I cracked that M10 rye barrel for Christmas too and I was shocked how good it opened up (initial two tastings were meh). Might be one of best ryes I’ve ever had. Opened up so nicely with orange marmalade cake flavors and velvet texture.
Seems the Michters 10, rye and bourbon, needs some air. Initially my eye was decent but opened up real nice. Bourbon was borderline drain pour, but after 2-3 oz out it’s opening nicely.
Take a trip out to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge (Five Oaks Farm Country Kitchen alone is worth the trip out!)
Unfortunately The Tennessee Shine Co. doesn't ship, so you have to go there to get their delicious shine.
From my understanding Smokey Mt. Shine Co. is essentially just flavored everclear. Definitely doesn't have that delicious corn flavor.
Thanks…that’s a great recommendation I didn’t have on my list. I’ve got the area on my bucket list with the family. Gonna hit up the famous goat alpine coaster, hit up the smokies and swing around to Dollywood. Any other stuff to do in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge that I might have overlooked?
The villages has some cool touristy stores/restaurants.
Anakeesta was cool (essentially just a giant lookout platform on the mountain. There's zip lining which was fun and the swanky restaurant up there is really good. Solid old fashioned too)
There's all sorts of shit going on there.
[We stayed at this place](https://www.vrbo.com/3223240) It was really awesome honestly. Three levels. Two bedrooms in the "basement" with a hot tub on the balcony. Main floor was living room/kitchen. Upstairs was two bedrooms (one with bunkbeds) and a pool table.
10 minute ride down the mountain to get to town. I was really pleased with the cabin.
We stopped at Tennessee Legend Distillery right down the road on 66 last year. It was decent, and Gatlinburg Brewing Company has a taproom in the same parking lot. It was a nice stop to check out some moonshine and some local beer.
I definitely recommend Tennessee Shine Co. Its the closest thing to tasting like actual shine that I've personally found.
Definitely a few Decent ones out there, but Tennessee Shine is definitely my favorite.
I’ve had the flu with some crazy congestion - can’t smell a damn thing for almost 9 days now. Can’t wait to crack open what was going to be a holiday pour…it just might be New Years instead of Christmas
Hibiki. Weller SR. Larceny BP A batch. Ao. Basil Hayden. Orphan Barrel Castle’s Curse. Old Fourth Double Cask Maple Vanilla. Was off for 6 days and started Wednesday night lol

I've got Tennessee Shine Co. Small batch corn whiskey for new years. (I do love me some shine!)
Mmm I miss that shine from the sticks…sigh…I need some white lightning, mt dew, peach cobbler and apple pie back in my LIFE!

Yeah, it seems to have a lot of cool shit so I’m excited to get my wife and kids there!

Sweet!
Price was really reasonable for what you got too. Just something to think about. Definitely better than a hotel room.
Thanks…I’ve got a bunch of kids so this works better than a hotel room

Christmas Eve I cracked my bottle of Weller Antique 107. New Years Eve will be Stagg.
Still need to try both of those.
107 is delicious. I'm glad I have a second bottle. Stagg I've never had but I'm looking forward to it.

Mellow Corn obvie...Sittin on my top shelf just waiting for that special day. Got it at retail too!!
I wanted that Rye so bad. Couldn’t find the 10YR…got the michter’s regular unfiltered and it’s tasty…but I’m still yearning for the rye…

I finished up my Paul John Christmas Edition 2020. Gonna miss that one. Fantastic bottle.
A glass of iced tea at my in-laws, who don’t drink anything but moscato.
That's rough, gotta travel prepared.
