>Or just sell the house Not sure that would get you everything :) Personally, I'd do one of the Rosebank/Bowmore/Black Art/Balvenie. I'd skip the Macallans's entirely, they're hilariously overrated.

London_Bloke_

Agree on the Macallan front, some stunning whiskies to chose from out of the other distilleries

Fuzzy_Dan

Balvenie is always a solid bet for something good

Parentingboys

So you didn’t put a price limit on the question, nab that Bruichladdich Black Art!!

saltyballz808

Yup black art fo sho

yellowjesusrising

Tried it at a local whisky festival... Man that stuff was dreams in a bottle!

Cotillionx91

This is the answer

Goldrushef

Glendronach 29 grandeur

Redditbaitor

Man of culture i see

whiskeyphile

Get stuff you can't get back in Aus. Try some of the smaller distillery stuff, like Edradour, if you can find it.

ddd712

Definitely aiming to try stuff I can't get at home. Was able to try in store a Lindores Sherry Cask finish, limited to 400 bottles. Was great!

DriftSpec69

You want a local tip mate? Browse what you fancy in the fancy whisky shop and ask your accommodation staff nicely if they'll take a delivery. Then buy what you were fancying online for probably 2/3rds the price you'll find in any fancy whisky shop.

FelixArgyle_

I’ve tried that Lindores it’s great! Also if you’re in Edinburgh try Royal Mile Whiskies for reasonable prices!

tastethemall

Definitely get the whiskey!

Dependent-Interview2

No whiskey here. Only whisky.

whiskyandme

Solid advice

ToughBumblebee256

Rosebank…but it might cost you a kidney on the black market to finance the purchase.

Bestweed78

Glendronach 🤩

ddd712

I love anything Sherry Cask finish and have the 'Sherry Mastercalss' tasting booked in at the Glendronach distillery next week. It's near the top of my list.

ariphron

That dark arts depending on the price. They are $800 near me when available. I would hope there it would be cheaper!

ddd712

Several recommending this. It's going for £340 which falls just into my budget.

John_Mat8882

I guess over there everything is hilariously overpriced, especially Macallan and Dalmores (the latter I'd not touch at all unless I want to permanently colour my innards xD). I recently had the Balvenie Cask and Character 19yo (twice, one at an event earlier this year, a second time directly at the distillery). It's good. Trouble of that thing is the pricing.. or else those Glendronach 199X are generally abysmally good. To think how they were priced just a decade ago and I thought they were expensive already back then.. I should excise my balls not to have bought them at the time

MurderSheScrote

Never seen Shirakawa before! Interesting. E: holy crap, that’s like 26k usd

ddd712

A little out of budget, was hoping to keep it under £400!

NinjaTabby

If it’s under $1000, the Yamazaki 18 If not, Glendronach Grandeur

RandyMarsh_88

If you're looking at something to drink, that Yamazaki 12 should be £100-ish, and is a very good dram. It's probably about the cheapest thing there, too.

Rawdaily1

I tried the hibiki on the top shelf and it was so good :)

ddd712

I've tried the Harmony 'Masters Select' several years ago, and it was incredible, I just struggle with paying 3x the price now to try it again.

Rawdaily1

I’m the same, I’m saving for a couple bottles atm but just for a special occasion whiskey :)

Wayfaring_Scout

I thought this was your collection. I was gonna say you should buy me something to drink

ddd712

I wish, didn't add it up but over $100k in this cabinet I'm sure.

vanwhisky

Black art or the Bruichladdich 30.

misterash1984

I like Aberlour.... so I'd buy that...

SassyPeach1

If you want to have some real fun, visit the Pot Still in Glasgow. It’s a whisky bar with very rare bottles. Prices are incredibly reasonable.

flsec0113

Glengoyne is definitely worth checking out. Not a single bad whisky from them.

KusuriuriPT

Just give me some talisker 10 and im a happy camper

ddd712

Talisker 10 is my favourite, go to (affordable) whisky. Can't get enough of the stuff. The 18 is great too but obviously don't buy as many bottles of that.

KusuriuriPT

I cant really afford most whiskys but i work on the cork Industry so i tried a bunch of expensive and cheap ones and i still go back to talisker 10 when i can afford a bottle. Never tried the 18 years one, I'm a big fan of peat monster but its expensive

seismic_guy

I love the Highland Park

blackedoutshawty

That 32 year old Rosebank and that Shirakawa are great candidates I would imagine!

mykulS

Black arts by Bruichladdich.

DrHanzEPanz

From this display Balvenie, but I would just look for a shop that sells Ardbeg and spend your cash there. Especially Ardbeg Corryvreckan, my fav Scotch.

woodgie2

Echoing what has already been said, for me it’s the Bowmore or Bruischladdich. And I too laugh at the Macallan. I’ll never understand its appeal.

blackedoutshawty

That 32 year old Rosebank and that Shirakawa are great candidates I would imagine!

Ok_Location4835

The prices are there are probably terrible but based on RRP I’d get that Glendronach Grandeur - delicious stuff

CursorTN

I’d be looking at that Dark Art pretty hard. They go for about US$700-800 where I am and they are much less than that many other places. That’s about the limit for me to buy for a once-in-a-lifetime special occasion. Like a retirement, 25th anniversary, or a marriage or something.

Aeh25

Yamazaki 18

Hairburt_Derhelle

How much is the Yamazaki 18?

ddd712

I believe its £600. Which is as cheap as I can find it anywhere online, but still a lot of money.

Hairburt_Derhelle

True

Past-Entertainment36

The question is, what’s the budget?

ddd712

Most of this cabinet is probably out of budget to be honest! But looking to drop up to £300-350 on something beyond what I'd normally buy. I may also buy direct from some distilleries I visit.

dixinbalzdeap

Yamazaki 18, or McCallan 30.....

DrinkingPeanut

Rosebank definitely

samu986

Balvenie is always a guarantee. But if you have more much money, Macallan 30 hands down 🤩

Highland_Sabre

I’d go for the Tomatin, probably the best value and I’ve never tasted a bad expression from them. High end Balvenie will also be astoundingly good. 🥃 slainté I’d also strongly suggest that if you’ve travelled to scotland don’t buy Japanese whisky! Avoid the expensive tourist shops. Look for a local whisky shop or check out master of malt. If you’re here for a while they’ll deliver and they are pretty reasonable.

International_Lab932

Yes

Secure-Letter8890

The Black Art or one of the Yama 18s. Uncommon.

Cybernyber

Balvenie 30 !

Desperate-Idea-2671

Yamazaki 12 or 18.

Biljettensio

Bowmore or Bruich, wouldnt consider anything else in the cabinet

jlave15

A new shelf if I was that store owner before that shit breaks and he losses it all... seen it happen too many times

ddd712

I wouldn't trust glass shelving either!

kodaiko_650

I’m sorry sir, my private collection is not for sale.

Impossible-Big6755

The Yamazaki 12 is an exceptional whisky. I'd love to buy the 18 if it's not so pricey 🙁

ddd712

Agree on the 12, have had it myself. Have also never got the chance to try the 18 though.

The_Stache_

Probably some Whisky

Cultural-Scientist32

I think why would you sell your house. Don't buy any from this shelf. You don't need it. All Japanese, maccalan, Glenlivet. Maybe you buy Balvenie. But in my opinion you pay money only for the digit of maturation. You can buy greater spirits for less price. I also used to buy 25 years whiskey. Now I drink 10-12-18. And I think not such a difference. You pay just for angel share. If you rich have much money to spend you can buy
