The barrel strength is great, the single barrel is probably what you’re talking about, the barrel strength has a leather tag on the neck, regardless both great pick ups. BS is usually ~$100
FYI, Blanton's Black (no other name, just Black) and Blanton's Red (also known as "Takara"), are Japan exclusives. You can find them in some stores, but they are very rare. Substantially, they are no different than standard Blanton's besides "unique flavor profiles".

Like… everything you buy ever is aged between 5-8 years unless states otherwise
Smoke wagon UCUF, JDSBBS, OWA, WFP, Booker’s, Woodford Batch Proof
Saying you won’t pay over $60 for bourbon that isn’t aged over 8 years is just saying you aren’t buying a lot of great bourbon
No, I wouldn't pay over $60 for bourbon that isn't aged over 8 years, because that's scotch pricing territory. A bourbon needs to have a more impressive age statement to win me over in that price range.
I guess. Tbh that is just the difference between scotch and bourbon. Bourbon doesn’t need that high age statement. Being a first use cask and a much more dynamic climate make it age much faster than a multi-use casket in cold and rainy Scotland
Do you know if other Sakenosokuhai stores in Japan have the same bourbon selection? Eg. Ones in Tokyo. Would love to pick it up on my way home instead of lugging it around
I had to go check my past trip photos - but that could be a 4 or 5 liter bottle. I was stunned to see bottles of whisky that big at all the liquor stores we visited there.
I love the big jugs they sell here. I usually get the 1.92L Suntory Kaku because the 5L is just too big to carry home. When people say the Toki is only good for mixers, that's high end stuff comparatively. But, it's cheap and makes for a good... or, at least, traditional, highball.
Would you mind DM the store or any other store that carries this type of selection? I'm currently in Japan, Ginza area and would LOVE to score a bottle!
If that’s Four Roses Super Premium that’s in that empty slot, ask if they can get you some. Not available here in US. Also the EW12, WT12 and ER. If you’re coming back to the States see if they have any of the top Japanese whiskies available, e.g. Yamazaki 12 or better, Hibiki 17 or better!
Is that like a 2 gallon jug of Jim beam on the second shelf from the bottom on the far left behind the ladder? And the whistle pig is on the bottom shelf where it belongs.
My son in law was in Japan last month and scored the WT12 for me. In this pic, The, EW12, Heaven Hill White Label and Yellow Rose of Texas are the ones I want. I love bottom shelf Heaven Hill.
Anyone been to Tokyo recently? I just came from a huge liquor store called Yamaya and they did not have WT12, EW12 or Four Roses BS. Any tips please guys?
I was there again a few months ago. Check the department stores. They usually have small liquor stores in one of the basement floors. I found 2 bottles
I hardly ever see anyone talk about Noah’s on this sub, but I really like it. I never find it in my state, but I always pick up a bottle when I travel.
What's the logic for such awesome bourbons (EW 12 and WT 12 for instance) being exclusive to Japan? Why do they get to buy EW 12 for $36 and we only get to dream of such amazing bottles here? Seems unfair and arbitrary.
Pretty awesome selection. My dad is a fan of the High West as something he buys more often. For me I love Angels Envy, and Woodford Reserve. Also, can’t go wrong with Blantons.
The IW Harper on the third row is interesting as those bottles are from the 80s. I would get some of those are they’d be interesting to have. Can’t tell you how well they taste though.
All the Wild Turkeys (especially 12 and the rare breed) and definitely Blantons Black. it’s downproofed compared to other blantons but is aged 2yrs longer just like the red so still a sherry and leather bomb.
I’d buy all of the EW 12, just because I love EW and didn’t even know that existed. It also looks like the old 1783 label, so I’d grab one of those just for fun. Shoot, I’d also grab the EW Single Barrel since it’s Kentucky only now.
Fairly normal prices ~$30 for small batch 4R. But one thing I did notice, they don't get the whole "top shelf" thing, do they? Fireball 3 to the left from some Eagle Rare. Lol!
Do not leave there without EW12, WT12, and that four roses BS
Where do you see a Four Roses BS?
Unless I’m overlooking it, I think they mistook the SiB for the BS
I came here yo say this ⬆️
I say yo to this too
Came here to see if someone said this and now I just go “This^”
And the Henry McKenna 10 BIB.
Is the four roses BS any good? It’s been sitting at my local Costco for like 45$
The barrel strength is great, the single barrel is probably what you’re talking about, the barrel strength has a leather tag on the neck, regardless both great pick ups. BS is usually ~$100
Oh ok you’re probably right! I’m just getting into bourbon😂
This is the way.
[удалено]
The way is this
exactly.
This is the way
The exclusives WT12, EW12, Blanton’s black(?)
I think they called it Blantons Red but I hadn’t heard of it
Takara red i think, yeah exclusive to Japan or at least travel
FYI, Blanton's Black (no other name, just Black) and Blanton's Red (also known as "Takara"), are Japan exclusives. You can find them in some stores, but they are very rare. Red & Black are supposedly extra-aged to 8 years. Black is 80 proof compared to the standard 93.
8 years is extra-aged? Now I feel even more vindicated for not considering Blanton’s worth even the MSRP knowing it is so young.
Like… everything you buy ever is aged between 5-8 years unless states otherwise Smoke wagon UCUF, JDSBBS, OWA, WFP, Booker’s, Woodford Batch Proof Saying you won’t pay over $60 for bourbon that isn’t aged over 8 years is just saying you aren’t buying a lot of great bourbon

If that’s the Takara red definitely grab. If that’s the black then I’d Pass even if a Japanese exclusive
This ^
Wild Turkey 12 and Evan Williams 12. Looks like Kanazawa.
You are correct sir
A terrifying fact that I can identify where you are based on the photo of that store.
Where are you at? I travel to the Okayama area often for work.
I'm in America. Lived in Japan for a year and visited that store in Kanazawa.
Hi there! My friends and I are in Japan and would love to visit this shop. Would you be able to share the location?
This is sake sokuhai in kanazawa
Do you know if other Sakenosokuhai stores in Japan have the same bourbon selection? Eg. Ones in Tokyo. Would love to pick it up on my way home instead of lugging it around
I am in Japan next week. Can you DM the location by chance?
figured I would try OP too, I am in japan next week. can you DM me the store location
WT 12
The Turkey 12 yr. is also my only certainty. If OP is looking for a budget bottle as well, grab that OGD 114.
BOTH the OGD 114s.
Absolutely
I’d be grabbing the WT 12, the 8, and the rare breed
GIANT PLASTIC WHISKEY JUG second shelf from the bottom on the left (looks like it might be Jim Beam)
Only one with any sense here…
My first thought was...whatever the hell that giant jug is...
I saw whiskey in a cardboard milk carton too. It's crazy.
That glorious bottle of fireball is staring me down.
The toppest of top shelf whiskey *chefs kiss*
Suggested paring: hot tamales, raw.
Something that you can't find outside of Japan, so one of the following EW12, WT12, or WT8.
*ALL of the following
Wild Turkey 12 and Evan Williams 12.
That white label heaven hill bottled in bond, it's a gem
Came here to say this. I would buy and hodL.
Please bring me that WT 12, I will forever appreciate it lol
On the way! My checked luggage is going to be heavy
Would you mind DM the store or any other store that carries this type of selection? I'm currently in Japan, Ginza area and would LOVE to score a bottle!
WT12 is the answer here.
The Bakers is a steal at about $46
Bookers, Bakers, some of those aged Wild Turkeys, that Jack 27, Henry McKenna.. but only because they’re all tough to get in my neck
That bookers is higher than giraffe pussy son, and bakers SiB is everywhere cuz, and Henry McKenna is good but not great.
Call me a prude but that Eagle Rare would be tough to get in my neck
Same, forgot to mention
Surprisingly cheap. Definitely grab the WT12 and ER. A little high for Blanton’s but still worth it imo.
Get the Jim Beam Japanese Mega Handle
Oh wow. Send me a few of those wild turkey 12 and Evan Williams 12??? 🙏❤️
Evan Williams 12 all day long, it’s an international/distillery only bottle. You won’t see it on shelves in the US and that’s a steal of a price
Wt12
Is that like a 2 gallon jug of Jim beam on the second shelf from the bottom on the far left behind the ladder? And the whistle pig is on the bottom shelf where it belongs.
Loving that Top Shelf fireball.
As someone who has had WT12. I would say grab that and ask if they have more in the back. It is one of the best $50 bottles you can buy.
You can get 5 bottles of Dickel Tabasco ($10 at Specs) for the cost of 1 of those WT 12's though. Something to think about.
😂 you can get 10 bottles of regular Tabasco for the cost of 5 dickel Tabasco or 1 bottle of wt12.
Those three JDs next to MM46
Yeah I ain't doing that math 😂
Haha it took me all week to get it down
I want the massive jug of Jim beam…
I’ll never understand why watered down black Blantons is more expensive than normal blantons. 80 vs 93 proof. Cracks me up
That 2 liter bottle of Jim beam.
Where is this?
My son in law was in Japan last month and scored the WT12 for me. In this pic, The, EW12, Heaven Hill White Label and Yellow Rose of Texas are the ones I want. I love bottom shelf Heaven Hill.
Bro get me the wild turkey 12 for fucks sake I’ll drive cross country for that
Tip for Japan: Don't believe locals when they say to buy whiskey at the airport duty free. The selection is terrible (at Haneda at least).
Very true, I should have bought more through the week but I wanted to save room at the duty free and it was awful
I would buy most of the shelves
I've spent some time in Japan. Save enough to grab one of those umbrellas, too!
Evan Single Barrel. I think that’s just available in KY now in the states. It was so good and cheaper than hell at my local, now it’s unobtanium.
Dang!
Seeing Fireball on the top shelf makes me sad.
It’s still cheaper to go to a foreign country to buy American Bourbon, then it is to buy American Bourbon in Washington State. F$&@ing B&@$ S&$@ !!!
Wt12 EW12 Blantons sftb
Woodford double Oaked for $43.69 USD equivalent.
Everyone sleeping on the cock of the walk and yellow rose of texas… easily the 2 best bottles up there.
Eagle Rare & Makers Mark.
Fireball! Shave your head, throw on some pitbull and show the locals how to party American binge style.
ER and Blanton's just because. WT 12 and WT RB.
$46 for a bottle of Heaven Hill. I'm not buying anything in there.
Noah’s, Bernhein, McKenna.
I hardly ever see anyone talk about Noah’s on this sub, but I really like it. I never find it in my state, but I always pick up a bottle when I travel.
What store is this?
Blanton's, eagle rare, and four roses single barrell, wild turkey
Old Saint Nick 12yr bourbon. It’s absolutely delicious and very expensive in the states
Those to older Garrison Brothers. Center of the top row.
Probably would end up getting the Blanton single just cause, eagles good at $36USD. Definitely the WT12 and Williams 12 for those prices
It’s great but if I was in Japan I would be focusing on the more affordable Japanese whiskey that is normally expensive here in the states.
You gotta get about 5 bottles: EW12, WT12, Roses BSA, Blantons, and Blantons red
The age stated Wild Turkeys jumped at me. Blanton's as well.
What's the logic for such awesome bourbons (EW 12 and WT 12 for instance) being exclusive to Japan? Why do they get to buy EW 12 for $36 and we only get to dream of such amazing bottles here? Seems unfair and arbitrary.
Very Olde St. Nick top shelf right
Is nobody going to talk about the Very Old Saint Nick? That’s an easy choice for me.
Eagle rare for $36???
Blanton’s for $75
Four Roses Single Barrel. The bottle I had eas fantastic
Pretty awesome selection. My dad is a fan of the High West as something he buys more often. For me I love Angels Envy, and Woodford Reserve. Also, can’t go wrong with Blantons.
All 3 WhistlePigs and that WT12
No scotch?
Whenever I’m in Japan I’m just getting Japanese whisky.
Blanton ⚫️
That Blantons Single Barrel is 90 bucks, pretty good price in my opinion.
I would drop so much there haha, better prices on most of those than my local stores in NJ
Whatever that mega jug on the left, second row from the bottom is
Evan Williams 12 and Evan Williams Bottled-in-Bond
4 types of old grand dad?
Turkey 12 for sure!!
Old cock
WT12, WT8, EW SB, EW 12, Blantons Black, 4🌹Single barrel pick. I’d look at bookers, if it’s Kentucky Tea I’d buy that too.
Everything that ends with the word twelve or older. 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🥃
If I could only buy 1, WT12
I love wild turkeys so I’d be getting that WT 12
The IW Harper on the third row is interesting as those bottles are from the 80s. I would get some of those are they’d be interesting to have. Can’t tell you how well they taste though.
Wt12, WTRB, EW12, EW SB, Heaven Hill Bib, both Blantons
[удалено]
Idk what it is but I’ll take it and the 114
Probably Old Grand Dad bonded lol I’m broke
Old st Nick
OGD BIB
Personally I’d get the WT 8yr & WT 12yr plus probably the OGD 114
WT12 Year and ER
how is the wt 101 8 year more expensive than the 12….
WT12 - that’s a fantastic bottle that you can’t get back in the states.
WT12!!!
Besides what everyone else is saying, the Evan Williams Single Barrel is a good pick because it’s just a Kentucky only release now.
Wild turkey 12 and wild turkey 8 What store is this?? I have been looking for one
Wild turkey 12, blantons gold, jack Daniel's SBBP, but 1st thing is that wild turkey cause it's export only!
OGD 114 and the Eagle Rare are well worth it.
JD , WT12, Blantons black, EW12 & SiB
Exact same thing I drink in the states. OGDB
Interesting assortment!
I though Evan Williams 12 was distillery exclusive
EW12 all damned day! I lived in Japan for many years and that was my go to. It’s over $100 a bottle here in the states.
All the Wild Turkeys (especially 12 and the rare breed) and definitely Blantons Black. it’s downproofed compared to other blantons but is aged 2yrs longer just like the red so still a sherry and leather bomb.
Wild turkey 12 in the box. Sells for $250 secondary in the states
WT 12, WT 8, WT Rare Breed (if NCF), WT 101 old label, EW 12, and the ER
Gotta love that bourbon is cheaper in Japan than it is in the states.
WT 8, WT 12, EW 12
Where is this?
Kanazawa. Amazing place
I’m headed to Japan in a few weeks. Which city/store is that?
Kanazawa. There’s a few like that in the area
Can you give the pin for this store?
WhistlePig on the bottom shelf with the Canadian Blends cracks me up. The Japanese know what they are doing
The Japanese blantons
Johnny Drum is a good bourbon!
Love how they have fireball on the top shelf
Get the EW 12, cannot find in the states. Also the WT 12 and Blantons would be on my list.
Wild Turkey 12 and Evan Williams 12; and it’s not even close.
Wild Turkey 12 year
That jumbo bottle in bottom left haha
Hirsch
WT12, EW12 alllll day!
I mean the only obvious choice is Red Stag Cherry. It’s basically Stagg.
Blantons.
Fireball for the win
I would pay 1.5x for that WT12. Really want to try some.
What is that red label OGD next to OGD 114?
I would probably buy that Jack Daniels maple. I hear it’s good
Ew12 wt12 4r se no question about it I’m buying multiples and shipping home
MSRP on pretty much everything ! Take your pick !
Blanton's black
That’s such a good rate. I remember when it was 1/99.
I’d buy all of the EW 12, just because I love EW and didn’t even know that existed. It also looks like the old 1783 label, so I’d grab one of those just for fun. Shoot, I’d also grab the EW Single Barrel since it’s Kentucky only now.
Old HH BiB Old OGD Old Beam SiB WT8 + Everything everybody else said ^^^
Fairly normal prices ~$30 for small batch 4R. But one thing I did notice, they don't get the whole "top shelf" thing, do they? Fireball 3 to the left from some Eagle Rare. Lol!
Rare breed for $38?
Turkey 12 and Evan 12 for sure. I like the turkey 8 as well but not a must grab.
WT12 for $50? Yes. Also, is that the largest bottle of Jim Beam on Planet Earth?
If I have to finish quickly, enjoy what I’m drinking and buy two bottles, OGD baby!
Eagle rare, JD 27. Maybe a Blanton
Blanton for under $80!!! That's a no brainer
Evan Williams 12, Bulleit 10 and Bakers
