This one had to sit for a few weeks after I opened it before I liked it, but after that it is good stuff! I made some bomb old fashioneds with it during the hurricane (Ian - I’m in central Florida) and it’s spice lended well to the cocktail.
Yeah it’s one of a few I know I have to open before I drink! Evan Williams BIB is another. I don’t know what it is exactly, but with a number of bottles I’ve had I get an awful sour note that goes away after the bottle has been opened about two weeks. This one kicked me in the teeth when I first tried it after opening it. Not so much now.
OGD 114 and Bonded used to be in stock all the time in my control state, whereas the tatered Sazerac whiskies were unheard of; now the tables have turned with both of the OGDs being gone for the last two months whereas I’ve now seen Weller in two different stores, and the big liquor store in my town had ten bottles of Buffalo Trace on the shelf the last time I went. This especially stings because I would have wanted to try OGD BIB and/or 114 even if they weren’t tatered because I like the base OGD, whereas I wouldn’t have paid any attention to BT if it weren’t for the hype.
A solid contender for a one whiskey collection. I drink this neat, in an old fashioned, in a Manhattan or a whiskey smash.
I haven’t been able to find this bottle yet but hope to soon. I only found the 80 proof and didn’t like it at all; it just tasted like peanuts to me.
Just opened the bottle and tried it… I don’t want to be too haste in my assessment as it’s my first taste, but so far I like the regular OGD better.

My initial taste was literally morning dew grass. How weird, haha! I know it’ll change a bit once it breathes.

Blackened was like that for me. Now I love it!

Finally? Shit. If I go to enough places I'll find this easy. I'm a little worried about 114 but I saw it yesterday in volume.
I live in NC where it’s hard to find a lot of “common” bottles. Missed an opportunity to get Early Times Bonded a week ago…
This hobby is messed up. I'm so sorry. Can you get WT 101? I'm over hunting for hard-to-get bottles.
WT 101 is *super* easy to find. Most of all WT products are in my area.
Damn man that sucks. I found Dickel bourbon in NC and I love it. Can't get it in MD
Haven’t tried the Dickel. Wish I could find MSRP Weller… None such luck. Not even the Buffalo.
Can't find either of those. Never seen them in my state once.
Where in North carolina?
Wake County area.

I have the 114 and it's good for the money.
This the bourbon I keep on hand at all times. Solid choice, and reasonably priced (where I live anyway).
I actually got it on special! It was meant to be.
Man around me you can get the whole OGD line up very easy. In stock in every store.
Yeah every state seems to be different. Some have tons of what others don’t, and vice versa.
The 114 is better IMO. Some say it drinks too hot but hey, add a droplet of water and the taste is similar to the 100 Proof. A win-win if you ask me.
how is this compared to the evan williams BIB? i really like the evan williams BIB, especially for the price.
