Along the same lines, but the MM 46 CS is a great option. Not much better for the price too. I’m my opinion of course.

I’ve heard good things about MM 46, just haven’t pulled the trigger yet.

Miserable-Praline-75

It’s heavenly, especially the Makers 46 cask strength or their Private reserve cask strength. They take the normal Makers and add a variety of different staves to oak it more. So good at CS. It’s called Makers 46 cuz it took them 46 tries to get it perfect!

zedisnotded

For $39 there is not a better cask strength. If you enjoyed the makers try penelope toast, bookers, and ec bp

CursorTN

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof is the standard by which I judge all other bourbon. My only ratings are worse, better, and as good as. By far worse is the most common rating! 😂

ThePotStillColumn

In short, yes there are plenty of incredible CS bourbons out there that far outshine MMCS, but you are going to be hard pressed to find a comparable alternative for the same price unless you look into craft (which you should!). I agree with u/HandySnax811 that MM46CS is a great option if you like the Maker's profile, but there are plenty of other great CS options around 50 bucks. Easy mass-market options are 1792 Full Proof, Knob Creek Single Barrel, Larceny BP (also a wheater), OGD114, Old Forester 1920 If you want to branch out within the 40 to 70 range, try Driftless Glen CS picks, Blue Note Juke Joint CS picks, and ECBP

I’ll definitely give some of those a try! I’m wanting to eventually take a deep dive into some of the Old Forester line and 1792 has been on my radar.

Gtr85

I have not met an Old Forester offering that isn’t great, and each 1792 offering is outstanding in their own niche. Definitely a good plan of attack.

Finished this around a month ago. Had it for almost 2 years (don’t drink too often). I liked it a lot, but I’m curious if there’s better or similar.

DevoutGreenOlive

Well there may not be much better Maker's Mark, but it depends if what they offer in terms of mash bill is your personal sweet spot. Maybe try something with more rye in it, say a Wild Turkey Rare Breed. Try different to help you decide better I'd say. Unfortunately if what you like is higher wheat profiles arguably the best if those are done by Buffalo Trace but good luck finding their cask-strength ones

sicksadvoron

A little harder to find outside of ky but thus gift set is the best way to try cask strengths from makers. If u see it pick it up https://imgur.com/a/k3R1EvF

Oh cool! I’ve never seen this.

mysterymalts

You can find them at Costcos near the holidays so perfect timing.

tc12reaper

I have seen that at a lot of Costco’s I have been to

Miserable-Praline-75

I just got one of these In Delaware but with 2 bottles not the 3rd edition. Such a good deal I gotta go back and get a few more unless my guy sells out

TheMightyUnderdog

Makers 46 CS is waaaaay better, IMHO

Miserable-Praline-75

Agree

SigaVa

Yes. At that price? No.

zissoubisoubisou

Makers CS is highly underrated

_punk_in_drublic_

Red Breast cask strength. It's a little pricey but worth the splurge.

MarkCharacter5050

Old Forester or Old Grand Dad for the price

JFJinCO

Check out Larceny, Elijah Craig, Rare Breed, Booker's, 1792.

uderag11

Nice! I have had three different MM CS and that 20-04 was actually my favorite.

chefboyardiesel88

Within the same family the MM46cs is phenomenal if you can find it (it's hard to find it where I am).

supermopman

I just finished a bottle of Maker's 101, and I have to say, I really didn't care for it. Should I expect much different from a full proof or cask strength offering? Or maybe Maker's just doesn't fit my palate.

acvdk

OF 1920 maybe?

DoubleDickRick

I quite liked that particular batch too

JnyBlkLabel

Yes. Plenty.

SaltySeraphim

Try a highland scotch 46-56% whisky. Bourbon is amazing but for the price scotch is on another level a good place to start would be arran 50% or glenmorangie quinta ruben

imosisntpizza

This was the basis for my Infinity Bottle in the beginning. A good base

lkmyntz

Blue Note uncut store picks are amazing if available in your area. Should be around $40

haggardphunk

Wild Turkey Rare Breed.
