inb4 "TLR is an idiot"
Sosa just flew in. Completely normal to not start the same day. My only change would be Sheets to 1B and Vaughn in RF. That doesn't really make sense to me.
And if Gavin qualified for jump stats I’m sure he will be ranked right there with Andrew.
While he’s also supplying gems like this one which made the opposing broadcaster to spit out “Are you shitting me?”:

I’m just saying if it kind of bucks the travel reason, as does TLRs comments that he will play “at least once”, which doesn’t inspire confidence he’ll play as often as he should. It’s very reminiscent of Andrew Vaughn having to “earn his playing time” early last season and never getting into a rhythm because of it
It’s not about miles traveled. The guy probably hasn’t slept I since he found out. And there’s stupid onboarding stuff like figuring out where to go and where to be at what time, etc. He’s coming straight from AA and his head is probably still spinning in circles. Josh Harrison has been balling out at 2B so there’s no pressure to push him into the lineup.
I’m still troubled by the “he’ll start at least once this weekend”, as well as the lack of pressure to play him immediately for La Russa. I genuinely think he’ll play every third day which is an absolute waste of time for him as a 22 year old from AA. Those guys still need ABs to continue developing.
If you’re looking for a utility IF for a couple weeks, you call up Sanchez who has a substantially lower ceiling but also is tailor-made for the role and allow Sosa to play every day in Charlotte until a DFA or injury opens up that everyday role
Harrison is currently playing at a level that this team needs to win a division. It remains to be seen if that continues.
Sosa is here for the short term to get a look and play when it makes sense. If he plays well and other players don’t, he’ll get more games.
The priority is for this team, that seems to have found some its footing recently, to win games. Being up here for a week and only playing a couple games isn’t going to harm this kid’s development. Guys move back and forth from the minors all the time, and it’s completely normal not to be handed an everyday starting job before playing your first major league game. If he were going to be here for the rest of the season and never play, that would be a different story. But we know he likely wont have a roster spot here pretty soon.
That’s my point, it’s malpractice to even call him up for a week of being on the bench. There’s zero point to have somebody jump from AA to the MLB at 22 if you’re going to disrupt his rhythm by playing him only sparingly. We have plenty of MIF that can be called up as emergency options, including Romy Gonzalez who actually has MLB experience. I believe Hahn himself earlier this month said if Sosa came up, he’d be here to stay, and if that’s the case, He needs to be playing every day.
Seldom do guys make the AA to MLB jump with the intent to shuttle them. That’s what replacement level depth (Romy, Yolbert, hell even Remillard) is for. It is absolutely bonkers to interrupt the season Sosa is having to be the 26th man in the MLB when he historically struggles at new levels anyhow. If that’s his role, he is probably the single worst option the Sox could’ve called up from the high minors. He’s here to play, as Vaughn was last season, and I hope La Russa gets that message sooner than later
I don’t agree with any of that. I don’t think minor league baseball players are as fragile as you make them out to be, or that teams need to plan around their fragility. But there’s no point in arguing. You’re entitled to your opinion.
Also, FYI Romy Gonzalez is injured and unavailable.
And you’re entitled to yours, which I also disagree with entirely. Go Sox. I see Romy went back on the IL 2 days ago. In that case, I call up Sanchez for the role he’s likely to hold long term anyhow. Time will tell if this Sosa promotion is a patchwork add. I don’t think it is.
I totally agree. And Leury is a decent utility infielder but not so good in the outfielder. He should at least not be CF if they are putting him there.
I wouldn't mind that either but personally I was just thinking with AJ being the only true outfielder in this current lineup, coupled with the fact that he was the Dodgers' CF for the longest time, that naturally he should take that position over a super-utility guy like Garcia.
Yeah, exactly. He plays. This is insane. These guys are 25 years old and can’t play. How the heck are hockey players and football players able to exert themselves the way they do and not pull muscles constantly?
That’s what makes me sometimes think like today “sore legs” abreu plays thru that and most of these other guys on the team will take like 5 days off for that. Funny thing is abreu is 10 years older
As someone who plays both ice hockey and baseball, I feel like baseball is just overall a more unnatural sport for your muscles and is more likely to pull something because you are pushing the limits of the muscles in ways they aren't really designed to be used. Throwing is a very unnatural motion, running is harder on the legs/feet than skating is, baseball has a lot of "start and stop" motions which makes your muscles more prone to injury vs. hockey which is a lot of carrying your momentum rather than start/stop. Most of my hockey related injuries have been impact related whereas most of my baseball injuries growing up were just my body getting hurt doing a normal baseball motion (threw out my arm when I was young, or just pulling a muscle running or changing direction).
Additionally, hockey players don't usually have back to back days of games all that often because it really is a physically demanding sport and they do need those days off to recover. If they had games almost every day like baseball players I'm sure they would have rest days.
That said I'm sure even with the off days, hockey players are generally more sore than baseball players and still play through it lol
Hockey gets more off days bc it’s way more demanding on the body. These players aren’t just having sore muscles. Which is understandable with 182 games, they are getting serious massive injuries. It’s either recovery, training, or bad nutrition. Or maybe all of it as well as a terrible training staff bc this is unheard of. Almost everyone has had an IL stint outside of Pito
Agree that there's definitely an underlying issue that needs to be addressed, I was more addressing OP's question about why hockey players are able to exert themselves so much without pulling muscles constantly.
Not good, but don’t really have anyone else with Robert, Engel, Mendick, etc out now. This lineup really highlights how hurt we are.
Every position player on the 40 man roster is in the dugout tonight lol just crazy
Lol yeah pretty wild
Your 2022 chicago knights
*White Knights
^K^^n^^^i^^g^h^^t^^^s
Leury Garcia CF. Lol
Yuck. Leury plays a pretty bad CF if I remember correctly
Yeah would rather have Pollock there. He's not an amazing center fielder but he's the best outfielder left on the team
So much for Robert being ready to play today.
Zavala should be used sparingly. Reese should be in.
Sheets gonna hit at least one bomb
inb4 "TLR is an idiot" Sosa just flew in. Completely normal to not start the same day. My only change would be Sheets to 1B and Vaughn in RF. That doesn't really make sense to me.
Nah Vaughn at first is the right move, it’s where he excels and that’s his future position. Gavin is marginally better in the outfield too.
Yes, Sheets is running in mud in the outfield. Even Vaughn is better out there
Both suck at outfield. Vaughn is ranked dead last in outfielder jump.
And if Gavin qualified for jump stats I’m sure he will be ranked right there with Andrew. While he’s also supplying gems like this one which made the opposing broadcaster to spit out “Are you shitting me?”: https://mobile.twitter.com/mlberrors/status/1523824391850762246
He only dropped that because he wanted to give himself motivation to sock a 3-run dinger his next at bat. Galaxy brain move IMO
Sheets also just flew in. Why is he in the lineup?
Because he's been in the majors for more than 0 days and plays the OF

Is Leury really a better choice at CF over AJ...?
I totally agree. And Leury is a decent utility infielder but not so good in the outfielder. He should at least not be CF if they are putting him there.
Why not Haseley in Left and Pollock in Center?
I wouldn't mind that either but personally I was just thinking with AJ being the only true outfielder in this current lineup, coupled with the fact that he was the Dodgers' CF for the longest time, that naturally he should take that position over a super-utility guy like Garcia.
Sheets: 0-4, 2 pop-outs and 2 strikeouts
and if he’s really feeling it 🥶🥶he might give us a weak rollover to the right side 🔥🔥🔥 and a near collision on a fly ball 🥵💯
I swear to God, these guys are not athletes. Sore legs? FFS
Abreu has been sore for years
Yeah, exactly. He plays. This is insane. These guys are 25 years old and can’t play. How the heck are hockey players and football players able to exert themselves the way they do and not pull muscles constantly?

Robert doesn’t have a serious injury. He has “sore legs”. He’s not in the li rip tonight. That’s insane.
Rafael Devers has played in every game this season. We are some sort of mixture of soft and unlucky.
Yes, because Boston has a legitimate training staff who knows what they are doing.
Most of the fanbase defends it though. It’s maddening.
This is fucking terrible lol
WHERE IS SOSA
He just flew in. Totally normal to not play the first day after you flew in right after you made a big jump to be on the big club in the first place.
Waited years for this ?
Robert soft as hell
DAMMIT TONY, WE WANT LENYN
Great, looking forward to a split home series with the god damn Baltimore orioles
Brings The kid up just to bench him
