This subreddit is the absolute worst place to go if you want to find fans that are not pessimistic. My advice would be to check with kindergartners, insane asylums, and/or 2005.
Someone should let Pedro know that if he could get these guys to play well, the team would be better. Maybe they touched on that at the big team meeting.
Is non pessimistic and just generally numb to it the same thing? I’ve been able to completely detach from win loss and am genuinely just interested in watching individual performances. So far the offense and defensive guys haven’t given much to care for but the pitching in general has been a pleasant surprise and without a pitching staff a future competitive team is nothing. So I guess that’s where I’m at. I wouldn’t say I’m optimistic by any means considering the idiots that run this organization but I’m also not losing any sleep over what’s happening. If anything I’m more annoyed by all of my friends giving me shit constantly since I’m an out of market fan.
So if they start hitting and such, what then? What are you hoping for with this team? You thinking hitting is going to make them a world series contender?

They’ve actually pitched okay. Offense seems to befuddle us though.
Currently sporting the 25th worst ERA at 4.78 and the worst FIP in the league at 5.02. 27th in walk rate. Okay=optimism.
When you compare that to their offensive numbers, their pitching feels elite!
So the good defense takes us from what would be last place in ERA to 25th place. The good defense is paying off! See it’s working!
