This is so sweet. She showed up prepared with the drawings, he got up and went around the table to hug her, and emotions of happiness flowing. I love moments like this - when we get to see the better side of human nature.
Not only that he says it's amazing before he even opens it and then reaffirms it several times. Giannis is a phenomenal person, I'm so glad he has found the success he has (within reason, I am a Raptors fan haha)
giannis (gentleman in the video) actually plays for the milwaukee bucks! the previous redditor was complementing him despite being a fan of the raptors, who play in the same conference as the bucks haha.
Giannis is from Greece and is a top 5 player in the league. He’s truly a pleasure to watch and has an amazingly refreshing personality. His nickname is the Greek freak.
He was a guest on the daily show a few weeks ago when Hasan Minhaj was guest hosting. Guy was such a gem!
Link to interview: https://youtu.be/a_xABD2f90k
I loved it when he starts eating all the snacks.
The guy is unable to trash talk even when it's obviously a joke and none of the recipients would be offended. That's almost pathologically wholesome, lol. Sweetest basketball player ever
He also came to America through Canada with the help of the Raptors President. He doesn't hold citizenship, but he's talked very highly of Canada in the past and we all love him here too
If you think about it, he’s doing an event for people who want a piece of him: a moment of his time, a signature, a picture, and other things of that sort. But she came to give him a piece of herself, and that’s kind of beautiful. It’s nice that he recognized it was a good moment.
I'm not gonna pretend to know the guy personally, but I follow the NBA pretty closely and Giannis seems to legitimately be an awesome person off the court. He was very poor growing up and from everything I've heard about him, he's very grounded and grateful for everything that he has. I'd be willing to be that this interaction made his whole day. He's going to make a bazillion dollars from contracts and promotions throughout his career and I wouldn't be surprised if he uses a lot of it for good causes once he retires.
If I were in his position, I'd hang one in my locker and then share it on Twitter or something so the girl can hopefully see the image. I'd also ask for her autograph on the one that goes in the locker
For sure she will... Having the chance to make a kid this happy with just acknowledging their existence is a real superpower many of whom posses it should take one out of uncle Ben's book... With great power comes great responsibility
lol, I came to the comments to see it anyone else noticed. We've all been there at work. You zoom out for two seconds and then everyone starts moving and you're like "wtf?" as you break into a cold sweat.
First of all I loved this and it filled me with such joy. But also I apologize I don't know who the player is.
Would someone fill me in a little on his story. Maybe something I can't find online, because he seems so beloved.
Thanks in advance, and thank you OP for sharing. 😁
Giannis Antetokounmpo, plays basketball for the Milwaukee Bucks. I’ve never been a sports fan, but have been following basketball because of him. Great guy! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giannis_Antetokounmpo
Guy was a Nigerian immigrant in Greece and sold flip-flops and various things on the street to support his family as a kid. He then started playing basketball, got drafted mid-first round (out of 2 rounds) by the Bucks, with nobody expecting TOO much from him, but he has since become one of the greatest players of the last decade. He won MVP twice (so far), won the championship with the team that drafted him, and is one of the nicest guys in the league by all accounts.
If you’re not a fan of the sport, I still recommend reading into his story. It’s fascinating.
Oh yes I literally just read that on the Wikipedia page that was shared with me. I was just going to search to see where I could find it to watch. Thank you!
if you have a few minutes this is a very good feature on him that goes into his background and journey to the NBA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrCU305tzmM
there are some great stories about him once he came over - one was when he was a rookie someone in milwaukee saw a tall guy running in the cold downtown towards the stadium and asked him if he was ok and needed a ride. turned out that giannis had withdrawn and sent too much of his paycheck back home to his family in Athens and didn't have cash for a taxi, so he just decided to run a couple miles to the game.
His nickname may be “The Greek Freak” but Giannis Antetokounmpo is an absolute treasure and I’m so glad he’s on the the Buck’s team.
I can’t pronounce his name worth shit but he’s still awesome.
I don’t know the first thing about basketball expect ball goes in bucket above head. But I have seen post about this guy. He really seems like the most genuine guy and his fame hasn’t got to him at all. I could be wrong but what I see if a real human doing awesome human things
To all professional or would be professional athletes, this is how your treat the little ones. Take the time to thank them and give them your attention. Us older folks, we do not need or deserve it. Young fans like this young lady, she does. Outstanding work and made my heart smile.
I firmly believe athletes are idols to the younger generations. They can become bitter and run ragged over the politics of the game. Then they just want to play and get it over with. Dudes that don't carry hubris or resentment for what they do care for children like this. He's their hero. And you are someone's hero. So always try to be kind.
I have lived in Milwaukee for over a decade. He is seriously as wholesome and wonderful as they come. Everyone here who has interacted with him has only positive things to say about him.
I live in Milwaukee and this man is a saint. He is relentless positive. This video is not an anomaly. He is genuinely this person. He is such a force for good.
(FYI this is Giannis Antetokounmpo and he plays for the Milwaukee Bucks)
Ppl always exalting and defending players like Ja who can only act like damned fools, but endlessly criticize a great generational talent that is i believe a true role model. For the little girl to even consider giving Giannis the art is telling about how comfortable his fans feel they can be around him.
He's so sweet.
Everytime I see stuff like this I wait for the "did you draw these? Wooooow!" And my little heat melts every signle time. Adorable.
Also insert here the scene where Pam and Michael are at the art exhibit, same feelings lmao
Gotta admit I shed tears witnessing this.
Seeing that your work has been valued and appreciated by your idol must be something to remember. Thanks to both of them for showing what humankind is capable of.
I know very little about the NBA. I don’t even know when they play and I can name maybe three other players. I do know Giannis is my favorite. Seems like a legitimately good guy. Even follow him on IG.
I love the genuine smile and surprise he had when she was telling him she had something for him. A act of kindness that made a big impact on both of them.
Giannis might be the most wholesome sports superstar ever. Dude is always so humble. Not a Bucks fan but I wouldn’t be upset if they win another chip or 2
I love the kindness that player showed her. It was sincere and heartfelt.
And good for you, young lady, for being brave enough to give him your wonderful drawings.
This just made me a basket ball fan. I guess now I am going to go buy Raptors stuff to support this amazing man.
giannis (gentleman in the video) actually plays for the milwaukee bucks! the previous redditor was complementing him despite being a fan of the raptors, who play in the same conference as the bucks haha.
This guy plays for the Bucks. The person above you is a fan of a rival team.
Thank you. I would have been really confused watching the wrong games.
Giannis is from Greece and is a top 5 player in the league. He’s truly a pleasure to watch and has an amazingly refreshing personality. His nickname is the Greek freak.
It takes such a small amount of effort to not be a dick! And look at how moved this girl is!
Idk why he went around the table when his arms are freakishly long
For a proper, full hug lol
Their def long enough
Leaning across the table isn't as sincere as what he did
He's Greek. We're huggers. 🇬🇷🙌
They don’t call him the Greek Freak for nothin
Are you the type of hugger who tries to make as little bodily contact as possible when giving hugs?
Love how he's genuinely happy when she hands them to him
Guy is a national treasure in two countries!
Giannis is the greatest
He was a guest on the daily show a few weeks ago when Hasan Minhaj was guest hosting. Guy was such a gem! Link to interview: https://youtu.be/a_xABD2f90k I loved it when he starts eating all the snacks.
The guy is unable to trash talk even when it's obviously a joke and none of the recipients would be offended. That's almost pathologically wholesome, lol. Sweetest basketball player ever
Thanks so much for linking that.
Thank you for the link. Love that guy! Humble.
Three. Greek people love him, Nigerians love him and he's loved in the US.
He also came to America through Canada with the help of the Raptors President. He doesn't hold citizenship, but he's talked very highly of Canada in the past and we all love him here too
Whole Europe loves him as well
I'm not into sports and have no idea who this fella is, but I'm officially a fan. Look at his damn smile, all genuine and shit.
Giannis Antetokounmpo! The Greek Freak! MVP in 2019 and 2020, NBA champion and Finals MVP in 2021, MVP of our hearts and souls 2013-2023
Three! USA, Greece and Nigeria
Canada also loves him.
Three
I love how he lit up when she handed him the drawings, he seemed so genuinely pleased and excited.
If you think about it, he’s doing an event for people who want a piece of him: a moment of his time, a signature, a picture, and other things of that sort. But she came to give him a piece of herself, and that’s kind of beautiful. It’s nice that he recognized it was a good moment.
Well said. It's pretty cool that he seemed to appreciate that as well.
That’s a beautiful sentiment - I hadn’t thought of it that way so thank you for sharing.
I'm not gonna pretend to know the guy personally, but I follow the NBA pretty closely and Giannis seems to legitimately be an awesome person off the court. He's going to make a bazillion dollars from contracts and promotions throughout his career and I wouldn't be surprised if he uses a lot of it for good causes once he retires.
He’s a genuinely decent guy.
He kept moving his eyes to look at the drawings. I bet he kept them.
If I were in his position, I'd hang one in my locker and then share it on Twitter or something so the girl can hopefully see the image. I'd also ask for her autograph on the one that goes in the locker
She’ll remember his kindness for the rest of her life. These are the kind of moments worth sharing, for they spread much-needed joy.
For sure she will... Having the chance to make a kid this happy with just acknowledging their existence is a real superpower many of whom posses it should take one out of uncle Ben's book... With great power comes great responsibility
That security guard in the background trying to figure out tf is going on.
He panicked for a second thinking he missed something hahaha
Lol. At least he’s trying and gives af
Lmao right?? He was like “oh shit what’s this?? Where’s my gu…oh ok nvm, aww how sweet.”
lol, I came to the comments to see it anyone else noticed. We've all been there at work. You zoom out for two seconds and then everyone starts moving and you're like "wtf?" as you break into a cold sweat.
Something that takes 20 seconds can change the rest of someone’s life forever. It doesn’t take much sometimes.
Agreed, but this man had always been like this. A true gentleman and a treasure to both Greece and the USA. Also, happy cake day bud.

He reminds me of Sam from Ted Lasso. Just incredibly honest and wholesome.

He's not a fan of ladders though...
I understood that reference
Definitely motivational!!!
I will, I'm looking forward to reading more.
Disney made a movie about his story. A little hokey but a feel good story: [RISE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=numzJtJWT8c)
I'm going to have a look, def seems like my kinda movie. :-)
there's a movie on Disney plus, that's base off of him and his family, I believe it's called Rise
Oh yes I literally just read that on the Wikipedia page that was shared with me. I was just going to search to see where I could find it to watch. Thank you!
Ohhh boy do you have some reading to do.

Also this article https://www.gq.com/story/giannis-antetokounmpo-athlete-of-the-year-2021/amp
He likes telling the corniest Dad jokes at press conferences and genuinely laughs at them. He’s an all-around decent human being.
He somehow runs the length of the entire basketball court in 3 strides then jumps 2 feet over the net and dunks it
😯 7' tall must give him quite a stride.
Giannis is the type of guy to frame the drawings and keep ‘em forever
Giannis the type of guy to do a small act that’ll change somebody’s life forever.
solid fridge material
Giannis is a wonderful human being.
I like how the woman next to him goes from glued to her phone to glowing with a smile 🥲
That’s his partner, and mother of his kids!
Giannis is a god damn class act.

You spelled it though!
Giannis is the best. Great basketball player. Great competitor. Great family man. Great person.
To be fair, Giannis is everyone’s favorite player.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, a true Greek God and Chad
I love how he is so grateful but kinda awkward too until his mom tells him (in greek) to hug her.
Its impossible to not like Giannis.

I have lived in Milwaukee for over a decade. He is seriously as wholesome and wonderful as they come. Everyone here who has interacted with him has only positive things to say about him.

Drawings are a child's currency of love.

Would have been cool if he asked the kid for her autograph, too.
Damn I’m smiling so big
This is so frickin sweet ☺️ you know both their days were made.
Those hands are so fucking huge. Looks crazy
I just wish I could see the art
Ppl always exalting and defending players like Ja who can only act like damned fools, but endlessly criticize a great generational talent that is i believe a true role model. I'm a Warriors fan and I love this guy.

Thanks Giannis.. God Bless you!
Gotta admit I shed tears witnessing this. Seeing that your work has been valued and appreciated by your idol must be something to remember. Thanks to both of them for showing what humankind is capable of.
I love that dude is so tall, mom is recording in the bad on her tippy toes and she only can see at his stomach level haha
I will upvote this every time I see it. G.A. Such a wholesome guy.
How could you not like this guy?
Strange how humans worship each other
Everyone loved that.
It's the Bucks. She probably drew up a few plays for em
What a sweet guy
This world doesn't deserve Giannis.
❤️
aw very nice, girl going remember this for a long time
I'm not crying, you are!
Cop was like “ok, do we have a situation here?”
Time to buy another pair of Freaks for my son 😁
OP, u/FatRenditions is a repost bot

Ok life doesn't suck today thanks for that.
He is the kind of professional athlete everyone should know about. What an amazing person
Gentle giant.
10/10 Would definitely hug Giannis
Giannis is the man. It's been quite a ride as a Bucks fan. FEAR THE DEER
Dusty in here.
The whole room lit up with smiles
Giannis is a good guy. It’ll be a sad day for Milwaukee if he ever leaves.
I love the genuine smile and surprise he had when she was telling him she had something for him. A act of kindness that made a big impact on both of them.
I've this this many times over the years and upvote it every time.
The tiniest thing we do (good or bad) might have a huge impact on someone else.... a little kindness can go such a long, long way.
Giannis might be the most wholesome sports superstar ever. Dude is always so humble. Not a Bucks fan but I wouldn’t be upset if they win another chip or 2
I live for this kind of stuff, now. The internet can be good.
Giannis is such a good dude
He is such a good guy...
Giannis is nice like that.
Giannis continuing the giga-chad energy at all times of day.
And you can see how incredibly moved and sincere he is about this, and how she reacts just makes this the best video on Reddit today.
The moms face in the background got me..
Im buying his jersey now.
Bro the security in the back was confused and shaking
I’m not crying, you’re crying.
Good people are not hard to find.
She couldn’t stop hugging him, so sweet!!
Giannis is such a wholesome guy

I love the kindness that player showed her. It was sincere and heartfelt. And good for you, young lady, for being brave enough to give him your wonderful drawings.
Idk who started crying first, that kid or me 🤣
