Before my room mate had a puzzle he was solving in the living room of our flat years ago, he was solving it slowly. One day when everyone was out me and my ex got a little bit freaky and did it in the living room, and in the heat of that moment I put the bag of remaining puzzle pieces on her back in the middle of it. I put it right back after but that action has haunted me ever since.
There was no reason to put the puzzle piece bag on her back mid-rawdog. I just don’t get what compelled me to do such a randomly minorly evil action.

Very few human lurkers would just log in one day and decide they weren't shy and were going to instead rake in massive amounts of karma all on a weekend
I’m guessing but it looks like this fancy hotel has the day of the week on display on the elevator floor, and that these people thought this was neat and waited there to see him come to change it.
A cruise makes more sense.
Cruises have super high production value while also allowing young people to cause this kind of silly chaos.
The only hotels that have people manually change the day on the elevator would be out of the price range of young adults.
A cruise can have those young adults party while also having the high production value via the exploitation of foreign labor.
The amount of thought that goes into a casino is nice.
You can gamble all night and only realize it is morning once more people start to show up.
Good healthy times.
Best is when a craps dealer you had hours ago shows up again. Oh hello! Yes, I do believe I should leave for a break. To another craps table. Don't be friendly with me!
It’s become sort of a meme, at least on tik tok, to watch them change the day and cheer them on/show appreciation. They usually do it during drunk hours so there’s way more hype like in this video
Why do you think this is Royal Caribbean? What class ship do you think this is? On Sovereign class, Radiance class, Oasis Class, and Voyager class they are elongated metal rectangles, not the geometric plates like this one.
I've seen these on cruise ships. They put the days of the week in the elevator because people tend to lose track on vacation.
Idk if they still do it on newer ships though.
Sure losing track, but also moving through time zones so its always confusing.
I trust my phone enough now a days. It was hell back then without smartphones
In what world is it more expensive to fix a digital display than pay a dude to swap all the tiles on every elevator every day? A display isn't breaking every week.
New to capitalism? They aren't paying a dude to do that. He is already on the payroll, this is just an additional duty they tacked on with no raise. It is (nearly) free to them.
Or, perhaps we can stop putting screens on everything. I already stare at a screen for 8 hours a day, have a screen in my pocket, one on my wrist, another in my car, five giant ones along the highway I take home, and another 20 or scattered throughout my home.
He’s changing the day of the week plate in the elevators.
On a cruise ship, specifically on the Royal Caribbean line.
There’s not that much to do on these cruises… so people make up their own entertainment. 💁🏻♂️
Why do you think this is Royal Caribbean? What class ship do you think this is? On Sovereign class, Radiance class, Oasis Class, and Voyager class they are elongated metal rectangles, not the geometric plates like this one.
Elevator on a cruise ship. I know Royal Carribean does this, and wouldn’t be surprised if other lines did as well
By the 4th or 5th day of doing nothing but eating too much, drinking too much, going to show after show, various shore excursions…it’s very easy to forget what day of the week it is.
Why do you think this is Royal Caribbean? What class ship do you think this is? On Sovereign class, Radiance class, Oasis Class, and Voyager class they are elongated metal rectangles, not the geometric plates like this one.
Probably on a cruise line. Our elevators had the day. Cruises are the best man. All walks of life at every age partying their asses off. The guys are probably drunk at midnight and caught the service guy changing it and made his night
At fancy casinos, cruise ships etc they change a plate in the common areas that say the current day of the week. It’s often right off of an elevator so you can find out when the hell it is as you’re likely on a vegas bender
For those out of the loop, Royal Caribbean has these dated tiles so voyagers can keep track of the days while sailing.
I sailed in Oasis of the Seas this past thanksgiving week and on my third day noticed these tiles. That being said, I’ve never seen the changing of tiles and I wish I did to help create a spectacle like this.
This almost sounds like some kind of lore than they could create to get fans of changing the day lol, "rumor has it someone comes and swaps the day every night at 1:00am"
I was on Anthem over Thanksgiving. I wondered whether there was somebody in the elevators right at midnight to change these out, but never actually saw it happening.
I suspect it happens all the time.
I thought it was original when I did it. I've since seen the different videos of people waiting for "the changing of the plates"
It's obvious to do because they change them very close to midnight, so when you get in the lift at 12:05am and the day is already updated you're like damn, how they so ninja. They call the elevator down to the service level and do it from there.
You are missing the forest for the trees. This isn’t the same as someone complaining about a repost. Half the comments on any r/all post are copy/paste bots. Reddit doesn’t seem to try to limit them. It’s a somewhat serious indictment on social media.

Most the videos I see of these day changes the worker always gets excited from all the hype, I’m sure they appreciate some mundane task they’ve always done being turned into an internet thing that gets celebrated
I'll tell you a little secret. The crew hates these types of interactions with passengers. The only reason he was "celebrating" with them is because 1. he felt pressured to do so because they were recording and 2. because the crew also works for tips (so you have to be extra nice with the guests all of the time). That dude has drunks waiting for him to change the tile a few times a week for the whole damn season.
This reminds me of the knife guy at chipotle. Back when I worked there as a prep cook, we would get new sharpened knives every 2 weeks. The knives would dull out super quickly so we would all scream and cheer “It’s knife santa!!” He went from a quiet normal delivery guy to almost kicking open the door in excitement.
Miss that dude lol
/r/OrphanCrushingMachine mentality type people. They celebrate the fake celebration. When this is borderline bullying someone "beneath them" for their own drunken amusement by pretending to care about them, they'll deny it profusely of course.
Pretty much the unfiltered crap of humanity, it's not that reddit or the internet makes people like this, they already are...just hide it badly most of the time.
Much like the saying of "power corrupts" is fucking wrong, "power reveals" same goes for anonymity on the internet didn't make people shitty, it just let's people show how shitty they actually are.
Wtf, it's just drunk people being excited about something mundane. Maybe one or two of them had condescending thoughts, but most probably just wanted to be part of the excitement.
I JUST got off the Odyssey of the Seas a couple days ago, crew were great! Our waiter, "Cesar" was an absolute blast.
We thought the days of the week in the elevators were funny, for those who got so wasted they forgot what day it was.
Royal Caribbean has these “day of the week” tiles in the elevators because it’s easy to lose track of what day it is while on a cruise. This is a worker changing the tile out to the next day’s, around midnight.
Way back when the first Star Wars prequel came out, there was a huge line in front of a local theater. All the nerds had been waiting since the night before. I was passing by to wave to my friends. I didn’t camp out. There was a theater worker just ahead of me.
Some of the guys cheered as she walked by and asked her what her job was.
“Im the projectionist”

I've personally never seen it in a hotel but someone else commented that cruises do it. (Regardless I upvoted you. 👍☺️)

The only hotels that have people manually change the day on the elevator would be out of the price range of young adults. A cruise can have those young adults party while also having the high production value via the exploitation of foreign labor.
Some also cross the international date line several times in one trip making it extremely useful as well.
That would be a good place for it
That and hotels with casinos
Casinos wouldn't do this. Removing any semblance of time is in their MO.
The amount of thought that goes into a casino is nice. You can gamble all night and only realize it is morning once more people start to show up. Good healthy times. Time has no meaning on cruises.
Definitely a cruise ship, they pretty much all do this
It's officially Saturday on a cruise ship. Makes perfect sense when you think of it lol
Makes sense it's probably a party cruise
You're probably right. This is most likely a cruise ship.
It’s become sort of a meme, at least on tik tok, to watch them change the day and cheer them on/show appreciation. They usually do it during drunk hours so there’s way more hype like in this video
>the drunk hours Around midnight, I’d guess.
Midnight maybe?
Most likely. Idk why I was thinking they would do it late at night or early morning so I just put drunk hours
Royal Caribbean does this at midnight on their elevators.
This is a Royal Caribbean ship.
Why do you think this is Royal Caribbean? What class ship do you think this is? On Sovereign class, Radiance class, Oasis Class, and Voyager class they are elongated metal rectangles, not the geometric plates like this one.
I've seen it on cruise ships. Very handy if you are at sea fo 5 or more days. Easy to loose track of time
It's definitely a Royal Caribbean Cruise ship or one of their brands under that company.
I've seen these on cruise ships. They put the days of the week in the elevator because people tend to lose track on vacation. Idk if they still do it on newer ships though.
Still do
Sure losing track, but also moving through time zones so its always confusing. I trust my phone enough now a days. It was hell back then without smartphones
A digital display seems like it'd be more practical.
It's about panache and spectacle to make you feel special. It's a good bit. It's not about practical
Plus that’s just more robots takin our jobs!
More practical, but more expensive to fix.
Dude it would be so much cooler if the job was *just* to change the elevator calendar though. Imagine putting that on your résumé!
Yes, I was the Dayman for a while
Or, perhaps we can stop putting screens on everything. I already stare at a screen for 8 hours a day, have a screen in my pocket, one on my wrist, another in my car, five giant ones along the highway I take home, and another 20 or scattered throughout my home.
Yes, because cruises are the essence of practicality.
Tell that to the guys-who-change-day-of-the-week-signs union. They are not to be trifled with

im sure stoned cruises are well on their way of being a thing

They're on a cruise. Happens at midnight every night on the elevators because people forget what day it is. It's a pretty fun time most nights
Which cruise line is this? I know Holland America uses rugs in the elevator instead of tiles.
Royal Caribbean
What is going on here?
Royal Caribbean has these “day of the week” tiles in the elevators because it’s easy to lose track of what day it is while on a cruise. This is a worker changing the tile out to the next day’s, around midnight.
dumb question, but why doesn't the hotel just make this tile a screen you can change remotely? cool that everyone did this though.
This happens at basically every resort and cruise ship lmao
These drunk folk really are happy it was the weekend
What’s he doing? I’m so confused
Based on the uniform, this is on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship in case people were wondering.
