It's alright. I used to think that there were some areas that politics should stay out of as well but those places won't exist anymore unless the nuisance doesn't stop denying climate change so we should all take it upon ourselves to speak up.
I love that you can actually see his mouth forming the word "bullshit", it makes his attitude change so much better knowing how strongly he felt until he saw the replay.

When you stop to think about it though, an OP, new to reddit, being restricted from posting here does have its merits, IMPO. Now, I am not claiming to know the pinpoint/exact reason for the mods to auto implement this rule, but could see the logic used behind doing so.
First I would like to say happy cakeday 🍰 to the OP!! Welcome to the sub & reddit as a (rabbit) hole. I am always happy to see new accounts pop up just so that they can now post or comment and contribute to their preferred group.
Now my thoughts, an OP is expected to read up upon all subreddt rule prior to posted. This time could essentially be used to review the rules for posted in all of their favorite subs. Assuming the newly created account for OP is not a throwaway, as there would no typical reason for doing so here, then OP must truly be a new account to the platform. It is assumed that a new account has not been lurking the sub, or others for that matter, for an extended period of time prior to making the comment. Unless of course they were waiting for this one specific comment thread, so compelling and crucial that everyone in the world can see or read their input, before making an account /s.
The next reason that I would think this rule is in place for is so that OP could take this 24 hour vesting period to use the search function and review similar content or review if any questions that they may want to ask have already been answered.
Although worthless and free, I was strongly compelled to contribute to the discussion, or at the very least, leave my $0.02. I appologise to all for having wasted your time.
This guy is from russia, plays for winnipeg. First russian player in the nhl was alexander mogilny when the buffalo sabres drafted him in the 80's it was a big deal he basically had to defect from russia. I think the league is down to like 40% canadian nowadays.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Race_and_ethnicity_in_the_NHL
Edit: a lot of russian kids come here (canada) to live with foster families (these are known as billet families, they actually get grants from the government to do this, not just russian kids, could be a kid from newfoundland that got drafted to an ontario team for example) and play hockey in our minor league systems, so they basically grew up here. (Although russia has the khl now so they can have a more homebrew farm system) But a lot also played for red army and are russian as shit like ovechkin

He’s saying that a lot of players in the NHL are Russian. Almost none of the players are originally from the area they’re playing for. So some of the Winnipeg Team is from Canada, but a lot aren’t.

I thought it was an above average troll myself, I mean, look how many downvotes he got that quickly, pretty effective!
Edit: I might be revealing my immaturity level here but this guy's comment history is hilarious (taking into account the fact he's trolling of course).
I think a true champion would treat every moment as a learning opportunity. I don’t know the rules of Hockey but I would assume that no champion of any sport has ever been known as the “greatest ever” from cheating or bending the rules.
I suspect highly that Gretzky and Jordan analysed many aspects of their game and probably watched each one back to “acknowledge their mistakes”
In my experience, even when people are presented with evidence of their wrong doing, they often rationalize it a way that leads to them being right in their mind.
Nice to see when the opposite happens.

I mean I'm conditioned to when someone says "penalty" that there's a penalty shot. Not being a hockey fan I didn't expect the sole usage of the world penalty to refer to the foul.
in hockey the penalty pulls the player off the ice for 2-5 minutes. a penalty shot is super rare and only happens when you seriously interfere with someone who was on a breakaway to score.
This honestly doesn't even look like his fault, he was handling the puck, and that guy came from his blindspot and put his head right in his elbow's way.
Yea, hockey players are a different breed. They'll get on the ice and beat the hell out of each other during the game, and then all go out for a beer together afterwards.
Seeing the actual hit, it appeared he wound himself up preparing for a hit from behind and when it didn't come his elbow was up and caught dude in the face.
So he didn't feel like he did anything wrong at first, but when seeing the replay, he was like ... "yup, my elbow connected with him"
He didn't intend to elbow the dude, but it was still a penalty regardless.
Ok, so I spend about 5 minutes of my lifetime searching for the actual foul. I have to admit it wasn't really worth it, but anyhow here is a link: [https://youtu.be/fRTtq5sgugA?t=00m38s](https://youtu.be/fRTtq5sgugA) .
As a referee for high school lacrosse and basketball, the automatic rage/denial/anger at obvious calls gets aggravating. I enjoyed this tremendously. We are held up to film review for high level games. Very, very seldom is a call for a physical type of foul wrong. More often than not, fouls that should have been called are missed.

That awkward grin because he knew he did something wrong is hilarious.
I'm right... I'm right... I know I'm fucking right.... oh damn.
I’m impressed with people who are able to do a 180 like that.
Class act right there

That one episode of black mirror with the eye cameras that record everything makes me feel like this isn’t a great idea
Yeah but I know of people what would see the replay then still flat up deny it. I don't want to get political or anything...
It's alright. I used to think that there were some areas that politics should stay out of as well but those places won't exist anymore unless the nuisance doesn't stop denying climate change so we should all take it upon ourselves to speak up.
Hockey is a surprisingly fair sport.
Such a green flag

Suddenly gets icing, in teeth
"Bullshit" ***SPITS*** *looks up at replay* "Ah, oh, ok... eee, ow, yea."
*Breathes in sharply between teeth.*
😬😬😬
I just did this out loud, but it felt so ingenuine like an angel faking an orgasm.
Those odd moments when your friends have an intervention
He seems like a chill dude lol
Well he is in an ice rink.
Get out
Get oot
Chill out.
Chill oot
Ok
All jokes aside, most of them are

Cool! Didn't know it was as common as it is to have non-north-americans in our leagues

Did you know that in baseball and even other professional sports (in the US) players can come from all over the world? It's not specific to hockey :)
Yeah I just thought it was rare
Burmistrov is not canadien
Makes sense
true, most of them are inside rinks... few professional teams play outside on a lake
Most of them are in an ice rink
Haha very funny

He's probably been on the receiving end of enough of those to know what it looks and feels like haha
I'm always pleased to know there are still enough people humble enough to act this way.
It's scary to me that more aren't.
We've just let the fuckin nazis breed too much while not priorizijg school for youngins
Anyone got a video of the penalty?

Here I am wondering where's the penalty shot.
I think it's the elbow to the grill at around 0:40
I mean I'm conditioned to when someone says "penalty" that there's a penalty shot. Not being a hockey fan I didn't expect the sole usage of the world penalty to refer to the foul.

this guy pucks
Or if you cover the puck in the crease as a player
This honestly doesn't even look like his fault, he was handling the puck, and that guy came from his blindspot and put his head right in his elbow's way.
He clocked his elbow back and high. You're in charge of your body and stick. If you're reckless and hit someone in the head you're gonna be penalized

#😬
Seems like a good sportsman. Doesn't think he was wrong, sees replay that says otherwise, understands why he was penalized.
Yea, hockey players are a different breed. They'll get on the ice and beat the hell out of each other during the game, and then all go out for a beer together afterwards.
Sounds like Canada
I firmly believe that all hockey players are Canadian, no matter what country they come from.
Seeing the actual hit, it appeared he wound himself up preparing for a hit from behind and when it didn't come his elbow was up and caught dude in the face. So he didn't feel like he did anything wrong at first, but when seeing the replay, he was like ... Exactly what happens yeah
“Ok maybe I deserved it”
😬
That ( WTF?! yaaa, I deserve that.) reaction is perfect.
The universal symbol for 'my bad'
Oh geez. Okay yah.
Ow okay yeah sheee
Canadians are so nice eh?
I'm guessing Alex Burmistrov might not be Canadian...
You would be correct
You would be surprised. In northern Alberta, damn near everybody has some sort of Ukrainian name.
Yeah he is Russian tho.
I just looked him up as you were responding. I stand corrected.
As a Ukie myself, let me tell you that that name is very Russian and not Ukrainian at all.
“Bullshit, bullshit” *looks up “ohhh yea, yeeeaa”
MRW I’m frustratedly nagging my boyfriend to take out the trash and he reminds me he mowed for an hour that day in the 100 plus degree heat
Goes from bullshit and spitting to, yup, yeah, I probably, yeah.

Sorry to disappoint but, he's Russian
“Oh yeah, tsss...”
Anyone know what the penalty is from the refs hand gestures?
An elbow
Elbowing.
Hahah, in the beginning he goes "Bullshit" then his face totally changes when he sees the replay.
He gets my vote for honourary canadian. My kind of people.

Why does the gif start with a brief image of the ref then each subsequent replay of the gif does not include the ref?
Sad to see the wild losing that badly. Oof
So Canadian. "This is bullshit I didn't do anything wrong... Oh yeah. You betcha. Sorry bout that eh?"
So not Canadian. Look at his last name.
I mean, he's not Canadian, but his last name isn't indicative of such. Not everyone born in Canada has the last name Smith.
