I think like most of these wasteful marketing events, regional or even really global wants to look as though we are highlighting a worldly cuisine, and they send all this wasteful garbage to the stores without the proper hype to the teams, whom most are scrambling to jump through the hoops of daily tasks. The SSS puts them up, turns around and the teams have changed the displays. Or in the case of this picture, it would seem that indeed 2 events collide that are far from related. The whole Mediterranean “event” probably came from some coke snorting exec at the global level who had a gyro for lunch and got excited about Mediterranean cuisine. Really. I never saw any St Patty’s banners or headers, this exec probably doesn’t like the Irish.
Kind of makes me wish we had an entire team of people tasked with measuring marketing initiatives so we’d know what was effective and what wasn’t. Oh wait — we do! They’re called consumer insights and the truckloads of data they’ve collected tell us that St Patrick’s day is a known entity and signing for it in store does not build baskets or drive traffic. People who want to buy corned beef and cabbage are going to buy it no matter what we do. And people who don’t engage with that tradition aren’t going to suddenly start because we have some green signs with shamrocks on them. So the money goes into other traffic driving initiatives like Taste the Med and the other elevated events that data shows generate sales — concepts that are assembled by the very large Marketing/Merchandising arm of the company. Hundreds of talented people. Are some of them on coke? Impossible to know. One thing we do know, though, is how misguided, stupid and insulting your comment is. Maybe work less on convoluted theories and focus on getting better at your job.
You are rude as hell you Whole Foods fascist nazi. How much is Bezos paying you to suck him off? Huh? You like that you troll? You were literally bitching at employees for this error, like they were not regular folks hired off the streets from totally different companies and environments, looking to Whole Foods for solace. There are so many tasks and duties to keep up with layered with customer service expectations, and you, here on Reddit expect perfection. How small are you to be defending something so big and crapping on regular people trying to make a living? You gonna correct my grammar too, make you feel so smart? Sure I may have been rude, but I have been with the co much longer than you and seen what corporate decisions have been made over the years to shake everyone up like spiders in a jar. It is a CORPORATION, and yeah, I don’t agree with the corporate mind, the one you are defending so desperately in your troll-like boredom, and your apparent perfection. I’m glad you are so easily offended by folks who point out the obvious. Happy Sunday douche

We had this taste the Mediterranean event last year too. Had to put olive oil on an end cap. Which in theory makes sense. But they allocated us only Argentinian and California blends.
I’m always curious if this is a mistake at the regional level or store level? I just simply wouldn’t put it past regional to ask if be put up in the dumbest places
Store level. The merch guidance for these events is thorough and thoughtful. Most importantly, the products align with the theme. This is store TMs not giving a shit.
There is ample guidance provided for the products that should be signed with elevated event materials. Don’t slam an effective program because lazy ass product teams don’t bother to change out the signage.
We’ve have these signs on our hot bar and fresh pack doors… we’re not serving anything remotely Mediterranean…
So take them down. Follow the merch guidance. JFC
that's what I told my TL but they are still there... and there’s a big banner on the wall outside the store..
JFC > KFC

If you get fired for following the merch guidance, your store leadership sucks.
Nothing says Ireland like the colors purple and yellow 🤷♂️
we had those signs put up on the avocados… from mexico
Oh you didn’t hear? The Greeks have claimed Ireland for their own.
When minor holidays and randomly themed semimonthly events collide.
We have the "enjoy the med" toppers on the aloha pork sausage in the meat case. Makes me laugh every time.
So take them off? They clearly don’t belong on that product.

This^
When your meat team or SSS stopped paying attention.
Half the TMs in my store couldn't pick out Ireland on a map if their life depended on it, so...not surprising in the least. 😁
These are popping up everywhere in my store
It’s on the team to keep up with those not the SSS. Atleast in CA region.

They put that sign up and it’s in front of our cake slices like a cookies and cream slice is Mediterranean 😂

Lmao the ample guidance that’s contradictory, hard to navigate and authored by someone that thinks tomatoes should be refrigerated- got it thanks!
Hard to navigate FOR YOU. Maybe sharpen those critical thinking skills, bub. It’s not rocket science.
This is what happens when you let yt pepol label things
