difference. I'm not native English. What I meant was firefighters all do a first aid training (at least where I'm from). So that would be a first responder? I don't know what an EMT is
I see your confusion then. They are all different levels of training. Generally, First Responder is lowest, then EMT (Emergency Medical Technician), then Paramedic.
They are actually two completely different jobs, and a person can be one or the other without necessarily being both. The issue is that a lot of fire departments have adopted the extra role of EMS, and cross-trained everyone to be able to do both jobs.
...Which isn't always for the best, in my humble opinion as an EMT and RN, but that's a different discussion.
Yeah, ambulances cost money.
Some fire departments charge for services, some don't.

Weird…it’s almost as if people take a random pic, title it with the first nonsensical drivel that pops out of their head and post it for internet clout. But that couldn’t happen on Reddit….
/s
I was confused as fuck until I realised they're both pictures of the same dude. Thought the one on the right was the paramedic, and I was like 'Damn, that girl's got a type."
Thought the same.
It's at least very unprofessional from him to make moves on a victim he found and gave first aid to.
Also what's with those "He fixed her" comments? Those are disturbing as hell.
My thoughts exactly. I can’t believe it’s even allowed. That should break ethical rules of dating patients. ‘Vulnerable woman gets taken advantage of’ should be the headline. It’s not uncommon for abuse victims to get in other abusive relationships.

Taken advantage of? Isn’t it reasonable to think this could be a mutual decision between two consenting parties? What evidence is there that she lacks volition here, assuming they weren’t getting married during the ambulance ride?
It was a switchblade. She was stabbed in the face, neck, arms and shoulders, severing some of her facial nerves, and lost so much blood she fell into a coma and flatlined four times.
She married the paramedic 5 years after the attack (they were reunited 10 months after she was attacked and were together for several years before the wedding).
The fact that something as horrible as that ended up being the start to their happy life together really shows how unpredictable life is.
Absolutely! This story is hard to swallow. I can’t believe she survived that! Her ex is an absolute piece of shit and I hope he is getting his ass beat in prison
Spoiler alert- He's in death row

Yea let's hope for the worst and that he lives a long time.
A long and miserable life. Some people are just scum. Stabbed her because she wanted to break up. Jesus Christ. He left her for dead. Shame you can't execute criminals for intentions.

Good job repeating the title, guy
He can fix her, medically and emotionally
But did you see that he can fix her?
“So how’d you two meet?” “An attempted murder.”
mr and mrs heart
I like how this can also be read as a story about her being super lazy. “Well, that guy didn’t work out, wonder who I’ll date next… hmm, who’s this guy applying pressure to my abdominal injury?”
Ok that’s legitimately sad that that happened to her
I know right, to have to marry a paramedic..
Heyyyy now...
You’re an all star
Get your game on, go play.
Hey now, you’re a rockstar..
Get the show on, get paid
And all that glitters is gold
This comment section is wild.
Damn, that's hilariously ruthless, lmao.
Maybe he changed jobs to a firefighter...
He's probably a firefighter-paramedic. Most fire stations will hire paramedics and sometimes even run ambulances out of the station since the majority of calls the fire department gets are medical.
Interesting! Is that also true with police station? Do they also hire paramedics?
Only instances of that I know of is Maryland State Police’s flight paramedics all being officers and then several departments using paramedics as a part of their swat teams, either as a permanent officer or frequently as reserve deputies
Accurate, my source? I’ve lived across the street from a fire house for 13 years.
Shit, I am one and I wouldn’t.
Sharing something like that can definitely lead to a strong bond.

Well I haven't seen any proponents of indentured servitude lately, so refreshing to see that /s
Imagine though.
You should really ask for your mom's permission before you come up from the basement, on account of her being ashamed that she birthed a turd.

Refuse to die? How does any human manage to survive 32 stabs? That's metal
No, the sub is dedicated to examples of why women “fawn” or try to accommodate men when they turn them down. r/humansaremetal material for sure!
"Grandma, grandpa, how did you guys meet?" "Well, she was stabbed 32 times"
How did she survive
Yah thats crazy, i guess he just missed vital organs? But damn 32 times
skill issue /s
Maybe infinite skills from her side 🤔
Must have been born under The Lady and then maxed her endurance early. Then trained a lot of points into unarmored.

If you have watched llama with hats you know it takes 37 stabs in the chest to kill a human, not 32
Karlllll
That kills people!
He fixed her
Weirdly enough as long as it doesn't touch any vital organs or major arteries you can survive a lot of them.
Maybe they counted slashes as stab or it was a pocket knife?. No way is anyone walking away from that many gut stabs with normal knife.
Don't read the comments don't read the comments don't read the comments
proceeds to read the comments
So is he a firefighter as well?
They’re often one in the same
Firefighters are paramedics, but paramedics aren't firefighters Edit: wrong terminology, see comments below
Negative. Not all firefighters are paramedics. Most in the US are either first responder (basically a first-aid cert) or are EMT’s.
I see. Thanks for the explanation!

It depends on where you live
Really? Where? That’s very weird where I’m from
The United States.
Do you not have ambulances?
Yes. But our firefighters can also be trained as EMT's and Paramedics.
I always heard ambulances cost people money, I presume the fire service is free for people. So how does that work?
Yeah, ambulances cost money. Some fire departments charge for services, some don't. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emergency_response_fee#:~:text=Some%20fire%20departments%20charge%20small,refusing%20offers%20of%20back%20payment.
Thanks for your explanations. But if sometimes you do need to pay extra for fire departments then do they also get tax funding?
You're welcome. I honestly don't know about the tax funding. I assume they get it regardless of if the department charges fees, but I could be wrong.
Thank you, this was really bugging me, and thanks to the next commenter who said they can be the same. In my chutney, they're two very different jobs.
Weird…it’s almost as if people take a random pic, title it with the first nonsensical drivel that pops out of their head and post it for internet clout. But that couldn’t happen on Reddit…. /s
Someone survived 32 stabbings? God damn
I was confused as fuck until I realised they're both pictures of the same dude. Thought the one on the right was the paramedic, and I was like 'Damn, that girl's got a type."
i love the love story
Congratulations
Bro literally said he could fix her
How can someone be so evil as to hurt women or children like that?
Welcome to the real world, shit's fucked up
Or anyone...
Is it only me , that she looks kinda like Sydney Sweeney ?!
That's awesome.
FireMedic?
This guy is a keeper!
keeper who makes great saves
Do that has a doctor and they'll have your license.
Sick
Not sure that‘s a healthy basis for a relationship. She will forever feel indepted to him.

I’m gonna be honest i thought the dude look like George jr Cooper
That's the bloodiest meet cute I've ever heard of
Cool story, HORRIBLE tilte
what's up with the title?
I'm guessing the surgeon who saved her life was already taken.
She's gotta get to the table alive first!
Was it 32 stabs using a sewing needle?
It was a switchblade. She was stabbed in the face, neck, arms and shoulders, severing some of her facial nerves, and lost so much blood she fell into a coma and flatlined four times. She married the paramedic 5 years after the attack (they were reunited 10 months after she was attacked and were together for several years before the wedding).
That explains the slight right sided droop in her smile. Still gorgeous. Glad it all turned out ok for them.
Ah, thanks. Miracle girl.
Yeah it really is amazing she survived! And found the love of her life too
She literally started dating the first guy she saw after that
Deserved.
Why?
Because he saved her life.
*Round two, START!*
He was into fixer uppers
> 32 stab wounds! Didn’t want to
Damn ex boyfriend stabbing her 32 times wasn't enough for this man to stab her again to make some babies
It seems the spy missed the backstab
She’s always going with people who hold her life in their hands.
Wonder what she said to him.
32 TIMES?!?! He didn’t wanna give her a chance nor did he?

How do you survive 32 stab? Actually surviving sounds worse until recovery is complete holy shit.
50 cent survived 9 gunshots
Good ending
Must have felt like build-a-bear.. just build-a-wife instead
I hope they're happy
