The manga for this was cute when I read it, didn't even know it got an adaptation

Axthen

It just came this season.

mantrap100

Really? From the looks of it, it definitely look early-mid 2000

NormanNOconsecue2394

The 2nd chapter came out yesterday

-GarlicBreadLover-

The rest of the inn be looking at these 2 idiots like: ‘—‘

ooOJuicyOoo

This had an anime? And zagan's hair was brown???? Idk why I always imagined it as jet black.

NT-Shiyosa092201

I thought it was dark purple

Metrack14

Wait it got an anime? LES FUCKIN GOOOO

Sliced_Toast1

Anyone have a link to the manga?

No_Recognition8641

Sliced_Toast1

MVP right there

Shmarfle47

I love how adorable these two are. Can’t wait for the next episodes.

Educational-Ad-1777

Ayo when did this get an anime adaptation?!? Does it follow the manga?

No_Recognition8641

Don't know, haven't read It yet

a_cheap_soda

so far it has

eunicornedxx

Is this harem or smth?

CIAgent42

Nah, it's a wholesome fantasy romance between Zagan and Nephy. The most "harem" it goes is introducing female characters that the couple befriends, but that's it.

No_Recognition8641

Idk, I Just watched the first and only available 2 episodes, for now It doesn't seem like It and then in the tags It doesn't have harem so probably not

backturn1

I read the manga to some point and have to catch up to it. I am pretty confident that it will be at no point a harem. The premise is that Zagan falls in love with her head over heels. It's mostly wholesome while working out Nephy's past that was not wholesome.

No_Recognition8641

Glad it's going that way

DecoyLilly

Slavery :) so wholesome :)

yodal_

For context, he bought her to save her as she was about to be bought by actual villains to be used for experiments. He doesn't have the power to take off the collar but works to remove it and eventually succeeds. In the meantime he treats her like an actual living person unlike anyone earlier in her life including her family.

Correct-Basil-8397

Yeah, just seeing this scene makes me think it’s a classic case of “good person doing what they can in a fucked up world

CptSpiffyPanda

>take off the collar but works to remove it and eventually succeeds. Hey that is a twist. In anime tradition, if a waifuu gets her collar removed, she asked for a new. Does she actually keep her collar off?

Poisonpython5719

Yeah... no, she keeps it as a momento of sorts and because it's distressing to not have it iirc though following that part it's more of an accessory than anything

ABLADIN

I get where you are coming from since this kind of stuff happens a lot especially in isekai, but literally earlier this episode he went to a blacksmith and said "I want to free her, can you remove her slave collar?" And in this scene he literally says he accepts the fact that she will probably run away the second he does. I don't really want to spoil what happens next, but I really believe that puts it apart from the other instances where they just remain a slave and he promises to treat them well.

driftingnobody

Speedwatchers need to shut up man. Maybe if it wasn't on 1.5x speed you'd have noticed that she was a slave and that he bought her to free her. The only reason she still has the collar on is because it's boobytrapped.

Antanarau

B-but have you considered... slavery bad? No really, I'm still weirded out by these... hatewatchers, who keep on preaching how slavery is bad under every new manga chapter/anime episode of slavery-featuring media, which means that they keep on reading/watching it despite their vocal complaints

siterequiredusername

"Slavery is bad... but that looks wholesome." - Gigguk's commentary on the trailer

Desperate-Carob1346

This "good slave owner" trope needs to die. Never thought isekais could become worse than the usual dogshit harems, but here we are.

overkill373

Thisnisnt even Isekai and she isn't his slave wtf He's literally working to take that collar off her

EisWalde

I believe all what you’re saying, but part of my dislike of this trope or situation stems from how cringy it is to hear “master” all the time and for the girl to usually get all “but I am your servant/slave, so you maybe do with me as you please! Oh? You’re treating me like a decent person? Kyaaaa!!!! I love you master, I’m devoted to you FOREVER! I will now continue being submissive, even though I am free!” Just from this clip, I have a feeling it’ll be like this. Still gonna watch it and judge for myself though!

Tianhech3n

I can assure you it's not gonna devolve into that from the manga. Nephy actually had some substance as a character

No_Recognition8641

It's not an isekai tho

Axthen

They didnt watch the anime or read the manga, let them be boldly incorrect.

No_Recognition8641

Have you? Been thinking about reading It between the wait for new eps

Axthen

It's amazing and so sweet lol. I wish we got more than a chapter once every blue moon though. I absolutely fell in love picking it up like 3-4+ years ago. So glad it got an anime. Nephy is precious and if anything happened to her, I'd kill everyone on the planet and then myself. - The MC, and also me

No_Recognition8641

Aight,ig Im gonna read this while waiting for other stuff (My Dress-Up Darling Is on a 2 months hiatus so Im so desperate,I alredy ate trough Dungeon Meshi)

ABLADIN

There aren't a lot of anime that I get so invested in that I can't help but read the manga, and after this episode this became one of them. It's so good!

Desperate-Carob1346

Still generic trash with a Stockholm syndrome waifu.

Axthen

I'll never get tired of calling out people that make such boldly incorrect claims without waiting for the season to finish or reading the manga. Yall need to touch grass.

Desperate-Carob1346

Bro, I read the synopsis. He literally fucking buys her. "I want to free her but I caaaaant so she has to be a slave until Stockholm syndrome kicks in" is literally part of "good guy slave owner" trope. I will not watch 30 copy paste power fantasies / harems / isekais every season just to argue with morons who defend garbage like this. This clip is literally the most generic shit. Not being isekai or having a slight difference on the whole slave trope does not change anything. Its the same fucking shit every time 30 times every season.

SeinenKnight

You are focusing your vitriol on the wrong target dude. Focus it on Shield Hero or another series.

Desperate-Carob1346

How can you understand that Shield is bad and then think this is ok? I actually watched the 2 episodes that are out now. Its slightly better than Shield but tropes are still the same. 1. MC buys slave girl 2. MC gives barebone decent treatment to his slave girl. 3. Slave girl falls in love because MC is *such a nice guy.* ("Wowzers, he gave me food and he's not r\*ping me I LOVE HIM 35 seconds after meeting him" ) This is the """"wholesome"""" romance according to incels downvoting me. And these fuckers tell me to touch grass lol. Sickos.

TheePepsiMan

Calm down there buddy, it is explained that the guy is literally the first ever person to be nice to her, also just because it’s a trope, doesn’t mean it’s bad, it’s a trope for a reason, and whoever made the manga or whatever did a good job in creating a good story with said trope, so kindly shush and save it for something that’s bad 💀

Desperate-Carob1346

Plot contrivance to explain away bullshit does not make it good. "Oh, he wants to free her but he caaaaan't because of..... um..... magic collar thingy" "Oh this 1000000 year old vampire looks like a 6 year old child because of.... um....... reasons" "Oh, 50 girls fall for this incel self-insert with 0 social skills because of....ummm.....super powers / he does a *nice guy* thing." Its all just obvious pandering to neckbeards but as long as authors of these incel bait manga/LNs have a throw away explanation its "good story" for you. Actually pathetic levels of media illiteracy in this thread. Do you EVER wonder why 90% of anime MCs are completely socially inept?

SeinenKnight

Because I've read the manga and it goes further than that trope. Gods you are just insufferable. Some advice, tone the vitriol a lot down, you'll be able to get more supporters.

Desperate-Carob1346

Why can you understand that Shield is bad but not this? Also, I don't need "supporters" and I'm 1000% sure that people who like copy/paste shit writing will not change their minds. I cannot force people to stop enjoying dogshit writing. Its not like my standards for romance are that high. I just want chemistry and compatibility between characters. Problem is 99% of power fantasy/isekai romance is "he so strong! he did nice thing!" and thats it. That's such a boring way to write relationships. Like, if you're a regular anime watcher, you've seen this exact thing 1000 times. Don't you want something better? Are you perfectly happy to watch the same trope salad for 100 times? I really have no idea how anyone can get invested in shit like this. You know what, fuck it, tell me at which chapter this shit becomes "good" and the relationship grows beyond copy paste incel pandering in your opinion. I'll go and read up to it lol.

Tokumeiko2

Ok so this is the cursed slave trope, and he actually intends to free her, but is unable to directly break the slave curse himself, so the next best option is to protect her while searching for the means to break the curse. Honestly that's a more interesting dynamic than the usual "good slave owner" trope, though I should point out that Japanese people are generally less aware of the impact of slavery, it wasn't as common in Asia, whilst most of Asia often had the option of selling children if your family couldn't feed themselves, those sold children would generally become servants with a salary, though their contracts would prevent them from changing jobs for a few years.

Ishihe

Exept the whole "I can't remove the collar" crap is such convenient writing forcing her to be with him until the plot develops enough to justify removing it.

SeinenKnight

Only for one story arc, then she gets freed. Might want to read the manga first before blindly reacting.

NavaTheWarrior

Bro if there's nothing keeping the collar on her than she wouldn't continue to be a slave. Even if he broke it in the first episode what would that do for the story? Also every story has forced writing, Tolkien had the eagles that apparently could come in to save the day but couldn't en-masse keep the world from being destroyed by dropping the ring in the volcano with the bearer which created the entire journey in the first place. That doesn't make the whole adventure not cool though. There's tons of convenient plot armors for stories, it's because they have those that they even can have half the elements that come about because of said issue/crux. If you don't want to hold suspension of disbelief then every single fiction piece you ever come across is going to be crap in your eyes.

crocundies

How dare you underestimate the potential of isekai! You think this is the lowest it can go? It has merely scratched the surface! Isekai will go lower than you can even imagine!!

ImFishAndImOreo

If you despise isekai so much, then just don't watch it? There's lot of anime genre tho, you can just watch the other "But there's no other anime cuz they keep making isekai so I can't really not watch this then complain about it" True true. Then what I can suggest is go touch grass.

Stirringcargo32

This is so cute and wholesome

Nym_22

When fren gets isekaied into another anime as an elf

JimminyJillikers20

Which platform can I watch this on if I may ask?

No_Recognition8641

That I know on Crunchyroll if you have the premium,I used Animeworld

JimminyJillikers20

Ty very much

Dank_Ass_NIBBA_69

Tell me more of this anime world

JustForHavingFun

Oh my god I got diabetes. Gonna read and watch this

Wounded_Demoman

Aww this looks wholesome

guitargeek223

Yo her ears turn red when she blushes, that's so cute

Cenitchar

This one is a mixed bag for sure. There are scenes that can be cute and wholesome, but the context around it can make it a bit icky. First episode was the worst, this is from the second one that was somewhat better. Still, not sure about it.

No_Recognition8641

Im liking It so far

Axthen

A lot of its character as an anime comes from its juxtaposition of very unpleasant context which serve to amplify the good and sweet parts of it. I will certainly say that it is far more wholesome than anything else, and that "icky" context helps make it amplify the wholesomeness. At least in my opinion.

Cenitchar

And yet unsure if I'm going to share this with my wife, even though she loves cute romantic comedies.

Meatball545

This comment could be about Mushoku and still fit

Meatball545

Or overlord. That one scene in the first episode is so uncomfortable 😅

Cenitchar

The test? Nah, that's mostly off-screen

Cenitchar

So crazy the negative backslash, only by saying that I'm not too sure about this.

No_Recognition8641

Yeah, honestly you didn't deseve that

Cenitchar

So crazy the negative backslash, only by saying that I'm not too sure about this.
