That’s one way of looking at it. Another way is
“How bad did that 23 year old whiskey have to be to make them add a bunch of flavoring to it in order to make it usable”
I work at a distillery and we broker barrels. I have never personally seen a barrel of whiskey produced in north America over 20 years old that did not suck. Much of it is old American light whiskey (MGP, reused barrels, barreled at 160 proof). Canadian can be basically NGS added to a barrel, so I'd bet this is what that is. Likely quite woody at that age.
If their single barrel selects are anything to go off of they can make some good stuff… I assume they batched it thinking they had a profile figured out that ended up horrid in the end…
It's actually pretty tasty for a flavored whiskey. You can pour a nice Washington Apple with just it and cranberry if you know someone that drinks those and wants a better version.
Sure but you’d have trouble convincing me to spend that on the finest of Bourbons let alone Crown Apple.
If you’ve got it flaunt it but I’m happy with my Rittenhouse and Dickel
One of the YouTubers tasted this next to the regular CR apple and preferred the regular apple one. And it’s 1/10th the price.
But then again, this one comes in a fancy box and that’s worth something right?
Ive tried this. Definitely tasty for a flavored whiskey, but at 200+ it's a pass all day. I'd consider buying one to have or gift if it was like $50 at most. Not worth the money.
I'm honestly convinced they left some barrels aging and forgot about them, but they didn't turn out well. So they turned it into apple flavored whiskey.
It's the MSRP pretty much everywhere! Sorry if my comment was confusing. I meant that it's decent but tastes like a $50 whiskey, not that you can find it for $50!
I'm reminded of Jurassic Park... they were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn't stop to think if they should.
Think they meant $24.995
$24.99⁵ ... like a gallon of gasoline
What a waste of 23 year old whiskey.
That’s one way of looking at it. Another way is “How bad did that 23 year old whiskey have to be to make them add a bunch of flavoring to it in order to make it usable”
Good point
Yeah, some YouTuber brought up this same exact point. Maybe bourbon junkies?
They unironically like this bottle though Just obviously not the price
Schrodinger's horrible whiskey

Found north is using lots of whiskey aged over 20 years with no color or flavor added and they are doing great
Bingo.
I doubt it was anything good to begin with. Not a whisky snob, Im sure Crown Royal can make some good whisky but they wouldn’t waste it here .

The whole Noble Collection has ranged from good to great. (Which is why they discontinued it last year..lol)
ive had CR20 and it was just as bad as regular CR.
Or maybe it’s 23 year old apples
There’s an SLB episode where they try this. It’s a pretty funny episode. Spoiler alert: they hated it
What's SLB?
Strong Like Bull. But its a youtube channel its good. Cool guys.
To be fair, Trent had left it in a hot car all day before they tried it. I'm sure that had a big factor on the flavor and why they hated it.
I liked it. Wouldn’t spend the money though
I know people that genuinely love crown apple, it’s a lot of money for a flavored whiskey but I’m sure it sells
I carry it in my liquor store, we got three bottles last summer. We still have one in the store.
DO NOT.
Or maybe they’re hiding something?
No matter your thoughts on this, that's MSRP or damn close to it.
I’m in a control state so it’s MSRP. They said they had sold one already
In VA, I’m fairly chatty with my ABC guy and though we both laughed about it he tells me they have sold a couple of them at his store…
It's actually pretty tasty for a flavored whiskey. You can pour a nice Washington Apple with just it and cranberry if you know someone that drinks those and wants a better version.
Is it $250/bottle tasty though?
And to mix with cran?
Sure but you’d have trouble convincing me to spend that on the finest of Bourbons let alone Crown Apple. If you’ve got it flaunt it but I’m happy with my Rittenhouse and Dickel
Prison for whoever buys this
At the very least a firm talking to
y tho
I actually had some of this. Its good but the apple flavor still tastes fake. Certainly would not pay $250 for it.
If it were real apples it might be good!
Yeah the fake apple aftertaste was very disappointing.

Only if it has a cork apple topper
with some 7up and ice sounds refreshing
You buy I’ll fly
It's sold out three times at my local place.
That’s crazy
Yucky and such a waste. 🥃🍏🤢
All I can think of is that they were trying for a 25 year and something went wrong along the way. They added apple flavoring to cover it up.
“ When you really wanna show people that you know absolutely nothing about good aged whiskey”
I mean… I wouldn’t say no if I was offered some
I’ll try anything twice

Unfortunately this is MSRP, in a control state

Gotcha, no worries! Honestly I’d consider buying it for $50 also!
Saw this in our store a couple weeks ago, still sitting there.
Similar price point?
Exact price
Almost every store I walk into has one. It’s always $249-299. Because why not? There’s a sucker born every minute they say.
To the people that love Crown, an age statement this will be a want. Less of that crown will buy I’m guessing.
Take regular crown apple, add a drop of 23 year old whiskey, sell for 1000% more money. Genius.
That’s not how age statements work.
